Awesome upgrades for the car especially these shocks. As long you're not planning to jump, these uneven rear arms shouldn't be an issue. Best wishes for your participation Craig.
Hi Craig and thanks for the memories - it's been a while since I built my MF01X, lovely to see yours coming together. Oh dear, hop-ups not hopped! But I think it's a great idea to run it stock and see what happens. Thanks for the mention, anyone out there feel free to drop me a line! My SRC car will be basically stock with just a few tweaks and a very battered basher body! I need to get a shakedown run in soon and maybe a little video about it. Best of luck this year pal, you know it's going to be gloves off between you and me again this year. I'm only in it for the fun, no chance of winning from what I've seen out there already on the Facebook group - but you will be in my sights for the Mcfastest McMF01X in the McMidlands! 🤓🏁🤝🦫🤘
Hey McMark! You are the master at build videos so I had to give you a shout out. My chilled out talking build is never as detailed as yours. The hop ups were a disaster and I have a few extras coming in but I am likely to go stock for this year and see if I can be the fastest stock McMF01X in the McMidlands! Well each have our own titles this year 🤣😂
Nice little build up, Craig. I'm really eager to see your entries into this year's SRC! It's nice of you to offer to help out some of the other driver's too. Classic OAG move, what a great dude!
Cheers Fil! Anything to help out those wanting to get stuck into the challenge this year but wondering how to build a chassis. Hopefully my musings help someone along 😁
Running on the high setting, make sure to toss TWO rubber o rings into the dog bones mating to the trans. You WILL thank me late. The dog bones are notorious for popping out when its at its high setting. and this fix alone will solve your problem. Seriously. Keep this into consideration and do it off the bat. It'll save you the headache in the future. 3 years later and my MF has been solid as hell, infact way more reliable than me TT02 somehow.
Great advice! I might end up dropping it down for the speed run of the body shell can take it but I wanted to set up as a rally spec first and then tweak from there. I will be adding those extra o rings for sure. I am liking it more than the TT02 and it is good to hear that it can hold up also. Thanks for the feedback pal 🙌🏻
I got mine built and just got done tearing it all back apart and adding go fast stuff in it. I tested it on the bench and it is nutty! I think it is going to be fun and scary! LOL! Have fun with the rest of your build and best of luck on the speed runs! Loved seeing the kitty as well, she's adorable!
Cheers Addam. It is a fun chassis! Can’t understand why it doesn’t get more love? Looking forward to giving it a Rally session before I start to ramp up the speed!! Might need to relent a little and stick some foams on it though 😁
Glad I could help J! I have been very impressed with this M chassis variant and wish I had been building it sooner to run this season on the OR. It is a quick little chassis 😁
Lovely build video, Craig! It's got the quality of a Mark Bryan video, but I like that you added a couple sarcastic remarks in there, very nice! Bummer with the hop-ups not being applicable, I do think you should brave the bit of rain and get the oil for those dampers, he he... I'm looking forward to get my build started, see how it all pans out... One fun idea I am touing with, I wonder if it's possible to turn it back-to-front, put the steering components on the rear, run it backwards, make it into an XV-01, he he... I might just try that... This speedrun thing will go crazy this year...
Oh now that is an interesting idea Mads! You might be able to do that but it will depend on how the gear box attaches to the chassis. It would handle a lot differently with the motor over the front but for speed running wouldn’t the motor out the back be better?? Thanks for you lovely comments dude and enjoy the build 🙌🏻
@@theoagrc My kit shocks never even made it out of the bag! Went straight to Yeah Racing 50mm shocks, good value despite the springs being a tad on the strong side.
Hey Mauzy! Yep this was an epic hop up fail!! It happens and I am just pleased that I have some of those parts for the future if it survives the speed runs!!
You are right. There is loads of similarities to the TL chassis although it felt more straight forward. When I stripped my TL chassis down a last year it gave me a headache as it was not exactly logical 😂
Awesome entry video! It seems like the Beetle is the most popular of the bunch so far and it's really cool to see all the builds come to life. Plus, kittehs!
I think the escort body shell will be slightly quicker but this was what I had! I picked it up to rally but Fil just happened to make it the speed challenge this year and here we are 😁
Great start Craig!!! No worries about the rain man, only sugar and sh!t melt in the rain and you don't look like sugar to me.. LOL, Sorry old Marine Corps saying (well that's where I heard it). Cats?? I only seen one, I like cats ok but my body don't...
Im halfway through, but have you noticed the slop on the servosaver? Its not much but when whizzing its more than enough to wreck on. I did try to glue the servo saver and it got rid of the slop, but I also killed 2 servos.
Hey Danny, not noticed anything yet but I haven’t taken her up to warp speed yet!! If the servo saver is an issue I will probably look to get the HT one on there. Good luck with the runs pal 🙌🏻
WTF??? You've got my cat!!! 🙀 I've got exactly the same model of pussy..... Who's got the original, and who has the re re? 🤔 Mines called Sylvie Sausage, and she's an eight year old silver tabby! Very enjoyable build video mate, I know nothing about this chassis..... fun watching it go together. Bummer about the hop up arms, or should I say arm! But, I'm highly disappointed in that feeble excuse for not fitting those gorgeous dampers..... that's textbook Taylor behaviour that is! 🤷♂️ 🙄 Tutt Tutt. Best of luck in the challenge my friend, looking forward to following along! 👍 👍 👍
Marth has just turned 14 as is the original model! To be fair she is just like the day we got her. Playful, hates humans and likes her biscuits 😁 Yeah I was a fair weather softy on that evening as it was bucketing down. I then realised I don’t have enough 400 oil so I need to order some in. The arm was also frustrating but it now gives me chance to see how this one runs in stock form. My little test run has faired well so far 👍🏻
Awesome upgrades for the car especially these shocks. As long you're not planning to jump, these uneven rear arms shouldn't be an issue. Best wishes for your participation Craig.
Thanks Dirk. I am still going to hop this one up a little but it is becoming more of a OR project than the speed project

