Best Camera Cage for Fx3 & Fx30? Sirui Cage Review
This is the first time that I've had someone explain it and I'm not completely lost. Thank you!
Thank you ,what about low lighting with Red?
Haven't heard many folks saying "don't expose to the right" with 10 bit. Would love to hear more on that
@@thatguybgreen Exposing to the right is really about controlling noise in the shadows. Modern cameras, including the fx30, are very cleaning if they aren’t under exposed. So in my experience it isn’t necessary. By exposing “normally” you can get an extra stop or two of highlight detail. Some of it comes down to personal preference and how much noise you can tolerate and in what situations but I’ve had good results without exposing to the right.
@@RileyEndicottas someone who’s been punched in the face repeatedly by “when exposing SLOG aim for +1 to +1.7 on exposure meter”. You’re explanation is breathe of fresh air and makes a ton of sense
I never understood why pros push for raw and then justify it by saying if you make rookie mistakes you can fix it in post lol
Great vid learned a lot thanks
I too am on the spectrum.
Video Village's FilmBox is way better for film emulation.
Riley, thanks for such an interesting review! We are happy to answer any questions 😃
Thanks!
this is impressive! is it also available for the zve10?
Unfortunately there’s no profile for the zve10 😣 You could always go with the rec709 profile and use it with footage that is already color corrected though.
@@RileyEndicotti need to upgrade my camera at some point hahah
@@martinasoles the stuff I’ve seen from you’re channel still looks good! 🙂
1. More bitrate = more sharper = larger fil size , 2. explain also why lest data in higher frame rate ? 3. Higher frame rate higher data right ? 4. Less bit rate more noise, higher bit rate less noise
How bad does this affect the autofocus though? If the autofocus stayed the same this would be a game changer
In general autofocus isn’t reliable with this.
How about Cine EI mode ? can recording by 4K in the NINJA V ?
fuking annoying music. WTF
Work with a1??
Been contemplating buying this for a long time lol. Is it worth buying? Also from seattle glad to see a local in YT.
The vignette is heavy.
What are some good anamorphic lens for fx30 ?
I've been making do with my Zve 10 m1 . And I fantasize about having raw however I just want 10bit . However however however I've never let my camera stop me and honestly sometimes it's fun as much as I don't want to do it to use what I got and get a little janky and get what I can. I think I could tell most my stories with a cell phone it's all in the script and the edit. Then again you're not going to be cooking that serious working with people that know better or no gear better..
I am trying to figure out why this channel doesn't have more views/subs. Fwiw, I was drawn to this channel because I own an a7S III and make the occasional documentary. Not sure if your goal is to have a big channel but I think regular posting in this presentation style will eventually get you big. I have an art history channel that has way more subscribers and I rarely post new videos to it, but I did have a couple of videos that got 100,000 views quickly. Maybe you’re just one big video away from taking off. Obviously the doc world is smaller than the vlog world but I think your content is relevant to anyone interested in video production. End of unsolicited advice.
@@sdrabin Thanks! I appreciate it!
I used the FX30 to shoot an international commercial last month and honestly I was super pleased with it in so many ways. 1. The image looks fantastic. 2. To actually have a camera with such amazing autofocus and small size that I could use it on a gimbal, mount it to literally any rig was so freeing that it ended up influencing the types of shots I could get - being free to pursue the images in my own mind instead of thinking about the gear and how I could make it work was so freeing. That's the biggest thing I love about it - it just gets out of my way. I don't even think about the camera. 3. APSC. I love the super35 sensor. I always have thought of s35 as being the sweet spot. 4. Battery life. Oh how wonderful it was to shoot an entire day on 3 little batteries. LOL. I used to run big camera packages with all these vmount batteries. Ugh, what a pain. I don't care what anyone says, I will shoot with this camera for many, many years to come. It's literally perfect for me.
@@relaxwithme3266 Yeah it’s amazing! Glad you’re enjoying it!
Crop factor for FX30 raw is 32.5%, not 25%: 6192x3483 vs. 4672x2628

@@martinasuns Haha yes!!
*It's Not a Great Investment. It's an AMAZING investment. I've had this Camera for just over a year and since it's APS-C it works with all my other lens as they too were APS-C Cameras. It's a Bit of a Learning Curve as it's ALL video with SOME photo aspects which is Why I LOVE this Camera*
I sold my FX3 and A7Siii to fund a pair of FX30's and some smaller/lighter lenses. I'm not a pro and the FX30 is MORE than enough for my needs. It's an amazing camera for the price!
