What is the genetic history of Switzerland and what haplogroups are common among Swiss people today? Now 4 official languages are spoken in Switzerland, with German the most common, followed by French, Italian and Romansh. As you can see in this map, the country is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.
Switzerland, officially known as the Swiss Confederation, originates from the Old Swiss Confederacy established in the Late Middle Ages, following a series of military successes against Austria and Burgundy. The Federal Charter of 1291 is considered the country's founding document, with Swiss independence from the Holy Roman Empire formally recognised in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. The modern federal state of Switzerland was established with the adoption of the Swiss Federal Constitution in 1848 however. An interesting point to note is that Switzerland has maintained a policy of armed neutrality since the 16th century and has not fought an international war since 1815.
But what about the genetic history of Switzerland? Well a really interesting study was published in 2020 that looked at the ancient genetics of Switzerland during the Late Neolithic period. It analysed 96 ancient genomes from Switzerland, Southern Germany, and the Alsace region in France, covering the Middle/Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. One of their central findings was that there was “an arrival of ancestry related to Late Neolithic pastoralists from the Pontic-Caspian steppe in Switzerland as early as 2860-2460 BC.”

What is the Origin and Reason for Gray Eyes?
I am an American. My father was nearly 100% Germanic with dash of baltics, Sweden, and The Netherlands. My mother was mostly English with a little Germanic, Scotland, Ireland. My father had dishwater blonde hair and ice blue eyes and pale complexion. My mother had dark brown hair, hazel eyes and olive skin. My ex-husband who is Swedish, Germanic, and French is very pale with light brown hair with green eyes. Our child has light brown hair and gray eyes, but because of their facial features people always think they are mixed with African, but the DNA shows none that in the DNA.
I’m black American with dark brown eyes my husband is Dutch with light blue eyes our baby came out with hazel blue/grey eyes. It makes sense that these regions of the world have hazel eyes as Moorish/African and Turkish genetics mixed quite often and passed the gene down to their descendants.
Hail to the Free People of Earth 😊❤
Hazel eyes. USA. Swedish, German ancestry
Holy shiet, as german your accent is quite hard to understand. 🤣
I was told I have hazel eyes. But like they are a greenish blue with like yellow/gold. They can look more blue or more green depending. 🤷🏼
My siblings all have blue eyes. I'm the only one with hazel eyes
Bitte deutsch sprechen, möchte es aus verstehen!
Is it true that most UFO abductees have green or hazel eyes? 🤔👽.
My my that accent is difficult! I have also no idea what haplo means or these letters
My eyes change colors. I have hazel eyes and depends on my mood they change. They turn blue, gray, and green. It depends on my mood were they change to bright blue, green and gray. Plus sometimes they go dark that scared the $hit out of my wife!
I have hazel eyes. Me and my dad 🖤
Maybe it is different in other kantons, but after living in 🇨🇭 for 2 decades i have not once heard a swiss talk about swiss genes.
If, then about the genome or haplogroups. But people usually have no idea about genetics, as well biology, physics.
Did you enhance the color, or did she eat spice (Dune) ?
My Hazel eyes are mostly green, but I'm German on my paternal side...
It’s all about blood type and the modification of humans about 6000 years ago. And recessive gene strategy by a very smart God.
My husband has hazel eyes, he is Italian, ❤❤
I found the blue eyes beautiful but not the blond hair . No hate to anyone, it's just my opinion . 😅
I have hazel eyes and it’s funny because depending on what I wear they can look more green or more brown.
Most Spaniards descend from Carpeto-Veton tribes contemporary with the Turdetans-Iberians descendants of the Tartessian and proto-celtic El Algar cultures called Atlanteans by ancient Greeks.
My Mom had typical hazel eyes. ( Lt brown, amber, green) My Dad had a solid medium blue. My eyes were light blue until I hit adulthood now there is a dark blue band around the Iris and the Iris color changes from blue to grey. Is this a type of hazel or something else entirely?
Deutscher Titel, aber englisch gesprochen❓ Was soll die Scheisse❓💩
I was 100% daddy's girl, he was Swedish, my mom was Finnish from Carelia and I distanced myself completely from her. When she died I hadn't seen her in 17 years. I'm born and live in Finland though, and many people have told me I'm so typical Carelian, "Oh, you are so Carelian". I have always felt a magnetic attraction to Ural, longing for visiting eg Jekaterinburg at the most southern part of the Ural mountains. Some 10 years ago I learned that the research points to the Carelians comes from the southern parts of Urals to Finland. It was news to me and I was surprised of course as I feel myself connected to that region. As I cannot have been influenced by my mother, due to me totally staying away from her, I'm convinced my DNA is most influenced by my Carelian ancestors. The DNA can't be influenced by your relationships to your parents, be it good or bad, right? Recently, I started to take a closer look on my dad's family history in Sweden, for the first time. They are all from a small, before days a quite isolated village, e.g both of my dad's parents are born here. As this small place have remains from both BC as well as historical monuments from the Viking era I thought it must be very pure Swedish DNA in the genes. I'm really curious about the place and I'm going to visit it asap. Anyway, interesting is that I don't feel myself very attracted to that area or place. My citizenship and first language is Swedish as I lived in and went to school in Sweden but I don't feel rooted to any place in Sweden in the same way as I feel rooted to a place I have never, ever even visited - Southern Urals! Next year I'm planning to do some DNA tests, I'm already looking forward the results. As a daddy's girl, I was really very close to my dad, somehow I'm not influenced by where he came from. So is it like the DNA is a lottery? I know there are many different DNA tests, I heard one shall take as many as possible to get an accurate result. Well, thank you for this informative video, it looks like ther is no pure, typical Swedish DNA after all, according to your lecture. It was interesting to watch indeed. I'll check your other videos too. Liked and subscribed!🎉
My eyes have been predominantly green most of my life, but as I got older they have taken on a more bluish color. My mother had brown eyes and my dad had gray/blue eyes.