Awesome Craig! It’s fun to see everyone joining in on Fil’s speed challenge. It’s a neat looking chassis. Looking forward to the run my friend!😎
Cheers Sean. It is quite a quick chassis out the box. Feels better than the TT02 which surprised me. Makes me want to get a TA02 even more!!

Center driveshaft going for orbit if its the same soft alu as the early ta models

I am ready to roll… at a medium pace!
@@theoagrc same here.
Great build and May the wind be at your back! Great Luck!
I am going to need more than wind brother! I am tempted to try rockets this season!!

Nice work Craig, good luck with your speedrun! Will be interesting to see how the standard springs and dampers handle it!
Cheers Tony. I would say it will handle like a bag of bolts on those kit shocks!! But it was nice to build them quickly 😁
@@theoagrc My kit shocks never even made it out of the bag! Went straight to Yeah Racing 50mm shocks, good value despite the springs being a tad on the strong side.
Well from hop up to hop-not! I think it will be cool to see the changes from stock to hopped over time, and how it will affect the speeds etc!
Cheers

Very nice cat 😊 Seems the Beetle is "almost" everywhere 🧐 Great build 👍
It was an easy choice. Originally purchased to rally on the OR so having it speed about is a new experience for it 😯
Such a quick build, and lots of parts comparability with the M Chassis and the TL-01 series..
You are right. There is loads of similarities to the TL chassis although it felt more straight forward. When I stripped my TL chassis down a last year it gave me a headache as it was not exactly logical 😂
Your cat's going to use that box when you're finished.😂
Absolutely Brad!! Straight in there
Wide gears that can handle a bit of crazy. Sharing some design points with a ta02 by the looks of it.
Yeah I was surprised by how similar elements of the build were to the TA02/DF01 chassis. I think the TL chassis was also influenced by this design too
