Mega Tyco “Little Trains” Era Haul Unboxing and Overview
Very Well Done!. I have an atlantic, but it is a Tyco variation of this.
A pencil eraser works great for polishing the commutator. Have you found a good replacement for the brushes and or brush springs? The brushes are usually pretty good, just dirty, but the springs can get cooked and other be deformed or broken. I haven't found a good replacement source.
I bought that same locomotive last fall and this is the first time I've seen it elsewhere
😊the tender drive version was the last version built of the 0-8-0. There were two other versions a veticle motor mount in the engine and a horizontal motor mount with a geared down motor in the engine. None were great runners as far as slow speed running but always looked the part of a really powerful loco
B&O would be nice, if adding decals. I'd like to see you add a headlight and show a video doing that. Nice loco!
This locomotive was produced by Liliput from Vienna Austria in 1971, based on the ubiquitous Prussian P8 / BR38 . There was an earlier version which was simply a P8 with Pennsylvania lettering. From the video I understand that one of yours is damaged and suffers from zink rot like many Liliput models of this era.
🙄👍
👍
I bought one of those 2 years ago at a train show. Paid $10 out of the junk bin. Just needed some solder. has the Lindsay super motor. Runs great, and somone put a good ammount of effort and detail on it.
Does this run on DC or AC?
@@davidandrew477 it’s controlled with AC.
It is rare to find one that runs well due to the poor made axles and gears cracking and breaking.
Hey Dan, do you happen to have a link to your april fools video where you had the SMT intro? I just remembered it and I can't find it.
Bro said built ford tough
Dan this looks like an inbred crossbreed of a PRR B6, C1, and B28. I hate and love it. Also aristocraft…. _sigh_ time to add another obscure model company to the list to horde over
I got an F9 and the same little loco. Been in a box for 50 years. Need to pull them out and freshen them up
it’s like an exact model of buffalo creek and gauley 14
He’s right😂😂😂😂
That’s insane! Museum quality for sure 😂
I'm curious as to what it cost
I'm suprised that the front guide wheels have enough room to move around curves.
I had heard of these but never seen them. Thanks
What a trip!!! ..... This video was made 3 years ago, I bought the Burlington SD24 #502 yesterday on Ebay for $25 ..... This video just showed up on my feed today 😳
I think the Misfits should cover this song your playing during the video .... Reminds me of The Love Boat from the 70's 🤣
I just came across this video ..... Subscribed!!! 👍
Really true
Good cars and engine I don’t see a lot of Amtrak runs
7:44 i believe that sharknose is based on the EJ&E sharknose but the real prototype has green instead of black and the colors are swapped
do you still have discord
3:24 you tell us to pick it up but you put it down lol
I just came across your video .... Subscribed!!! 👍
I have a mint one
5:44 "Dan hot tub-" NOOOOOOOOOOOo made me choke on my carrot
It looks like the 5741!
Super collection. I only bought one Bicentennial locomotive, a Tyco EMD F-7A, which still operates on my railroad after almost fifty years. It has an Aussie version of the Mantua MU-2 truck drive which is quite different in that it has screws, not rivets, holding it together and runs quite well, inside or outside. The seal is mostly flaked off, but it still looks classy hauling the express passenger train, and MUs well with my more modern locomotives. Wonder what they will make for our Bi and a half centennial in 2026? Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
878 and 862 still are running on BLE grounds.
I’d love to see a video of all your 2-8-0’s all together. I always play your videos in the background when I’m detailing my engines!
I love the inclusion of that version of the song, gives me nostalgia for I Love Toy Trains. The song goes great with the wonderful video!
That's a very nice haul you have, You are very lucky to have a nice collection like that.
Hello Dan I just got a rare 1982 Soo line GP20 one of only 3 made I have a photo of it on my community tab this is my 3rd prototype as it joins my BN and ACL
I’m not super sure on that, I had a glance and there no supporting evidence whatsoever of it being 1 of 3.
