Railway187 UK & Soviet model trains
Belgium
I am trying to create a very small H0 layout: it was initially about 3x5 ft (95 x 148 cm). When I started it in 2020, it was also made to be removable since I was using it on my dining table. Later I moved it to the loft and it is now 3,5 x 6 ft (105 x 185 cm).
The theme of the initial layout was an early post soviet union village in the nineties, called Petrushino. In November 2022 I reconfigured the layout and it now contains two villages, a soviet village “Petrushino” and an early post-soviet village “Kuzhenkino”, still on the same surface of 105x185 cm.
Recently I have a new layout based on Noch Birkenfeld and measuring only 140 x 100 cm, truly a very small layout. And it can get smaller: my UK layout is only 85x95 cm.
PS: I am not Russian and not English, I understand both languages but some mistakes might occur in the English and Russian texts on this channel. I am sorry for that.

This is the last video of 2024 and also the last video of Petrushino 3. The base plate of this layout has been sold and I hope it will enjoy the new owner as much or even more as it enjoyed me. I hope to start my new layout soon in 2025. 🙂 Happy Newyear!

This is a new video of my old layout. I had a few unedited recordings and I found now time to edit them and upload them on the channel. This layout doesn't exist anymore, but it was reused as the basis of my current layout.

Hi Erik, I have the same loco in BR livery. The weight was missing in mine, so i added some lead. Lima weights are renowned for Mazak rot. Great video. All the best. Carl.
How deformed is the original weight? Maybe you could file it down. I've never handled one of these locomotives, but maybe the original ballast is designed to concentrate its weight on the pickup wheels. You could apply a little technical petroleum jelly on the pick ups.
There was active pest on the weight and it already left some traces on the plastic. I threw it away and replaced it by led-free weight. I managed to get the same amount of weight and it is situated at te front and middle of the locomotive, so it sit above the axles that have the pickups. Are you sure the pest problem doesn't come back when you file it away?
@railway187 the pest continues acting even after filing. If the weight was warping badly you did the right thing.
@railway187 I read that the cracking caused by the pest can be stopped by applying bi-component epoxy resin to the part heated at a temperature of 60-70 degrees centigrade. This method could be useful on structural elements such as a locomotive chassis, but if lead-free tyre weights obtain the same weight, you've eliminated the problem at the root.
Hi Erik , tolle Lok , schönes Video , die Probleme der Lok , hast du gut gelöst 👍👍 . Gruß Daniel 🙋♂🙋♂.
Weird to see it with the smaller tension lock couplings! Is it 1/76? I agree, on new rails it will surely run a little smoother. Looks great regardless
@@robstovrailway Indeed it came with these small European couplers, which seems strange since it is definitely OO-scale. On the other hand: Lima used the same plugin system for both types of couplers, so they probably had two versions of their rolling stock, depending from which country they were sending them to. Thanks for watching!
Hi Erik, Happy New Year to you. Your Lima 94XX looks in very good condition, the body and decals are unmarked. Shame your weight had issues but you managed to replace it very nicely. Check the back to back dimensions on all 3 axles, Lima tend to have some that are too wide. My Lima Steamers are the same height as 00 gauge Locos its just one of those things. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏
Hi, the Lima is OO scale not HO scale - while roughly scaled at 4mm to the foot, British outline is oversized for the track, or narrower gauge than scale which is why some modellers re-gauge locos and build scale track to EM or P4 gauge... OO is 16.5mm, EM 18mm-18.02mm and P4 18.83mm - HO is 3.5mm to the foot so vehicles and locos are smaller, but HO track and OO track is the same width!! Hope that explains it for you!
clean the motor and dissasemble the gears inside, which in many lima models are loose , i would also check if in the same corner which it stops the wheels loose contact with the rails. At 3.46 when you touch the loco shakes it seems that it isnt perpendicular with the tracks...
das ist halt nur geil
Hey, In a nutshell Great!👍 Greetings from Seven🖖
Super video, thumps up. 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️😀👍👍👍
great share on channel keep up the great vlog you do and share nice loco
Interesting steam loco Erik. nicely shot.👍
Super 👍
Fantastic 👍
Hi dear Erik,beautiful loco and layout,big like.Cheers Alberto 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Those Lima wheels, being made of brass are notorious for accumulating dirt. If you clean them with a cotton bud dipped in a suitable fluid and oil the central spindle either side of the commutator, I think that it will improve.
Hello. KLASSE lakomotiv 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, Thanks....... Fim🚂👮🏻🤚🏻

@@crenimrt268 Thank you!
This is really nice, reminds me that I need to just simplify and run trains!
Nice update Erik !!👍
That's a great solution! In a previous video you mentioned the ballast mat wasn't any good, what problems does it cause?
I bought Faller. It was brown paper with ballasting material glued onto it. The problem was that the material was not well glued and constantly falling off the paper, even leaving gaps where the paper was visible. I threw it away. I have ordered very large grain black sanding paper. It comes from China, so it will take a bit of time to arrive.
Interesting comparison of loading guages when you put the British Mk 1 coach and Soviet coach together. Who made that particular Soviet coach? I would like to find a coach to true Russian/Soviet loading guage, not RIC/UIC coaches that crossed into the rest of Europe.
@@jonathanblakeborough6151 The soviet coach is made by Heris.
Many thanks
You've given me an idea on how to make the tall British platforms on my small layout for its 00 guise. 👍👍👍
Hello, Great vlog, was interesting again, I liked it,have a nice day!🍀 Greetings from Seven🖖
Very nice and interesting video 👍👍👍
@@crenimrt268 Good idea! I see you on the next update then. This will however not come before next weekend, I presume, as my holidays have finished and I have to go to work now. Thanks for watching!
The interchangable building idea is class. Not only UK to Russian, but anything to anything can be swapped.
@@ArcadiaJunctionHobbies @ArcadiaJunctionHobbies It gives a lot of possibilities indeed. By the way, it seems Amazon has a few Umbum buildings available again. Thanks for watching!
The highlight of this video is the care and precision with which you thought of transforming an English village into a Russian village. Even though I am old I must say that there is always a lot to learn. Well done, a smart move. Alberto 📽📽🚂🚂📹📹👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍
Using an n gauge building at the back really works well!
@@robstovrailway There will be another one at the other side. First I need to make hill. It's a pity Umbum dienst make much N-gauge. Thanks for watching !
great vblog
Super video from your nice layout. 🙋🏻♂️😀😀👍👍
brilliant work ! I really enjoy seeing model rails evolve, your models are fantastic and the running is really good for such a small scale.
Hoi Erik, perfect werk. De achtergrond ziet er geweldig uit. Ik hou van de oude Lima locomotieven. Vriendelijke groeten Andreas
Very impressive what you were able to do with the available space!

Hy dear Erik, your layout grows quickly and really nice i am awaiting for the further steps have a nice sunday cheers alberto 🚂🚂🚂🚂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
very nice...with a lot of things to do...if i understand correct...this layout is only possibly with flexi tracks right? It would be interesting to see some lights on the layout although i think it needs alot of wiring...
@@simonnomis5302 I used flexitrack as straight track, just because it's cheaper than buying different lengths of straight track. The curve rails are ready available track, not flexitrack. So this layout can be made with flexitrack, but it may be slightly more expensive. Thanks for watching! Ps: there will be lights later, after the more structurele work
Erik, good progress 👍😀
Witam super 👍pozdrawiam
Gteat progress for only 2 days 👍 If you run your trains in opposite directions it looks more like a busy country line? Have fun. Happy modelling
Very nice!
