Michael Lane Fishing
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 ต.ค. 2014
Fishing from the kayak from all over the state of Victoria. More and more an addiction to surface fishing! Along the way I have tried to capture some of the moments. Hope you enjoy.

Is this Victorian river the premier mixed fishery for freshwater enthusiasts? Come with me as I try the upper reaches in the morning, then relocate to the lower reaches in the same afternoon.

Finding some cleaner water after the downpours of early Cod season. Managed to find both yellas and Murray Cod on a fine afternoon. A wonderful water to cast lures, plenty of good timber- The Loddon River.

Melbourne Snapper: Guys, too close?!
มุมมอง 9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Melbourne snapper season is well known for people getting to close to each other when the fish are on. I personally am happy to put up with it for a few weeks of the year only. What about you? Got any stories? Positive or negative? Some may curse it, some may think it is social connection. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Very good session on the Reds at Ricketts Point. Fish were caught on lightweight outfits, whilst flicking soft plastics. Got the bag, released some, gave some to other fishos on the water. A memorable session.

Boom 💥 who doesn't love a cod boof, beautiful fish mate well done, sometimes i swear the pompadour is magic haha I've seen so many cod caught on them and the smaller ones are deadly on Bass too.
Probably the best surface lure in my opinion to lure one off the top.
What an awesome day mate, great multi species session, that rainbow was an absolute horse 🐎 Hoping to get onto a few cod this weekend from my yak, never caught a cod in the yak before. Always jealous of that local of yours such beautiful water, it's no wonder the fish look so healthy. A few cod in the one session is always great, just trying to catch up on some of your videos, I've been flat out at the moment... Keep up the awesome work mate
Thanks heaps Mick for the comment. Hope you can find your first cod in your yak
Awesome video mate🎉 gotta love the clear water!
Yeah, it's pretty cool, as you know Jake
Awesome footage, and cracking quality cod!
Thanks for the comment Wes.
Fantastic Michael! That has to be one of the most ethereal looking bit of codwater i have ever seen! The clear water would really add to the experience! The average size of the fish is very impressive.Yes the bloke in the front got a good deal!
Cheers Sandy, the clearwater sure is something pretty cool, in the context of Murray Cod fishing.
Good job ! The water looks so beautiful
Thanks Sonny, water was amazing
Nice video mate 🎣🎣
Cheers Outside, captured a great day out
Well done lads 👍🏼
Cheers for that
👍👍👏👏 Nice one Michael. What river are you fishing?

@@Michael_Lane_Fishing Thanks
Jezz your mate got a good job Michael 😅😊😅😊
Hahah you know it.
Great to guide a good mate to the spots
@@borgfishlures haha prime seat
Another good one Michael 👍 👌
Thanks Leigh

