I had asked in a previous comment if anyone knew who played the title Susan in this episode. After some research the best I can determine it was an actress named Susan Whitney. I hope if anyone else was wondering who played that part. This is helpful.

I’ve been going through the Bailey stories in order, and so far this is next to The Valentine Manner as my favorite story. It had such a different angle and it worked great.

Thanls for your posting. I'm a fan of YTJD, and as many do, I like Bob Bailey but not exclusively. What I really like about your presentation is, that you post photos of the character actors, and CBS had a fair share in it's stable, I'm a huge fan of OTR's Gunsmoke and Broadway is My Beat, and Rocky Jordan. Many of these actors found work on each. I've often tried to guess who's who by their voice, but seeing their faces is an added bonus. Many Thanks for this added incentive to follow your airings.

I love the fact that you show the actors as we listen to the video. Bob Bailey is definitely the best Johnny Dollar.

Perfect Radio show for an old soul like mine!!!

I listen when ever I am driving and eating my dinner. And the best time when I am in bed. My grandfather turned me on to the old classics. My first time I was 5 years old. We were playing bunko in our kitchen. PA said hey ty you want to listen to something interesting. I said sure PA. SO he turned on his Panasonic clock radio. He turned on CBS Radio mysteries. I was 5 it was 1969 and I am 61 years old and own about 2300 cd's and tapes of all the classics. Thank you PA.

Long time OTR fan and listener. This JD story is the BEST one in a long series of tremendous five-part series of the famous fabulous free lance insurance investigator. The highlight of this story is Susan Whitney as granddaughter Susan Greemley (sp); she’s a tremendous radio talent and I can’t believe she didn’t morph into a major Hollywood star. She has great presence for a young girl and proves an excellent match for ‘our star’. This story is also the peak story and piece of gumshoe writing in not just all the JD stories, but the entire genre of radio detective stories from all sources, IMO. All of the supporting actors in the story are perfect fits, and Johnny is at his sardonic best as he works through a cast of trouble out in Flintrock, near Las Vegas. Listen up, you’ll really like this one!

John Dehner has a very recognizable voice. And the suicidal woman…Virginia Gregg.

No listing of the actors, like other videos but I’m 99% sure Amy is an actress who’s in a lot of these, Virginia Gregg.

I have to say, Johnny Dollar radio shows are my favorite.

Although I am an avid and nightly binge fan I was unable to get through The Lamarr Matter. I found The Beating Around the Bush Man just too much bad dialog to take. I'll try again another time. I am also tired of hearing the same actress play so many of the female voices in so many episodes. Also the Jump to the Wrong Conclusion persona of JD is getting too predictable and annoying to hear anymore of. However I will try again tomorrow. Maybe I am just tired...

Ben Wright does a lot of dialects. In the Have Gun Will Travel radio show, he plays a Chinese man.

"That tie is going to hang you." That was a rather unconventional method, even for those days! Bob Bailey was the perfect version of Johnny Dollar, playing it with just the right amount of humour and grit.

More smoking, which makes me think JD had a tobacco company for a sponsor.

Violins doubling as machine guns. LOL.

The titles of JD’s videos, mostly have “MATTER” in them, while the Dragnet series all have “BIG” in them. Just an observation.

I’m wondering if this program was sponsored by a cigarette company because in almost every episode, they’re smoking but they don’t name any brand when they offer them.

Time goes so fast listening to these episodes but well worth the time spent.

Will Wright’s voice is so unmistakable. And JD is a Brother Marine. I served 68-70, in Chu Lai 68-69 1st MAW.

Right off the bat, Harry Bartell got on my nerves. Well, at the conclusion of the first act, I stopped listening to this one. Too stupid for me. On to the next JD show. It HAS TO BE better.
