Wow the fish around the 10:00 and 15:00 marks both were absolutely giant... Sounds like there could have been a bigger one around the 20 minute mark, unfortunate it didn't come back but cray was awesome 👍 I always enjoy seeing echidnas they are such a cool creature. interesting to see, he wasn't very phased by you being there.
Yeah, got onto a few giants this day. The Echidna in the video was cool. In fact I think I saw the same Echidna on trout opening last year, on the same bank, about the same time of day...
HOLY SHIT! Some of those trout were true giants! They were huge!! Great to see the golbourn fishing well at the moment! And the trout are on the chew! I’ve always wanted to drift the golbourn on my yak… too bad we were in qld when we got it, I’ll definitely be going to the golbourn though! Keep up the amazing work! Tight lines brotha! 🇦🇺🎣🤙🇦🇺🎣🤙
Hi Michael. I had a chat to you that day when you got to the end of your drift i was wading into the water to fish the banks. Was a beautiful day for sure and caught a big rainbow just down from there.
Sick. Need to try a drift down the Goulburn. How do you orchestrate your drop off and pickup? Do you know what the river was running at that day? Doesnt look too high
On this day, I had the luxury of going with my bro who fished off the bank for 5hrs. He dropped me, I paddled down and met him 15km downstream. Alternatively you can buddy up and do the 2 car thing, one car left downstream, one up (with 2 kayaks) then ferry kayaks back to upper area end of day. The water flow will vary all the time in the Goulburn. BOM keep records of current flow in their website.
@Michael_Lane_Fishing cheers mate. Yeah tricky to do on your own. Yeah I know how to check the flow but not sure what the optimal is for kayaking. I've been there when it's going at 3500-4000ml and it's still going pretty hard
Wow awesome stuff Michael unbelievable fishing! So many fish of a lifetime in one session, 65cm is the new 35cm! There was a bit going on at one stage with 5 other kayaks in the frame as well as 3 shorebased anglers as well not to mention trucks going past in the background! You did a good subduing those mega stonkers what size leader were you using? I was waiting for that Echindna to get in the water and start swimming like in one of my videos.
Yeah, the banks of the Goulburn can be busy around opening. One reason why I like to drift a long distance, is to make sure I get into area less pressured. I use a 20lb fluro leader on day like this, cause i know some of the big rainbows pull like trucks in the current. And yes, the Echidnas are very cool. I reckon I saw this same on, on the same bank on opening last season. The fact that they can swim is cool. Would love to see that.
@Michael_Lane_Fishing yes fighting them in current would make it harder for sure, 20km is a big day usually if doing that sort of distance in a kayak cod fishing you have to just paddle over some water without fishing it to get to the other end at a reasonable hour! Maybe with a faster flowing river like the Goulburn It pushes you along a bit quicker
Why are you mishandling these fish, putting your fingers through their gills? Please desist from doing that, unless the fish has been killed ready for the pot.
Thank you for taking meg fishing You caught some dandies
Thanks for viewing and dropping a comment. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice drift!.. Great to see echidnas in your area as well. 👏👏
Cheers, the the wildlife you see on fishing adventures is cool

@@Michael_Lane_Fishing I thought you said that about the echidna, very interesting to see one in the same spot, two years in a row...

@ Yeah correct anything over about 2000k starts to get high flow in areas. For a safe bet try under 2000megs
@@Michael_Lane_Fishing thank you sir

Wow, awesome day on the river Michael, thanks for sharing. Where did you start your drift from?
Thanks Oneflyb. Drift commenced just down from Blue Gums Caravan park.
Ripper trout.
Cheers Mudbutton2
What lb line are you using could you give us a run down on your rod setup aswell ✌️
Running 15lb braid, with a 20lb fluoro leader (tied with FG knot). The rod is a Daiwa TD Black and the reel a Daiwa Aird.
@@Michael_Lane_Fishing nice 👍
