- This walk from Victoria Bridge takes in the two east Munros of the Blackmount range. Stob a' Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar give an excellent loop walk with stunning views. The day had the bonus of a cloud inversion and settled weather conditions to fully enjoy the adventure.
Fantastic. Thanks. Brightened my day.
Hi Jane, Terrific that you got a wee lift from our adventure. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
Another fantastic video Charlie in stunning conditions, clear blue skies, frost, superb views, an inversion, just an absolute treat to watch. Take care,
Steven 😊👍🏴🏴
Hi Steven, That was strange as I've just finished watching your Ben Lawers outing. Just a pity the clag didn't play ball. As you saw, we had a cracker and fingers cross we'll have a few similar days through the winter. Take care, Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 I’m humbled Charlie, thanks for watching, unfortunately 3 days later I took a tumble on Meall Greigh when out with the lads, gonna be out for a few weeks so keep the videos coming I need something to watch lol. Take care 😊
@@outofayrshire143 I wish you a speedy recovery. This is probably the time you see good weather just an add to your frustration of not getting to the tops. Take it easy, nae rush. Cheers
Brilliant video. Excellent commentary. Thanks for uploading. The views were stunning.
Hi mallondan, Glad you enjoyed our latest outing. It was a stunning day and hopefully we have a few more to come early this winter. Cheers
Looks fabulous Charlie!
Absolutely stunning. What a day.
Hi Charles, It was a special day, hopefully a few others to experience through this coming winter. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
When you plan your trip do you have a reasonably good idea you will have a cloud inversion? It really adds to the views.
@@charlesrobert9527 If you experience low temperatures through the night and the following day is bright and clear then there is the possibilty of an inversion, especially if temperatures remain low, but its a bit hit and miss. You can also find it quite localised from glen to glen. Cheers
Nice walk, Charlie, in very envious. I miss Scotland for that .
Hi Andrew, Many thanks. Glad you were able to get a wee Scottish memory blast. Cheers
Another super day, hope to return there early next year. Thanks Again Charlie
Hi Vanessa, That might be a better time to visit these two as they would definitely benefit from having more snow to play around in. Cheers
Wow..fantastic day! Thanks for sharing charlie.
Hi Debbie, Many thanks..... it was a stunning day and a welcome return to these two after 4 years. Cheers
Wow. World class.
Hi George, Really glad you enjoyed our latest outing..... it was a cracker. Cheers
Tremendous video as always, the view of the ridge at 6:42 sun on the south side and shade on the north with the Lochan below, breathtaking stuff.
Thanks for a great video
Hi Rodger, Glad you enjoyed viewing yesterday's outing. The camera doesn't quite capture the scale of things but you certainly get a great feeling of the adventure. Cheers
Absolute belter, what a fantastic day you had 👍
Hello, Your spot on.... it was a cracker. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Don’t you just love days like that Charlie. Cold clear crisp days with a dusting of snow/frost.☀️❄️🏔🏔 great hike with tremendous views and the inversion was the icing on the cake.👍
Enjoyed that Charlie,
ATB
Frank
Hi Frank, It was a super day and similar to what we experienced last week although a bit colder. An inversion always adds a lot to the hills and you always get a wee lift walking through the clag into blue sky. It's turning mild again through this week so we'll have to see if we can make it three in a row. Cheers
Beautiful frosty tops Charlie, and nice inversion. Looked crystal clear up there. Interesting pattern of stripes on the lochan.