@@dirtydanstrains1414 according to the person I acquired it from it’s from the 1982 catalog, he was an employee who helped test test and design some of the paint schemes the 780 is his personal mark for the ones he made designs for with 3 units (Soo,ACL and AMT) getting this mark before entering production however the ACL unit was canceled due to a unknown issue and the Soo unit was canceled for issues with the red plastic I just posted more photos of it and it’s catalogue listing
@@JustATeenageRailfan while that is an intriguing story and the engine does look interesting no doubt, I still have my suspicions about the legitimacy of this employees claims. Shoot me an email at danielhauck67@gmail.com and I can help you look into it a bit further and get some hard evidence.
@@dirtydanstrains1414 will do
Ok I send a email with some more info and photos tell me if you find anything else
Great choice of background music
Great video however you should never use Vaseline. Vaseline is petroleum-based, and petroleum-based products can eat the plastic
Very difficult to assemble even when it was new. I’ve had 2 of them. Extremely complicated build. You’ve got to run a lot of thread. Bucket can be switched out for a junkyard magnet. Good luck. You’ll need it.
Great find. Now that you have the tender drives, what are you focusing on in Tyco?
Probably going to try and get all the shark noses now.
The original Mantua/Tyco RF-16 Sharknose was an all metal locomotive with an incredible MU-1 drive unit. A very nice locomotive for its time. 💙 T.E.N.
I used to have a Tyco Santa Fe ALCo c630 and Western Maryland 2-8-2. They were my second and third model locomotives respectively, and they were the first large locomotives to run on my current layout. The 2-8-2 sadly didn’t run for long, and I sold it shortly after I got a smaller and more reliable Bachmann 2-8-2. The Bachmann 2-8-2 (a model of Southern Railway 2-8-2 number 4501) still runs to this day. I’m working on getting dcc and sound into it, as well as several cosmetic modifications to make it appear more like the prototype. The c630 is still a part of my collection, although I will be selling it this summer.
Nice video... but it would have been nice to have seen it drop more than one box and to see you load the boxes into the car
Congratulations in advance, Daniel, on your High School graduation. Nice to see you have completed your collection of TYCO tender drives with the elusive Uncle Pete. I'm sure you'll do well in your new job. Thanks for sharing. 👍🐾👍
Dan, great video, and the end encouraged me to take some time to comment. I was buying the trains you're collecting when they were first coming out. Tyco was an under-appreciated name in the market. They introduced a lot of the kids at that time. Their running quality compared to others at the time wasn't the best. There were still leftover pieces from the Mantua era that were excellent, and could be super detailed to bring them up to a whole different level to compete with others such as Bowser, MDC/Roundhouse, and even Brass. The kits allowed people to have the experience of building their own train, then run it, with only needing a few simple tools. In life you'll have times where your trains will take a back seat to everything else going on in life. During those times, if you can, put some plastic over your layout to preserve it, and your scenery. Then when the mood, and time comes available, you can uncover it, and have less cleaning up time to get trains running. I've unfortunately had part of my collection stolen from me twice in my life losing some irreplaceable pieces. That led me to try other scales, only later in life returning to HO and acquiring copies of things I had through my youth, a lot which were gifts through the years, allowing all those memories to come back. Trains were always there through good times, and were comforting through rough times. You'll always have periods of time where life and times get in the way of hobby time, as long as you still have the passion for trains, you'll get back to it when you're ready. Your content is great, and you have a great personality for making videos, so keep doing you, and I'll look forward to when you bring out new content.
Congratulations on graduating and your plans to be a mechanic. This video was nice to see because of your passion to complete your collection paid off. Who would have thought a Union Pacific engine would be that rare. Take care.
I don't know if my memory is biased by this video, but I have seen this UP locomotive at train shows back in the 1980's and 1990's. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I may have had one in the UP paint scheme if my memory is correct (Also, my memory could be wrong). This time frame would have been during my childhood and teenage years (1980s to 1990s). As far as this locomotive being rare, my theory is that they were more common during the 1970s to the 1990s, but like many of these Tyco locomotives, many were lost due to damage and were thrown away. This is the reason that many Tyco locomotives are much harder to find, today. Back in the 1980s to 1990s, Tyco items were a lot easier to find, and dealers had a much harder time in selling these items. At times, the dealers had to almost give away these items just to get rid of them.
We don't talk about the #BuySellTrade incident of 2024