@@RandumbTech Sounds like you have a good set up! It definitely is!
I bought my FX30 a few months ago, and it paid for itself. I was a beginner when I bought FX30, doesn't know anything about video, but FX30 is level up my career and now I'm working fulltime and it's paying my bills.
@@nyinyiphonemyint8191 That’s awesome! Excited to hear that!
I use this and the A7IV for the beginnings of my drone videos . SCINETONE is really nice for daytime but only SLOG3 looks nice for lowlight on the FX30 . Lowlight is better on the A7IV. I’m using the new Tamron 28-75mm
@@infamous_001 Nice!!

i am using the same setup and love it as you do. I am having one issue with it. After switching the camera on/off a few time, the handle has no connection any more with the camera unless i detach and mount it one more time to the camera. Do you have the same effect?
one thing I completely agree with you: I love EF mount lenses because it is nowadays camera agnostic.
Hey buddy thanks if helped, it it possible for a quick call over Google meet
I rented fx3 and fx6 It doesn't eye/face track in 100fps Is this the case with all fx3 and fx6

@@ChrisFlores22 yeah I still love my OG Komodo. It’s an even better deal now that the price dropped!
@@RileyEndicott can’t wait to pick mine up!
@@ChrisFlores22 Congrats!!
@@RileyEndicott appreciate it man! I see that you film all kinds of stuff. How do you handle file sizes when filming longer interviews? What do you shoot in or do you not care about file sizes?
Hey Riley, love your content. How do you find the audio quality of the top handle adapter module compares to using a SD MixPre3? I have been using the latter because I trust those preamps and love the UI but I was considering ordering a top handle as another kit to roll out from time to time for added convenience. I am a journalist/documentary filmmaker as well. Thanks!
@@AlexeiBarrionuevo-h8v I haven’t used the MixPre3 but other tascam mixers that have dedicated pre-amps I’ve used are better. The preamps in the handle are good but you’ll notice a quality improvement with a dedicated device.
SO annoying that the Sony doesn't allow independent mono control of split tracks. I don't get that.
@@HenryBLeeNYC It’s because it’s a stereo signal 🙂 Adding something like the K3M will add 2 additional mono tracks in addition to the stereo signal

I want to bless others, but altruism has a dark history of subversion and sabotage. My experience with the church has been a Fountainhead-like experience of watching countries getting buggered in the name of Jesus and human rights. Living sacrifice when put to practice leads to extraction and pillage. It all begins with the idea that God requires blood sacrifice. That god is Molech. It continues with Martyrdom. The Living Sacrifice becomes a spiritual holodomor, a living hell. The first altruist in the Congo is none other than Leopold. And if you have been to the Congo, you know what Leopold did. All in the name of noble causes. Abolishing slavery, ending savagery, civilizing the world. Leopold was eventually exposed and forced to give up his fiefdom. Leopold had decivilized the Congo, and now Belgium had to clean up after Leopold. Leopold also did human zoos, in the name of science and progress. The Congo lived through Reconstruction and Jim Crow. The social gospel got involved there like it did here in the States, and we hear little about it. You also cannot get involved in the Congo too long before you hear about Patrice Lumumba, their independence martyr. The CIA called him a communist. Lumumba started out very conservative, fully believing in the civilizing mission. He eventually saw that colonialism was condescending and paternalistic, much like the black conservative sees welfare and food stamps here. Belgian provocations eventually led to the popular demand for immediate independence. Lumumba would have been naturally reluctant to haste, but he was forced to give Belgium some reality. He had listened to his people and could not deny their demands. Belgium responded with sabotage. They gave them hasty independence and then unleashed rebel groups on them from day one. The first rebel group was Tshombe's mercenaries. Lumumba was pro-western: reluctant to haste and seeking cooperation. They alienated him, and he had nowhere else to run except the Soviet Union. He had leftists in his own party, waiting for their opportunity to hijack the civil rights movement. A left wing rebel group formed in Lumumba's name after his overthrow. Even before the assassination, they gathered in Stanleyville. They were the Simba Rebellion. They became known as Lumumbism in Words Only. All they did was Burn Loot Murder in the name of the martyr. The Cold War was an altruistic project in its own right. The west was at war supposedly to stop communism. But they secretly did communism with Mobutu and Pol Pot. Altruism leads to fake human rights. Communism is fake human rights. The Cold War is more