You need a motor separately Luke. Standard 540 goes well but a Torque or Sport Tuned goes well too. Just watch that ball diff. If you watch my build series you’ll see I had a few issues with the diff nut.

Thanks Luke! I got lucky with this one as some of my creations recently have been a little hit and miss. The TD2 is a banger of a chassis in my opinion and I really like the Astute body on it personally. Looks like a F1 buggy to me. Good luck with the body pal

Cheers Toby! The TFE is a absolute beast but I think you are right with the spiked tyres. We have a set to go onto the Durga over the winter to see if it makes a difference!

Hey Bob, sorry your comment got lost pal. You are right about the driving being the difference but I can also assure you I was driving the DB01 pretty hard also. The TFE just seems to go better on the OR. I am sure next year will be another story 😁 I have a TD4 in the build queue so one day we’ll get to see that beauty taking on these 4WD buggies on the OR. Unfortunately it wont make it up the queue this year as I have to refresh the Falcon and I am keen to put the Terra Scorcher out (I want to build the High Caps!!

Never been a big fan of the Bigwig though which should save my wallet! The TFE is a stunner though Glenn. Great build and even better drive 😎

Hey Mauzy! I think you are correct which is why the Durga is getting that upgrade too! Some new tyres should make that buggy kick on a notch and regain its position as the Orchard boss! To be fair it is such an easy buggy to drive even on those carpet tyres so I am sure we’ll see it put up more of a fight. Has one of them got the ability to go below 5 though???

Cheers Fil! Glad you enjoyed it brother. The Terra Scorcher is going to have a go next year and then we have the Egress and the TD4 waiting on the sidelines to have a go at the champ!! I also think that the TT02B with some new tyres will put in a good shift next season. Will the 2WD models be able to find another gear?? The TD2 goes well on its day and the Madcap Astute will also be in the mixer!!

It was a safe bet I think but it is an amazing RC. I have a few in reserve that might topple it but it really is a fantastic RC

I agree with your assessment on a high end buggy. I am not sure they are set up to compete on my old school back garden track!! However, it might be fun to find out at some point. I considered the dirt cross but decided against it as I am not sure that open gear box will cope with my dirty track 😁

@theoagrc did have a quick dive into the Dirt Cross for you, it's got a lexan gearbox protector. So not quite as good as a full seal but would keep the worst of it out. No pressure mind you! Now the Associated B7 is out, would a used B6.4 be a good weapon for the yard? Basically as fast and much more sorted it turns out. As ever thanks for all the entertainment and content!

Now I have been wondering if a racer buggy might work. However, I am concerned that a modern racer is built for lovely smooth surfaces and not the undulating track from the Orchard! I have a Super Astute Rere coming later in the month and I think that will go well. Maybe I should give the Dirt Cross a chance to shine!

@@theoagrc oh the SA will be quick, be interesting to see how it compares to your MadStute too. Which reminds me, I shall drop you a DM about gearboxes and slippers if you're interested for the MadAstute. They do say a modern buggy can work on dirt, but I too have my doubts given all the tracks these days are billiard table smooth. Maybe something from the multi surface days like a TLR 22?

I was interested in finding a TRF201 or the like but they are so expensive. There was a cheaper version DN01 but the Zahhak was so limited and I just missed it back a few years! I am looking forward to seeing how the TD4 goes as that might be a contender even though I hate the battery set up

James, thanks for watching pal and I knew you would be over the moon with the end result! It was a very close contest though in the end and I am sure on a different day it could have gone the other way. The Durga is getting a new set of tyres so watch out for it next year 🔥 On to the off season now… the Egress might be held off for a season or two yet pal. Got to create the tension 😁

@@theoagrc Oh you little tease!! 😅 You know I love the Egress, and I can certainly remember Jamie Booth beating Kyoshos and Schumachers with it at the track in the early nineties! I have driven one many years ago, and I was really impressed. I wish I could bring myself to build mine..... but those blister packs just look too good to cut up! 😂 I may just by a second hand one as a runner next year. But for now, looking forward to the super Astute re release..... Just hope we see a decent amount come into the country. But for now, I couldn't be happier with the OR winner for 2024.....you done us old schoolers proud buddy! 😊 👍 👍

The Durga is exceptional value however I think that the Top Force is the easier to set up and drive as a novice. I bet the Durga can be set up to go really well in the right hands 😁

