Just to clarify - it seems you have to wait until 1 April 2024 to apply if your car was built 8 January 1983 to 31 December 1983. It wouldn't let the post office process it - even if it was forward dated to 1 April. *** TOP TIP - to avoid losing one month's exemption refund of pre-paid tax - SORN the car by Fri 29 March, keep it off the road over the Easter weekend and then apply for historic tax class on Tue 2 Apr. ***
Useful video. Thanks. I got my V5 back yesterday after changing my 1978 S2 Esprit class to 'Historic Vehicle'. Took about six weeks, as you said. I only bought the car last year, so I had to send off the V5 to change the registered keeper, & then again to change the tax class. Couldn't do both in one transaction because DVLA!
I have a BMW motorcycle registered 1st August 1984, but i have the bulid paperwork from the BMW historic department showing the build date as 5th April 1983, just been to the post office and they said thier system was showing the motorcycle as not eligible and there wasn't an option on build date, any idea how i can resolve this, thanks, good video.
It may have become a bit more Lively...if while driving a 'Supercar' (of the day) on the open road, your attention was distracted whilst narrating on a YT Vid.... But that would never happen of course... 🤔🤥

Cheers. Given that you can re-register online when buying and selling, I don’t know why this can’t be done the same way.
I have a 1985 Esprit S3, so this was very useful.
A couple of years to wait then!

@@stuartkidd3624 thank you - I think to go off build date you may have to contact DVLA and send the paperwork evidence.
Forgot to mention what happens when the vehicle is SORN'd.
Not sure what does happen putting a historic vehicle on a SORN. Means you don’t need insurance I guess and no need to “pay” the zero tax.
It would be better if you weren't driving, and eliminate the background noise.
Sorry. I did shoot a version sat still but it wasn’t very lively!