I have light brown that changes lighter in the sun, when I color my hair, and under fluorescent lights
What about the retoromans
Hazel
I don't have green eyes. I don't have blue eyes. I don't have hazel eyes. They are all three at the same time. I call the color teal and there are no videos on it. I have Irish, German, British, and Native American ancestry.
I find this video lecture a bit laughable. The Spaniards are the most genetically tested people in Europe. In Galicia the Semitic/ North African gene is 2.8 percent and in the southern regions 3.7 percent. Now let us compare in some regions of Southern Italy Calibria, and Sicily, the North African/Arab or Semitic admixture is between 3.8 to 7 percent. Similar numbers of gene sequence are scene in Southern France. And yes Arab/Berbers held Marseille which as I stated is in Southern France. My relatives in Central France refer to it as Little Algeria. My conclusion is that the North African/ Semitic admixture is pretty low. Hardly making a dent in the over all gene nome . It is obvious to me that this gentleman is liberally interpreting fact to fit that old British biased of Southern European not being white enough while pretending that there some sort scientific breakthrough. Much of the information used bye this fellow had been large disproven. There are reputable information written bye Stephen Oppenheimer, Dr Sforza, others in the field to lengthy to list. Perhaps we should read recent published works of geneticist, anthropologist, and historians in field of study. As for this fellow, he should try to enter the entertainment field. There he will find a larger audience.
I have hazel eyes. Mine run on the green side. I’m from Vermont, US.
My Hazel eyes can become, gray, or blue or blue green depending on what I'm wearing near my face...on overcast days they are blueish gray, on sunny days they'll exhibit some more blue, but I'm always seem to have an golden centre ring If your geographic area for the most common areas of hazel eye origin is somewhat correct, and with my ancestry coming from eastern eroupe, Norway, Sweden, Ireland and Poland to list a few makes me wonder 🤔
American with hazel eyes. German/Scottish heritage. Women absolutely have LOVED gazing into my eyes my whole life. They say they can see them change from brown to green to a honey color as our conversations deepen.
Blond Hair and Blue Eyes are stunningly Beautiful; however there are Mediterraneans, with Dark Hair(with the sheen of a young Raven) and piercing Dark Eyes with fine features and defined noses that are strikingly Beautiful as well. All Races have their own Beauty standards as Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!
I have one green/hazel and one brown/hazel eye. Sometimes people think I actually have one green eye and one brown eye, but they are truly hazel. My father had brown eyes, my mother had greenish eyes, but my siblings have blue or grey eyes. Nobody else in the family has hazel eyes. Our family originated mostly in Scotland, with a smattering of English.
I am 73 and have red hair and blue eyes. I also have few grey hairs. As a child, my hair color was called carrot top..As I grew older, my hair color changed to auburn. My daughter is half Japanese but has had my auburn color hair since birth. She is now 34 and her color is still auburn. I love our hair color.😢
so WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are spreading MISINFORMATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have Hazel eyes and blonde hair. I'm mostly Ukrainian and Polish, and Irish and Scottish. (As per my family - confirmed with one of those mail in dna tests that my sister did) 🤷♀️
I have 💩 color eyes. I cant stand them. Hazel is a little better but not much
. Die Retoromane werdenden nicht erwähnt die nörtlichen Regenwalltindianeer wurden durch die Kelteiscben Kopfjäger asimiliert vor 4000 Jahren
So mine are blue and green and change colors depending on what I'm wearing. What is my eye color?
I have hazel eyes, my family comes from Ireland.
❤ from Turicum 😊
❤ from Zürich. We love our fantastic 🇨🇭
I have hazel eyes. I'm a Hispanic New Mexican with Irish, Scottish, Welsh in my DNA.
What about heterochromia?
I am from Turkey. My maternal side and paternal side both striking hazel eyes with lots of green, only some cousins of mine have hazel eyes with gold mixed. I am the only one with brown eyes 😂
speak slower, it is important, but I cannot keep up and still make sense of your grafics.
I'd love to put my DNA on the chick's face from the thumbnail...