Hey Mark, I am glad you enjoyed it my friend. It really was a fantastic finish to the OR this year and I am so pleased with how it all turned out. The Top Force Evo is an amazing RC and it is clearly the best in my humble fleet. There are some subs coming in next year and I am hoping that 2025 brings another nail biter! It went so well out on the Orchard Sean! It was so close between them but the DB01 is running a brushless 15t motor and the TFE is a sliver can which still amazes me. Can’t wait to see how it eventually goes on something hotter but we’ll be going a few seasons until then 😀

I also thought sub 5.5 was going to be impossible Stef but here we are!! A new target for 2025 and I am going to leave the track largely unchanged for next year as I want to give everyone another bash at the track. Maybe some longer run times for 2025? @theoagrc A few more laps wouldn't hurt 😁 If every car runs a lap or 10 the overall or average lap time says more about how consistent the car performs or how easy it is to drive on a track. With only 5 laps you could end up more easily with a "1 lap wonder" + big bonus for me as more laps means more time for me watching cars go round the Orchard raceway.

Hey Addam, it was really close between these two. It is amazing considering the years between them. I am sure different track and different surfaces the outcome would be very different. I am switching the tyres on the DB01 to be the same… should have also pointed out that the TFE is running a silver can and that DB01 has a 15T brushless Tamiya motor in 😯🔥🚀

@theoagrc oh wow. Big difference in power. Possibly a significant difference in gear ratios between the two of them as requiring the faster motor in the Durga. I don't know enough about either to say for sure. Either way it was a great final showdown!

Hey Richard, don’t worry I have ways of evening up the field over time. The DT03 is running a sport tuned motor which makes the performance of the TFE even more impressive to be honest! It is a superior RC and I am so pleased to have been able to build one and drive it hard out on the OR. Will it beat the Durga though?

Hey Andy, hope you are well. The DT02 did not beat the DT03 in the heats. Unfortunately the rear tyres were worn on it but it is going to be going again in 2025 with some new shoes 😁 The Durga is a lovely chassis and drives so well out the box. Can’t wait for everyone to see the run 👍🏻

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC 🤣😂 Yeah the Orchard is really tight dude!! The DT03 really is a fabulous place for people to start in the hobby. Fun to drive and plenty of options for tuning. The difference though which is amazing, DT03 has a Sport Tuned motor and that Evo is on a silver can!!! 😎🔥 I think with a Sport Tuned the Evo would be well under 5s!! The Durga vs the Evo is going to be like Rocky vs Tommy Gunn 😁 Can’t wait to show you guys the content 🙌🏻

(I'm itching to get back on the 8 track with my TFE, Avante, Clod buster, Holiday buggy, mud blaster, and TRF custom top force amongst others..... but it's too cold for those other p*ssy green hawkers apparently!! 🤷‍♂️😬 Lightweight millenials are scared of a little bit of frost and darkness! May try and get Peter Smith down again Soon for it, he seems keen..... unfortunately it's not the sort of content that you can do solo!) I've got loads of running content planned, just can't get the staff! 🙄 Yeah man, I still can't believe that you are only running a silver can in that thing..... I found mine awfully slow, and swapped it up to a superstock after less than 5 minutes! But hey, that's the rules of the OR right, I get that. You could tell it was crying out for more power by the way the front end drooped off the jump..... It wanted to go to the moon just didn't have the oomph! 😂 But of course, on the flip side, more power equals less control.... especially on a tight garden track. Lots of fun non the less. 😊👍 👍

@@theoagrc You know what they say, "great minds think alike!!" 😂 Looking forward to future OR content mate, rest assured I will be checking in..... and the new jump sounds fun! 😊 Yep, it's frustrating for me that the others lack 'drive' this time of year, I've got pages of cool content ideas for racing/running footage, and I want to push the channel forward. Unfortunately we use Taylors iPhone to record/edit, meaning if I go out by myself I'm restricted to using my 1.3mp camera phone, which is really poor quality,which deteriorates even more once uploaded to the Tube. I've always been self employed, and push hard for success in all my ventures.... so I find it hard having to work with slackers!! 😂 Guna try and keep things ticking along myself over the next few months..... starting with a 4 part show and tell on my own personal fleet (monster trucks, buggies, road/rally and new in box) Hopefully it may provide some interesting content? I'm actually amazed how well that last 'time capsule' video done..... 1.8k views for 20 minutes of waffle recorded on an echoey 1.3mp phone that kept going out of focus!! 😂 I don't think I'm ever guna understand how this TH-cam algorithm works!!! 😅 Have a great weekend Craig. 😊 👍 👍