Hi Andy, Yes, it was a cracking day. The loch an patterns were odd and something I've never seen before in 40 years of walking... every day is a school day 🤣 Cheers
Fantastic video one of my favourite pair of Munro’s great views and a fantastic Corrie great mountain cheers
Hi Andrew, I can understand why this pair are on your favourite list as they are so well placed for some contrasting views across Rannoch and the surrounding tops. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 thanks merry Xmas to you both and best wishes to you and your families thanks so much for posting videos of your hikes in the Highlands living in South Wales I don’t get up north that much just a few times a year when I get a pass from my wife so it’s nice to see your videos in between my trips cheers
@@andrewkingdom Can I wish you and your family all the best for the new year and hope you have a terrific Christmas. I can only imagine the fustration of viewing the hills from afar but I suppose it raises the anticipation for when your free pass kicks in. Take care. Cheers
Excellent videography, Charlie and superb views of stunning Highland scenery! Thanks to Mike too for waiting for you to cross the Aonoch Eagach so you could film him crossing. 🏴🏔👍
Hi nickname, Really glad you enjoyed our latest outing. You just can't fail when the conditions are like that. Bloody cold but that's all part of the stunning adventure. Cheers
Just stunning! The inversion and the snow picking out the rocks, beautiful xx
Hi Patrica, Yes, just one of those days when it all cost together. Bloody cold but so much better than the clag. Cheers
I've fond memories of these two 😎
Hi Craig, They are a bonnie pair in a terrific area. Cheers
Got great and bad meories from this circiut , from deer licking out my pot at the back of the car at victoria bridge to slipping in the water at the crossing in your vid , proper face plant and so lucky there was no big boulders under the water , great vid , cheers from Brechin
Hi 45ltr, Sounds as if you had a day with everything in it 🤣 I hope you got a view from the tops for all your efforts. Cheers
Superb, Charlie. You both seem good for a few years yet. No sign of slowing up!
Keep going as long as you can so we have videos like this to watch when we can't get up the tops.
Hi Geoffrey, We've just got to keep the wheels grinding on 🤣 It doesn't get any easier but it's terrific fun when the days are like yesterday. Cheers
Superb, a fine day in the hills
Hi Barrie, Many thanks.... yes it was a cracker 👍 Cheers
Hi Charlie, Hi Mike, absolutely wonderful, what stunning views, the cloud inversion of Rannoch Moor looked amazing. Looked bitterly cold but just amazing. The patterns in the ice on the Lochan were very strange. Thanks for sharing your day with us
All the best
Dave.
Hi Dave, Yes, a cracking day but bloody freezing. Didn't see anyone in shorts yesterday which is a first for a well 🤣 Take care. Cheers
Fantastic cloud inversion. Just subscribed. Winter set in now. Best wishes out there on the next adventure.
Hello, Many thanks for the subscribtion and I hope you enjoy tagging along on our adventures. Take care. Cheers
Stunning and as usual you pair make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing your day.
Hello, Glad you enjoyed it. Days like that are certainly worth sharing 👍 Cheers
Glad to see you getting up to so many beautiful places in the UK that are well out of reach to most of us! (or if we're lucky we might be able to travel to hike up 2 of them!)
Hi Destro7000, Its great you enjoyed viewing our latest outing in the Rannch Moor area. We are certainly fortunate to stay close to many terrific areas throughout Scotland. Cheers
Wow the views are fantastic guys 👍
Hi Darren, Many thanks, glad you enjoyed viewing. Cheers
Two of my favourites esp the (other) Aonach Eagach ridge. Terrific conditions there. Atb
Hi Annie, I can totally understand how these two are a favourite, with a wee bit more snow they deliver a terrific winter experience and that's before you start looking at the views. Take care... Cheers
Stunning day Charlie. 😎
Hi Kev, Your right, just one of these early winter days that is a joy and worth the effort. Cheers
Thanks Charlie you both “lite me up “ this morning made me realise what a beautiful place we live in .
