We like to feature or review all manner of sports cars, grand tourers and sporting saloons - classic and modern - not to mention supercars when we get the chance. That's when we're not busy driving or improving our own Lotus Esprit S3.
What also really draws us to a car is a good story to tell or an interesting aspect of its history.

Good on you. I love an inspired restoration with a good knowledge base. Respect.
Thank you. My knowledge base was minimal but by owning a classic it is increasing daily!! 😂
That was a Lotus 340R next to the Bentley’s! Nice video.
Ah thank you - I get confused with the open top Lotuses!
Nice video!
Thank you!
Daimler with its extra build quality and of course the turner v8
There’s no wrong choice between them. So very different in character despite looking all but identical.
Forgot to mention what happens when the vehicle is SORN'd.
Not sure what does happen putting a historic vehicle on a SORN. Means you don’t need insurance I guess and no need to “pay” the zero tax.
mite be buying 84 mode but its white is that a no no
Not a no no - might be cheaper though. To me any Ferrari not red is more interesting. And given it’s from the eighties, white is of its time!
For me, i found the QOS chase ruined by the overly quick cutting and it's too short to be truly enjoyable. The Spectre one was too dark, making the cars and scenery difficult to see and any tension in the chase was completely lost, as he made a phone call right in the middle of it. TLD is my favourite, cool car, cool gadgets and great music.
Fair points. And I can’t disagree on the Aston Martin V8 - a car so awesome the brought it back in No Time To Die.
Can you let me know which controller you purchased (220/240Iv or 12/24v) please? I bought one,12/24v from Amazon and fitted to my Outdoor Car Shield but it didn’t work? I cannot seem to find a suitable 220/240v, one that looks like the one fitted? Thanks.
sure it was this amzn.eu/d/hHdAY8E
@@SportsandGT Thank you, appreciated.
@@davidjones5245 you’re welcome
Fix the audio! You're cracking and popping.
Yes it was one of my early videos with limited equipment. Hopefully better sound these days. Thanks for watching though.
Great fun - but for me it has to be the 2CV chase in For Your Eyes Only 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, that’s a good one. If this video goes down well I’ll do a Top 5 James Bond car chases NOT in an Aston Martin!
either forwards or backwards also round corners i should imagine
🙄
Lovely car my father got a 12, his first car about '55 then a 1949 Light 15 a couple of years later. Sadly he sold it for £85 in 1960. Great car though.
An icon for sure
Harry gosh darn it you're on da wrong side a da' road and too fast 😮
😂
Congrats! A good milestone👍
Not sure what milestone it was though - 2 years being monetized perhaps.
I just bought one of those covers and I’m wondering where did you get your dimmer switch from? Thanks for your help.
Amazon - had to buy two but not expensive amzn.eu/d/hHdAY8E
keep up the good work ❤️
thanks!
Make It Happen I'll buy One 🎉
Callum Design have now made it happen!
One day i will own a 996 turbo.
Yep, a worthy ambition.
no
😂
So a waste of camera footage then.. basically
😂
Hi! Simply amazing man!!... You had a simply sensational idea!!! Thank you for solving the problem! Congratulations!
No problem
HI! Were you able to drive with your knee touching the steering wheel??.. A curiosity please, how tall are you?.. Bye!
I’m 6’6” (1.98m) with long legs. I have modified my S3 by adding a spacer behind the steering wheel which gives room for my left leg/knee to operate the clutch. I’d probably need to do the same for all Esprit variants.
@@SportsandGT I understand, I'm tall too!...Listen, please, can I ask you specifically how you managed to make exactly the changes you told me to be more comfortable?...Because I've been looking for a "Lotus Esprit Final Edition" for a few years from 2004, and I would also like to be comfortable driving. I'm waiting for you.... Thank you!
@@MarioRossi-xo6im I did a video on it but it’s an earlier Esprit - How to get a tall driver into a Lotus Esprit th-cam.com/video/ISp7_H9_tSI/w-d-xo.html
@@SportsandGT Hi! Woow! Many thanks!
@@MarioRossi-xo6im you’re welcome
My Favourite car of all time and I don't drive. But I had a fleet of them on Grand Turismo!
Haha - that’s a good way of “owning” lots of cars you can’t afford or have nowhere to store! Thanks for watching.
Why is he, like many others, driving and doing a program at the same time. Maybe it's trendy of something.
Would it be more interesting if I were sat at a desk talking about cars?
@@SportsandGT He could be showing us the cars. We don't have to look at him. If using a phone while driving is dangerous what is producing a program.
@@anthonyhickson686 he does indeed show the cars too
I see you recommended the 2006 onwards with the 3.5 v6 over the earlier 3.7 v6. Unfortunately, cat on engine choice I disagree! The 3.5 was plaqued with cam gear problems etc that could distroy an engine if not fixed - and this was very expensive. The earlier 3.7 m112 engine had none of these problems and is virtually bulletproof - one of the best MB v6 engines ever made, alongside the latter m113.
Others have also mentioned the problem - was it mostly an issue in the US? It was also solved within about a year as I checked my engine number and it was made after the fix.
well said..i always wanted one but the choice was food or a bike .money was tight..even when i see one on line i want one now...as we get older we rotate back to a child of the things we couldnt have..as in now buy one cause you deserve it ...when you look at it ..memories will make you smile and dreams do come through...❤❤ from ireland..
Very true. Although much as I’d want a Chopper for my 7 year old self, my 50+ self wants more expensive means of transport! 😂
It would be better if you weren't driving, and eliminate the background noise.
