Finding Fins
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ม.ค. 2021
We're Nick & Charlotte and these are our adventures in our little orange van where we travel across the UK in the search of whales and dolphins, including our favourite animal - ORCA!
We're not photographers and don't want to be - we just want to show people what amazing animals we have in our waters along with looking back at the amazing encounters we have with them! We show that you don't need professional equipment or to be an 'expert' to do so either!

Winter Orca Sightings in Orkney (Busta & The 65s)
We have another few days of encounters with Busta & the 65s while in Orkney! In typical Busta fashion, they were just out of reach on both encounters but its still always so special seeing Orca (Killer Whales) - at any distance!
We have our first brief sighting of this amazing pod of Orca towards the end of the day on the West coast of Orkney mainland, they had been seen heading North at Yesnaby so we managed to get ahead of them with a brief sighting at Marwick & the Brough of Birsay before the light faded (at around 4pm!)
The day started off with an early sighting of them viewed from Hoxa Head over towards Flotta where we watched them feeding with lots of birds picking up the scraps. The pod then made their way up the East side of Flotta, giving us slightly closer views before heading North into Scapa Flow.
We headed North and caught up with them again as they were heading towards Scapa, then they spent the rest of the day up and down the Flow.

Finding BUSTA in Orkney!
มุมมอง 19814 วันที่ผ่านมา
We have our BEST encounter to date with Busta & the 65s Orca pod in Orkney! Busta is usually a tricky one for us to have an encounter with, always evading us or showing up in darkness or horrendous weather, but today was different! We started the day off with really distant views of a pod of Orca (Killer Whales) down the South of Orkney, then a report went out of another pod up North, so being ...

We have the BEST surprise ever while out on a coastal walk on the East coast of Orkney mainland. We stumble upon none other than some of the 27s pod, including one of our favourite Orca - Bull 34! We had seen the other half of the pod as the light was fading in Kirkwall Bay only a few nights before! (See below for video of that encounter). th-cam.com/video/MOBQsXBsJiI/w-d-xo.html As we were on ...
Killer Whales Hunting Birds in Scotland!

Aerial footage of the 27s Orca (Killer Whale) pod hunting birds off Orkney, Scotland. This pod is well known for coming close to shore in the search of their favourite prey (seals & porpoises) however, we have seen them chasing and hunting birds on a number of different occasions also! This footage was taken in Orkney, December 2024 while the 27s pod was still split. On this encounter we saw 4 ...

We take a look back at some INCEREDIBLE Orca encounters from all over Scotland in 2024! Over the year was had some super close encounters with both parts of the split 27s pods and we also have a number of encounters with an Orca who has been very elusive to us in the past - Busta! The year started off with some distant sightings of Icelandic duo Hulk & Nott and the 19s pod off the coast of Cait...
Watching ORCA at NIGHT in ORKNEY!
มุมมอง 332หลายเดือนก่อน
We're back in Orkney and have a late night (4pm!) encounter with some of the famous 27s Orca (killer whale) pod including the impressive Bull 72! A pod of Orca had been seen earlier in the day near Shapinsay so we took a gamble and searched and waited around the top of mainland Orkney until the light was fading. The pod was then seen entering Kirkwall harbour as we were just around the corner! ...

Absolutely wonderful footage 😍
@rach1972 thank you! 🦭
Just seeing them at distance is great in itself, and on Orkney, one of my favourite places in the British Isles.
It really is 😊 Thanks for watching!
The shark