Hi Neil, I couldn't agree more, truly stunning when all the elements align to make it a bit special. Cheers
Hi guys great to see yous out on such a wonderful day ☀️ theres something about the mountains on a clear winters day ⛰️👌 Enjoyed watching this as i done these 2 for the 1st time during the summer months and have to say i really enjoyed this hike Stob Ghabar was my favourite probably because you could see Glencoe and The Buachaille ⛰️😂😂😂 seriously i really enjoyed this hike and watching your video you showed it very well well done David 👊
Hi David, Really glad you enjoyed watched our latest outing. I agree, Stob Ghabar is a cracking top and has a bit of everything about it including the fantastic views to Glen Etive and Glencoe. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
Utterly beautiful video of a stunning place. A great day for it. I think that’s one of my absolute favourites with the views over Rannoch Moor in particular. Loved this one. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes Murdo
Hi Murdo, Really glad to enjoyed yesterday's outing. The forecast was on our side and we were pretty sure the inversion was on, although there were a few hills that were reluctant to clear. All in all...... a cracking day. Cheers
Great video Charlie 👍
Hi Carol, Many thanks, glad you enjoyed viewing our latest. Cheers
Great video Charlie! I was lucky enough to do these two the day before on the 2nd Dec and also had an amazing cloud inversion. Just discovered your channel recently and have loved watching your videos! 😊
Hi cassbc, You'll know exactly the experience these gave in these conditions, totally superb. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
Spectacular. Did Beinn Challium last week in similar conditions, but with no inversion. Amazing looking at all the tops on show. Many thanks for posting, and look forward to the next one. Bye… Alistair
Hi Alistair, The west is seeing more frost than snow at the moment with the majority of the tops in similar condition to what you would have experienced last week. Blooming cold but we can put up with that when it's blue skies. Many thanks for watching. Cheers
Classic Winter conditions Charlie 🥶 stunning views all around 🏔️🏔️🏔️ strange looking effect on the wee lochan right enough 😮 I loved the wee Aonach Eagach ridge when myself and Tam did it 👌 the views from Stob Ghabhar were amazing with the inversion going on all around 🏔️😮 Superb 👌 atb Brian 👍
Hi Brian, The inversion certainly takes the stunning views up a notch. The ridge is also enjoyable especially with a good depth of snow. All in all, a great day and a long overdue visit to these two. Cheers
Awesome video with superb views, Charlie! A „tough job“ in these wintery and frosty conditions. The cloud inversion was fantastic. Cheers and take care.
Hi Wolfgang, The west coast is getting better weather but bloody cold. The clear skies are terrific although I'm running out of clothes to put on 🤣 Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 😂😂😂👍
Wow that looks like a fantastic day 😍
Need to get back up the hills , your making me jealous 😛
Hi itsablack, Days like that just make you keep going back for more 👍 Cheers
Very nice video with good weather. And you give such good explanations of which hills we see all around. Did you follow the Walkhighlands route? Your stats look similar, but it seems you walk way quicker than most people 😉 ATB Karl
Hi Karl, No, we don't use Walkhighlands for our routes but the one yesterday is typically the way these tops are walked as its generally easier climbing up out of the corrie when heading to the second Munro. The timings in WH are pretty general and are designed to cover the full range is ages and competence. We're all different, but knowing your individual timings for covering ground is something that should be overlooked. Take care. Cheers
Brilliant. Has someone been curling on that lochan.
Hi rich, I would have thought unlikely. We were thinking it was water weeping out of cracks that melted the snow lying either side? It certainly looked odd and we've never seen it before. Cheers
What a beautiful day you got Charlie & Mike above the inversion. There is more lying snow in Kilmacolm west of Glasgow than up in the central Highlands at the moment! Id climbed Stob a' Choire Odhair last Saturday. Interesting to see the waterfall and lochan now frozen a week later. ATB Derek
Hi Derek, Its certain very random for snow cover and we also had good covering in the local Lomond Hills. I'm sure it will all sort itself out over the next few months and give us a good few winter experiences. Take care... Cheers
Absolutely stunning footage! Can I ask, how do you know you’ll get an inversion of cloud when you set out to do a walk? Thanks .
Hi Jacqueline, Unfortunately, there isn't a guarantee of an inversion but we find during periods of near freezing temperatures when clear skies are forecast you'll tend to find an inversion in the glens.
It maybe only a few glens, so location is a hit or miss and it may not linger long. If you're lucky and temperatures remain low throughout the day then it might hang around quite a while. You've just got to be there with fingers crossed 👍 Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 thanks Charlie, I’ll bare that in mind 🤩👍🏻
Incredible footage Charlie , another enjoyable watch 👍.Climbed those 2 a couple of months back , very central with fantastic views in all directions , cheers
Hi Graham, Glad you enjoyed watching our latest outing. As you know, a stunning pair of hills making for an enjoyable winter day. Cheers
Wow, what a great looking day. You've been lucky with the weather up there in Scotland lately. Is this the start of another round, or are you picking ones you didn't have good views on last time? ATB Andy
Hi Andy, Yes, we've had a few good days over the last few weeks but it's bloody cold. No plans for another round we tend to chase the weather and pick a couple of tops giving a sensible day for these short winter days. Take care, Cheers
Hi guys just like to ask what base layers do you recommend value for money
Hi Darren, Nothing special for us, we tend to go for the thermal base layer that wicks well and layer up from there. On really cold days we could easily have four layers and also pack a spare base layer for an option to change through the day. Cheers