fake human rights, and in this case, the human right they are fighting for is the right to own property. And what is fake is not the rights per se but the manner in which they go about it. Just as Leopold lied about savages, Dulles lied about communism. Left and right are an unreliable guide to understanding the Congo. Today, the Congo is a funny country where staunch capitalists are Antifa, and social democrats are the GOP. There is one thing the Congo has in common with the USA: Russia, Russia. The Congo went through the Russian collusion hoax in 1960. They falsely accused Lumumba of being Krushchev's puppet. Events that are transpiring today are in some ways like a repeat of 1960. The Congo is receiving cooperation from China, while Blinken is sabotaging. Tshisekedi is being accused by the opposition of embezzling funds. Lumumba was accused of embezzling funds by the Belgians in 1956. A coup was recently attempted by Mobutuists. Mobutu became useful to US imperialism again because of Cold War II. I myself supported Friends of the Congo. They were communists. They were loyal to Cuba. Yet what they supported in the Congo seemed to be sincere. I thought they were with Tshisekedi. I was wrong. I had a ray of hope when one of their members called on the tech companies to bring capitalism and bring jobs. But FOTC betrayed the Congo. They threw in with Fayulu, Katumbi, and Mukwege, who are staunch capitalists. They use every excuse in the anticolonialist's handbook to defend the Diaz-Canel regime, but when the Tshisekedi regime needs to defend itself from colonialism, they join the colonial gaslighting. They have no principles. They are Simba rebels. They eat Pygmies. They may as well hate Lumumba. They are once again proving that fascists and communists are one and the same. What Fayulu, Katumbi, and Mukwege have in common with Antifa is fascism. Their staunch capitalism is empty words. Everything within the state and nothing without the state is what they are really about. They think with the blood of their tribe. Hitler is a leftist, and Lumumba is a rightist. Tyranny on the left, liberty on the right. Christianity is part of the problem. Our Christianity is a fake religion founded on blood sacrifice, sin, and altruism. Christianity is communism. Sell Your Possessions is the abolition of private property, and yet it's red letters. Zambia was founded as a Christian nation, and Kaunda was a communist. Zambia used to be Rhodesia, which sent the mercenaries. Both racist Rhodesia and communist Zambia are evidence of Democrat behavior. Missionaries are Democrats. Hichilema is a black conservative, and they never knew him. Calvinists meet behind closed doors to plan the spread of Critical Race Theory in the church. They used to create the Manichean cities that Frantz Fanon exposed. Rwanda is a Clinton altruistic project that went totally awry. Kagame is a Clinton puppet. Altruism is killing in the Congo, and I have had it with billionaire philanthropy. It is better to waste my life playing video games than to meddle in foreign affairs. I find meaning in life by exposing this altruistic madness. The USA can do more for the Congo by cutting the Rwanda crap than all the missionary social gospeling outreach combined. Ceasefire is gun control by colonizers. Imperialism is a liberal agenda. The classical philosophers used to understand leisure. We should work for the good of humanity as a labor of love, not a living sacrifice. The true gospel is Christ grace truth unto life, not law sin lies. Christ grace truth so happens to be African spirituality. We are all sons of the most high. Lumumba had the Christ grace truth. His confession: our lot was worse than death itself. The curse of the law did a number on the Congo. Mystery Babylon who trafficked in blood battery electric cars crucified Christ afresh. Without dignity there is no freedom.
A cinema camera, today, is the camera they used to shoot the movie. Nothing else matters. There isn't one single digital camera in production today that puts out an image READY for cinema presentation, so no camera is a cinema camera. People like to believe that more important is the lens selection or the lighting, but somehow always forget about post or put it way down on their list. IMHO post work is what makes an image ready for cinema release so the most valuable asset in the movie businesses isn't something material but the knowledge and talent to make something our brains immediately identify as a "movie". In this context, the cinema camera debate is just silly.
This was super helpful, thank you! New sub: your footage looks beautiful.
since Panasonic came out with the 10bit GH5 and BlackMagic with the Pocket cinema...we have moved away from gear to user skill set and taste....however I have a ten bit monitor and some of the Red Raptor footage I have seen is next level...however this said...is the price difference worth 40k vs 2.4k...not sure anymore...