He's so cute. I hope he finds some friends soon and doesn't stay on his own for very long. 😊🩵🦦✌️
Superb, is there any ferry tours in orkney which can take me close to orcas ?
Just the ferry over from the mainland, but you just need to time it with when the orca are in the area! Thanks for watching 💙
HOW IS THE WATER TEMPERATURE IN THOSE BEAUTIFUL BEACHES ON JULY AND AUGUST? THANK YOU FRIENDS
Absolutely freezing! 🥶🥶🥶
@findingfinsuk. COMO ON!...I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE I WANNA GO TO EXPERIENCE TO VISIT THAT AWESOME LAND FOR THE FIRST TIME OF MY LIFE....I SAW THE SCENORY IN TH-cam..THANKS
How tall do you think his dorsal fin is?! I love your videos so much! What a dream 😊
@stevenson08x it must be between 5-6 foot! Absolute beast! Thanks so much, really appreciate that 😊💙
@ wow!!!! You guys are so lucky to witness all these amazing creatures! Keep it up 🙌🏻 especially love seeing the drone shots and hearing the power of their blows!
@stevenson08x honestly, nothing beats it. It's gets so addicting too and you're always after then next sighting/encounter straight after 😁 it definitely isn't easy though, sometimes it can take months for a sighting then multiple come along at once! We hope you get go see them soon! 💙
That's awesome!
@@samwell6915 thanks for watching! 🖤
Amazing video ❤. I have just come back from NZ and missed Orca in Kaikoura by three days 😢. Still never seen one. I may have to try my luck in Shetland
@williamgraham2477 the videos of them NZ orca looked incredible! Mainland Scotland is just as good too, especially around the end of May time 😊 Thanks for watching! 💙
Absolutely fantastic! Amazing footage. Thanks guys ❤
@jaynebradbury9070 thanks so much! 💙
Just try and knock me off this rock! Hope the poor thing made it. Nature is so violent and horrible.
@@lcarruthers100 yeah, the seal survived this time. The pod moved away 🦭
My poor favorite animals. They were just hungry. 😢
Amazing drone shots. Never seen them chase birds before either! Wow! Getting your miles in there too on that cliff run! Good effort guys, love it!
Thank you! We've seen this pod chasing them on a couple of occasions, makes a change from seeing them going after seals! Haha yeah, definitely need to improve fitness 😅😅 always out of breathe on an orca run! 💙
great drone footage, well done
@@garyshuttleworth3459 thank you!
Such an insufferable lass. Would've preferred hearing what the bloke had to say! She made this video intolerable.
Wow
I'll be taking the Stromness to Scrabster route back to Aberdeen, I've been so many times up to Kirkwall again and back fræ Aberdeen, and My Ladyfriend Anita is from Thurso herself.
Are these Oceanic Orcas? I’ve heard Transients and Residents stay fairly close to shore, so considered coastal orcas. I’ve never seen any, but I hear about the Oceanic Orcas that stay out in open ocean. Maybe you aren’t far from shore, but wondering. If these aren’t them, have you ever seen Oceanic Orcas? Thanks! Be careful!
We have the West Coast Community and The Northern Isles Community who frequent our waters year round, often coming close to shore in search of their prey (seals and porpoises) and also have offshore pods too (mainly fish eaters). We get Icelandic pods visiting our waters throughout the year too 💙
Fantastic watch and happy new year folks. I’m thinking of going up to Shetland or Orkney beginning of February for a few days as it’s on our bucket list for many of years. loving the videos.
@Carltransporter Thank you! A bit of a throw back haha but nice to look back at the sightings from previous years 😊 Happy New Year! Ah that sounds good, fingers crossed you get some orca! Thanks for watching! 💙
Thank you, That was spectacular. Happy New year.
Thank you! Happy New Year! 💙
Awesome. Happy new year guys!
Happy New Year! 💙
I have seen dolphins do awful things to other pods, such as stealing babies or killing them. However, I have never witnessed the Occas turn on another pod and attack them. Phew!
When you see your death... --------------------------------- Когда ты видишь свою смерть...
Amazing encounters. Is there a way to track them via their GPS tags or are these orca not tagged?
Thank you! No, they're not tagged. Once they're sighted by someone they can usually be followed up or down the coast so just have to try and get ahead of them 💙
Lovely summary of your encounters in 2024. Happy New Year and cheers to 2025 and more orca sightings 🥂🎉
@karenrobinson2071 ah thank you! Happy New Year! Fingers crossed for many more! 💙
Amazing encounters even though it was frustrating at times 🎉
@@Scottishorcaadventures gotta love our 8 mile horizon sightings 😂
Great recap guys Happy New year 💙
Thank you as always, Happy New Year guys, have a good one! 💙
Mega schöne Aufnahme 🥰💙🌸
Thank you! 💙 💙
Those orcas are terrorizing that seal, notice how they purposely show their fins? One coming up slowly and closely in front of him and then the other from behind? It’s interesting.
You have such drive for the Orcas and it shows everyday account's on them. I love watching your clips on them as i too love the Orcas. All the best. 🖤🤍✌️
Ah thanks so much! We really appreciate that 😊💙
Thank you for the video :)
💙
Killer whales are smart animals. Really smart and I believe they have an innate sense to not attack humans. Very few records of this.
Nice!