Sorry. I did shoot a version sat still but it wasn’t very lively!
I remember them back in the day, they were shit cars, as was the overheating e type. And don't send me comments, ih they were great cars, they weren't, i liked the mk10. That was class but the rest?
Thanks for the comment - all opinions welcomed! 👍🏼
It’s the early bird that catches the worm. That’s why the Esprit HC was in there. It’s a one owner car from new totally untouched never painted etc. Still wearing its original Colmore Row number plates.
Fair enough - I’ll get there even earlier in mine next time then 😂
There were quite a few cars in the paddock that were unusual, hence their reason for being there that you missed (or glossed over without realising their significance): The E39 M5 Touring, the E91 M3 Touring, the 1M S65 V8, all of which were never officially manufactured by BMW, so were built using genuine BMW M parts to make cars that their owners felt BMW should have produced. The E9 CSL - the car that is considered to have started BMW M division, the E46 M3 CSL (one of only 422 sold in the UK and one of only 297 left in the country). I do agree that it was disappointingly spread out and would have been nice to have grouped the marques together.
Fair enough - I do see more of a BMW presence at the Collecting Cars events and it's a marque I'm not especially "into" so probably didn't give it much attention. Thanks for watching and for the info on the "M" cars.
There's a large and dedicated crowd who love Porsche. I'm not one of them. The odd model is lovely but, as a rule they don't appeal. Probably too brilliantly engineered. I guess I like flaws.
Me too
Is the red Merc' Autopap's? Thanks for another video. Wish I lived a bit nearer than west Cornwall!
Yes that was Shami/Autopap in the SL. I’m with you on the Porsche thing - although it wouldn’t surprise me if at some point I got one (having had enough of the flaws)! 😂
Why front camber angle are positive? Its oposite of today's sport cars.
I believe it required less effort in steering - no power steering of course - and also compensated for poor suspension under braking (eg nose-diving).
Stag no jensen interceptor yup
Definitely - the V8 in those was over twice as big as the Stag’s!
Differently looks like a stag dude.
😂
How much in length, wheel base difference between 1 and the 3? The body gets longer, at the back of the hood??? And how much longer or the car between the two? Thanx! More: drove a series 1 for my high school’s graduation with the hottest girl with me in that car!!!! We were the talk of the whole thing!!! Beautiful car, beautiful girl!! Not necessarily in that order!
There were two different wheelbases from S1 - for the 2-seater and 2+2 which had the longer cab. The S3 was only in the longer wheelbase. Yes, beautiful cars, especially the earlier ones in my opinion.
thank you very much. I just can't help being a petrol heads can we?
😂
What year please
Jaguar produced 5 hybrid prototypes 2010-13 but the project was cancelled at the end of 2012. This is one of the 4 V8-powered cars built for the 007 film SPECTRE and it has just been made road-going by Callum Designs.
The main difference was under the bonnet as the Jag had a 3.8 liter straight six while the Daimler had a V8 However the power of the Jag could be improved if it was converted from 2 to 3 carburetors.
Correct - as indeed this Jag was
Someone at Jag wants the sack for missing this. Beautiful
Not deemed viable - yet McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 all came out around the same time. 🤷🏼♂️
Great information but the sound is terrible
Thanks, yes I shot this video a while ago with just basic equipment - hopefully things are better with my more recent films.
Great driving! Very smooth! 😂
Thanks
It's tbe stratospheric raye at whichbvalues of the 308 and Duno GT4 have risen that has made the Mondial the only affordable FerrTi, cause rvem the mialignrd 400 is nowadays is fetching u h higher figures and noonfet bought only by junkyards who kept yje V12 and scrapped rest of it
Mondial is a long way from being the most affordable Ferrari now. Thanks for watching.
This is for sale with an X50 package. Tempting!
Yes - belongs to a friend. Would be a great buy.
Reception of the 348 at launch was actually very good. The ‘poor reception’ everyone is echoing nowadays is down to a few reviews pointing out erratic behavior of the car at the limit (soon addressed in subsequent model years) and more importantly, new Ferrari CEO Di Montezemolo actively trying to destroy the 348’s reputation in favor of his new baby, the F355 - a pretty dick move, quite unprecedented in automotive history.
Interesting to hear - thank you.
Excellent video and I really enjoy how you can name 95% of all the cars. And the Maserati Sebring was very nice in Red.
Thank you - I'm pretty amazed at my otherwise useless knowledge sometimes too! Sebring or Lagonda would be my pick - or why not both!! 😎
Good lnfo about both cars time 5.30 in the evening thankyou
Thanks for watching
It was a great day out, I didn't realise I was taking photos of your car as you drove away. I wonder what it would look like without the 911s, lots of space :)
Are you on Twitter/X to share the photos you took? @sportsandgt - would be interesting to see a 911-free Scramble but to be fair, they are good cars - if a little ubiquitous!
@@SportsandGT Just posted a couple.
@@jonfesmith7993 thanks
the m112 245ps engine is bomb-proof if properly mantained, AND easy to work on for a do-it-yourselfer, while the M272 used on '06 facelift is much more finiky and trouble-prone. M112-113 are rated among the best 5 mercedes engine family ever.
yes I understand there have been problems with the M272 prior to around 2007 - luckily for me mine was a later build not affected by the issue
What an absolute ruckus!! A whole orchestra of gurgles and roars 🤩
Wasn’t it. The recording doesn’t really do it justice, it was deafening and visceral in reality. Thanks for commenting.
