I had a bad reactio n to it. The first time i applied it almost instantly my skin was burning a little but i thought it started working. I used it twice a day for 4 days and my face got dry, red, itchy, burning and flaky. I stopped using it i have one dark spot on my forehead and hyperpigmentation. I use sunscreen all the time. I dont know which ingredient i reacted to but can you recommend a serum as effective but not irritating?

Along with the crepey texture of my skin, I noticed that my hands were looking older as I’d lost so much volume in them. I’ve since had my hands filled with Sculptra, one of the longer lasting fillers and advertised to last 2 years, a product that also increases collagen production.

Try Nizoral dandruff shampoo. I have fungal acne myself and before I knew what it was nothing worked. When I went to get a facial the esthetician told me I had fungal acne and when I looked into treatments a dermatologist suggested Nizoral. I bought some and that has worked for me.

I get it along my jawline. I wash my face with it when I shower. I’ll wet my face, put some of the shampoo in the spot where the fungal acne is and leave it there while I wash my body. Then I wash it off since you’re supposed to leave it on for about 5 mins

Eh. These actually seem high maintenance. Seems like you need a certain temperature and certain gentle stream of water for these to melt. Like "HOW" would a shower or "WHAT" shower stream would you use for these? I'm definitely reading some negative reviews on these like if you keep them in a humid bathroom they're gonna get gooey and ruined. They need to be in a dry, drawer. So this seems like a "sink" friendly product but not for the shower

First of all, great video. Having gone through TSW and come out the other side, I can relate to the observations and comments you have made. I should add that I did see Dr. Rapaport once when I was about a year into TSW. He confirmed the diagnosis; also he noted that my skin biopsy was consistent with the condition. I will say that for 3 years, it was utterly agonizing for me. I couldn't really accomplish much, and I found myself sensitive to so many things from sunlight to various materials and fabrics. As you indicated, in TSW, the skin is highly compromised. In my case, lots of things seemed to make matters worse, even the various emollients I tried. At this point, I want add that I discovered that I was highly sensitive to synthetic fabrics, like polyester. To this day, even though my skin is totally normal now (and better than ever), I wear 100% cotton clothes, and sleep in soft cotton sheets. So, I would suggest that any patients going through TSW keep an eye out for "triggers". Your skin will be jacked up anyway, but you may discover a pattern of exposure that leads to a flare up. I would also suggest that the vascular dilation issue is probably the most important mechanism. Anything that induces those blood vessels to dilate more is going to add to the agony and symptoms. In fact, I found gentle 100% cotton wraps and compressions to very helpful. When my hands were really out of control, I would wrap some cotton gauze around them, and then put on arthritis compression gloves (from Walgreens). This really helped to curtail the swelling and oozing. If the cotton is stuck to the ooze, I would simply run it under water, and it slides right off, rather than ripping the cotton wrap away and tearing the skin. Which leads to one other observation I developed from my suffering: the crusty flakes that form on your skin are like little shields and help protect the compromised skin. At first I'd kept sloughing off these annoying flakes that formed, but eventually I realized they helped form a barrier. So, it became this battle to endure the flakes for at least some period of time. Some other things I found helpful was iodine tincture on the cuts/cracks then covered with a thin layer of "Surgeon's Skin Secret Moisturizer, Unscented"...it's a beeswax salve. I also used a coal tar cream from time to time, though this is somewhat controversial, as I understand it, due to cancer risks with the tar, so I tried to resist that one. I also used Noble Formula Pyrithione Zinc (ZnP) .25% Maximum Strength Cream on some of the red splotches. This seemed to offer some sun protection. But, during TSW at least, I couldn't wear any sun screens, they caused flare ups, so I would wrap up my head and neck and face with cotton fabric before going outside on a drive or to run an errand. Anyway, long story short, like you said, it's trial and error to see what works and what you can tolerate...and even that changes over time. TSW is the absolute worse, and you have to wrap your head around the idea that you have no real control over it, and only time will ultimately solve the problem. I will add that, obviously, if I had know there was the slightest chance that I might wind up with this kind of brutal skin condition from a steroid cream, I would never have used it in the first place, and certainly not on any regular basis. I never used much, anyway, but just a dab here an there if I had a patch of irritation. Personally, I believe the numbers of people adversely impacted by steroids are much higher than anyone realizes. When I went to my local dermatologist(s)--I went to several over this problem--none of them had any clue about TSW. This was 10 years ago, but even so... And, when I described the the condition, of the 6 or so doctors I saw, only one of them, fresh out of medical school, showed any interest in it. I think steroid creams are such an important tool in dermatology, it's hard for practitioners to come to grips with the idea that the therapy might be perpetuating the problem. I feel in limited duration use cases, steroid creams are probably essential. Over the long haul there are probably some people who can use them, even all the time, and not have a problem. But, other people need to be warned that this TSW thing is out there, and if you fall into its trap, there isn't much you can do about it, but bite the bullet and suffer for months or years. It will destroy your life in that case, and all most dermatologists offer to do is give you more steroids. So, I commend you on looking objectively at this problem, but I don't think it's rare at all. I'll bet there are millions of people who are addicted to steroid creams and don't even know it. And, btw, since I got off steroid creams and shampoos, the really bad dandruff problem I had for decades, totally went away. I'd had a flaky scalp since junior high, about the time I was using hydrocortisone somewhat regularly. The dandruff is totally gone now. Who knows what other impacts that over the counter drug was having? So, I think this is a prevalent problem, but the medical system sees little value in dealing with it. Thankfully, there are doctors like you who are taking notice.

I don't know about anyone else's experience, but I used to sweat severely under my arms, to the point it was running down my sides in rivulets during the day. The more anti-perspirant I used, the worse it (and my yellow pit stains) got. I even tried a prescription formula for hyperhydrosis that BURNED like hell. As soon as I switched back to pure deodorant, my excessive sweating stopped. Maybe it was just timing (getting a little older), I don't know, but I've never gone back to anti-perspirant and never had excessive sweating again.
