The crop kills it - open gate 6K RAW 12 bit is what Sony should make the FX 30 RAW feed - but it never will because it would kill the FX3 in many settings! They could easily do it (RAW images have no processing in camera so the processors will not be stressed.) I agree that the native 10-bit codecs are really good and make the most sense for almost all users.
Interesting your comment on the noise of the FX 30 - at ISO 800- non-RAW- it is basically the same as the FX3 (probably because of the 6K oversampled image). At ISO 2500 it is cleaner than the FX3 at 12,800 - so as long as you don't need the crazy high ISO the FX 30 is arguably a cleaner image than the FX3!

Definitely agree that some sort of 6K raw would’ve been awesome! Maybe we’ll see that in a future iteration of this or other Sony cameras. So many people now love the open gate format!

They should enable open gate. It’s ridiculous. I regret buying this camera. An S5ii would have been a smarter choice.

Sony always nerf cameras to protect other bodies.

Very informative video, with your amount of subscribers it's very well done. Wish you well!

The “noise” is not a negative. Bypassing g the in body NR is a positive.

Only if you have the processing power/time to deal with that added step in the workflow. There are other cameras that shoot in raw with a lot less noise.

I wish more than anything for a fx30 with an un-cropped ProRes raw workflow. I have my FS7 and I have built a great collection of S35 cine glass for that so I guess that is what I will stick with for now and over expose for noise there. But at least I get ProRes without an additional crop.

The crop is a dealbreaker for recording in raw.... but... can you still record prores 422 with the full sensor?

I owe you a huge debt of gratitude. I was going to get an FX30 for my green screen virtual production. For me the additional cost of RAW is worth it for my indie TV show. Looks like I'm stuck with the FX3. I might be able to use a Sony A7C MK1 using SLog3 to get more dynamic range in the shadows. I need to know if the A6700 has a crop with HDR10 on the HDMI port.

    Fx30ってninjaだと60フレーム撮影できないんじゃなかったでしたっけ? ninjavだとそうだったんですけど、新形のninjaだと撮影できますか?

Pro res raw would do wonders for wildlife videography

Unfortunately, a few months ago, a bottle of water spilled on my PC and destroyed it, so I initially built a significantly inferior one from old parts. With this setup, despite having an RTX 3070 GPU, I'm experiencing difficulties editing and color grading videos. When working with ProRes Raw via Atomos, it's primarily the denoising that poses some issues, but otherwise, the files are much easier to handle. Storage space isn't an issue for me, and i also dont realy like all that compressed codecs.. I like working with RAW!

That’s rough! Denoising footage does really tax your processor despite prores raw being so fast!

What program are you denoising in? Some programs (Resolve in particular) will let you cache the effect to alleviate the performance impact.

@@andrewjeffreys I’m typically using Neat Video but I have Resolve so that’s good to know! 🙌 Thanks for the tip!

I tried Neat Video Pro, but Davinci crashes if I use it too intensively. If i just put it on without trying to get better denoising results i had no issues, only when playing along@@andrewjeffreys

But thank you very much for this info, just checked and it seems caching should also work with Neat Video. I use Davinci+Neat Video, dont know what happend with my last comment, it does not show up@@andrewjeffreys

I don't think I'll be shooting raw with the FX30. My Sony 10-20mm f/4 PZ zoom lens would work perfectly for that, but is going to lack bokeh, that turns into a 22.5-45mm lens, but the f/4 might be problematic.