Nice video mate
Thanks Yella
Good job Michael 🔥🎣
Cheers Sonny
What line class is that rod?
Good work Mick… Yeeeeeeew!
Cheers AussieHuntter
I’m going camping there for the weekend. Trying to catch my first cod! Nice video and you’ve given me a few looks at the river! I’m excited
All the best, hope you can find your first cod.
Love the reel sound Excellent casting skills
Thanks Sharon
Nice little vid. Just a tip if you keep your luelre in the water at the kayak for a couple of seconds. There is a good chance you will pick one up at your kayak.
Yeah you are on the money with this tip. I think I have a problem with wanting to quickly get as many casts into likely areas as possible. The pause is legit.
Awesome take mick, what a beauty! 👏
Cheers Andy
Nice one Michael! Looks like you have promptly replaced that Pompdour you lost.Yes surface fishing has an addictive quality!
haha Sandy, yeah I already had a Pomp collection, so no drama
The only cod I have got off the surface is from the Loddon also. Watching this makes we want to get out there to catch another cod of the surface. Nice one 👍.
Great place for surface, heaps to cast at, low current.
Get out there Brenton 🎣
Lugar fantástico para uma pescaria...
Listening to that surface lure is like meditation
Yeah, something about it for sure
Well done mate!!!
Thanks Wayne
Great video mick! 👏
Cheers Andy
What a cool day, love it.
Thanks Rawlo, thought I would try this once a year.
Awesome stuff Michael! Some fantastic action there looks like you need a seperate outfit that is between a trout casting rod and a cod casting rod , I think you said one other time you were using 20lb braid is that a 3000 size reel? I was really surprised that Echidna kept feeding when you got close to it you must of been really quiet they normally curl up and pull their head and legs underneath the spines.Great day out well done!
Yeah Sandy, I change between the threadline and baitcaster on these days. The Echidna had his head down in what appeared to be an ant nest.
Unreal how clear the water is. what a great day out. Congratulations Mick.
Thanks, yeah it's great to fish the upper section with great clarity for the trout. Prime trout area.
How cool to be able to catch trout and natives in the one river. That was a monster trout too
Yeah it is a great river. Being able to catch both species in the same day.
Great safety video mate. Current is something not to be taken lightly. I got pointed your way by Sandy and you now have another Sub. Looking forward to following you mate.
Cheers Andrew
Crackin reddy Mick.
Cheers mate
thats a good perch ,i def would have ate it.
Yeah, we have eaten them in the past. This day we had a huge drift planned, so we didn't want to have it sitting around in the heat for hours.
If i was those ducks i would be hiding too... But i wouldn't be hiding in the water, some big angry fish in there... Always great to see trout cod, definitely not seen as often as cousin Murray, great to see you get a few of them in the one session, they just kept growing and growing it seemed, some really nice sized trouties. Very unique technique getting your lure out of the snag, you don't see that everyday either, i guess that's why it's worth not spending a fortune on a rod and worrying more about a decent reel. Still yet to get a cod off the top in the day, i tried so hard on the last trip but they seemed to really want swimbaits and spinnerbaits... Straight from trouty to Murray off the top, how good is that cod boof 💥 The call on the 70 was great as Robbie would say, the old eyeometer is tuned in... That was such a beautiful looking fish too, well to be honest so were the rest 😅 The cod after that had a cracker of a boof, it was super loud from that distance, crazy the noise that the Smaller fish can produce... I could go one forever about this awesome video but i will leave it there haha, keep them coming mate. 🎣
haha thanks for the great summary Mick
@Michael_Lane_Fishing you're welcome mate, cheers for the awesome content 👍🎣
I hope he swam straight into a meter cod hahaha Good stuff though that fiah had to be at least 40 i reckon, always hard to tell on camera, they either look tiny or gigantic 😅 Keep up the awesome work mate, I'm just about to watch the longer video you put up, unfortunately i haven't had a chance until now.
Yeah Mick, they are somewhat rare in this waterway. I suspect the cod have something to do with it.
@Michael_Lane_Fishing not the fastest swimming fish the old reddies, I'm sure they get pumped all the time...
@@bushfishncook2128 Good for something different
@@Michael_Lane_Fishing they are tasty the redfin, if I caught one that size, it would be hard not to take it for dinner... Then again you probably still had a whole day of fishing ahead of ya's
@@bushfishncook2128 Yeah, another 7 hrs ahead, so we parted ways...
Recently had one do something very similar, also followed the lure many times... Wow that's a good looking bit of water, you can see why the cod are sitting there.
Great bit of water yeah, and the cod love it there too.
Belo peixe. Porém as paisagens da Austrália são ainda mais lindas , seria bom vocês mostrar nos vídeos partes dos trajetos , mostrar um pouco das paisagens.
Nice ! Once I got one in similar water all the way to my feet and dropped it at the bank watched it swimming off threw my spinner bait back at it and it ate it a second time
Yeah, a very cool and different experience seeing them in such environments Ryan.
Mate, how big is that reddie you got mounted? looks like a 50+
Yeah it is a 50cm from Lake Toolondo (Wimmera) in it's heyday.
Very cool Mick! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
So clean and clear
Crystal Mudhole
That was bloody epic mate! He must not of likes the lure in his territory, or he was just really hungry 😂. Either one, the crystal clear water looks amazing!
Yeah that cod was ready for action, either way. Cool to see it in action in the clear stuff.
Oh yeah the Trout Cod are getting bigger! Crazy session well done, gotta love it when the system is switched on like that! good to see it's possible to get them on surface lures in the middle of the day, quite often i will let my deep diver float on the surface and twitch the rod tip a bit which makes the lure bob up and down, they will quite often take it off the surface.
haha for sure Sandy, hope the cod are getting bigger some day soon too! As you said above, midday surface eats are never out of the question.
The Hawk has a remarkable profile resemblance to the old Rublex Flopy - a sensational lure that caught all species. Good angling mate.
Cheers, yeah the 'Hawk' has a unique action for sure. A great lure indeed.
hey mate where abouts on the lodden is this?
I gotta visit your patch now 😅
Always good to venture outside of your usual grounds for adventure.
A great bag of cod there, love the hit from the trouty, epic.
Cheers Kev
Cracker session mate
What a brilliant trip! So much action both surface and diving. Some great fishing from you too. Brilliant!
Cheers Steve, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment.
