    Hi Erik, I have the same loco in BR livery. The weight was missing in mine, so i added some lead. Lima weights are renowned for Mazak rot. Great video. All the best. Carl.

    Hi Erik, Happy New Year to you. Your Lima 94XX looks in very good condition, the body and decals are unmarked. Shame your weight had issues but you managed to replace it very nicely. Check the back to back dimensions on all 3 axles, Lima tend to have some that are too wide. My Lima Steamers are the same height as 00 gauge Locos its just one of those things. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

    Those Lima wheels, being made of brass are notorious for accumulating dirt. If you clean them with a cotton bud dipped in a suitable fluid and oil the central spindle either side of the commutator, I think that it will improve.

    Hi, the Lima is OO scale not HO scale - while roughly scaled at 4mm to the foot, British outline is oversized for the track, or narrower gauge than scale which is why some modellers re-gauge locos and build scale track to EM or P4 gauge... OO is 16.5mm, EM 18mm-18.02mm and P4 18.83mm - HO is 3.5mm to the foot so vehicles and locos are smaller, but HO track and OO track is the same width!! Hope that explains it for you!

    clean the motor and dissasemble the gears inside, which in many lima models are loose , i would also check if in the same corner which it stops the wheels loose contact with the rails.At 3.46 when you touch the loco shakes it seems that it isnt perpendicular with the tracks...

    Weird to see it with the smaller tension lock couplings! Is it 1/76? I agree, on new rails it will surely run a little smoother. Looks great regardless

      @@robstovrailway Indeed it came with these small European couplers, which seems strange since it is definitely OO-scale. On the other hand: Lima used the same plugin system for both types of couplers, so they probably had two versions of their rolling stock, depending from which country they were sending them to. Thanks for watching!

    How deformed is the original weight? Maybe you could file it down. I've never handled one of these locomotives, but maybe the original ballast is designed to concentrate its weight on the pickup wheels. You could apply a little technical petroleum jelly on the pick ups.

      There was active pest on the weight and it already left some traces on the plastic. I threw it away and replaced it by led-free weight. I managed to get the same amount of weight and it is situated at te front and middle of the locomotive, so it sit above the axles that have the pickups. Are you sure the pest problem doesn't come back when you file it away?

    • @patricksmodels
      @patricksmodels วันที่ผ่านมา

      @railway187 the pest continues acting even after filing. If the weight was warping badly you did the right thing.

      @railway187 I read that the cracking caused by the pest can be stopped by applying bi-component epoxy resin to the part heated at a temperature of 60-70 degrees centigrade. This method could be useful on structural elements such as a locomotive chassis, but if lead-free tyre weights obtain the same weight, you've eliminated the problem at the root.
