The '80 '81 season was an iconic time for me personally. I got my driver license, Governor Reagan was elected POTUS🇺🇲🫡, The Raiders won the Super Bowl, AND the hostages came 🇺🇲HOME🇺🇸...🎶🎼🎉🎵🎶🇺🇲CELEBRATION...🎉🥳🇺🇸 🎼🎵🎶
!!pure old school RB's !!the best football
Bad move to trade Hendricks.
Dad was in the USAF and we were stationed in England from 69-72. I was homesick for West Texas, and decided to follow the Cowboys in '71. We didn't get the scores for the Sunday games until the Monday morning Stars N Stripes newspaper was delivered. I saved all Cowboys related clippings and avidly followed the Staubach-Morton rivalry, and the Duane Thomas drama. Only got to see the Cowboys in action in weeks-old NFL films in PE class every Friday. I had to listen to the '72 Super Bowl on Armed Forces Radio Network, and it was thrilling. About a month later, English television carried highlights of the game. It was a magical era.
Thank you so very much PAL 6363 for uploading the unedited version of this.
Bring back marching bands to the Super Bowl
When I was a kid in Dallas back in 1971 my mom got a very nice set of Dallas Cowboy Super Bowl Champion drinking glasses for free at the FINA gas station after so many fill ups in her green Volkswagen Bug. A few years ago we were talking about those drinking glasses and I said, “Wouldn’t it be something if we still had that set of glasses?” “I bet they would be worth something.” My mom said, “Let me show you something.” She walked over to her dining room cabinet and opened one of the doors and there they were. Still in mint condition. These things are so nice. Not like the cheap crap they make today. They are short glasses like you would have a glass of whiskey on the rocks in. They are thick and heavy and look like they are made of crystal with a smoked emblem of a Dallas Cowboy helmet on them. You would never get something like these for free today, much less at a gas station. This was back when the guy at the service station came out to the car and pumped the gas for you, cleaned your windshield, checked the oil, checked the tires, and gave us kids bubble gum.
I've been watching football for over 50 years and Riggins was always one of my favorite RBs. When he got to the endzone, he acted as though he'd been there before. I like that.
That's how you run a football wow😮
This is crazy how now most players get more protection but are more often injured.
I hope the Bills win a Super Bowl after the Lions! Great franchises need that ring😀🤘
This was the game leading up to the biggest fix in NFL history.....N.Y.JETS 16. COLTS 7😢....BUT it made football what it is today....🙂...it was a 4 year deal in the works.... The American League at the time could not compete with the national League.... Then the next year the Vikings a 15-point favorite lay down to the Kansas City Chiefs!...... The national football League was so much better than the American football League..... So the balance things out, they move the Cleveland browns the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore colts took them out of the national league and put them in the American League the bounce things out...... The brains behind the operation was Lamar Hunt....... He deserves credit for what the NFL is today..... But they cannot tell people that the game was fixed..... It would hurt the integrity of the game...... But in this instance it worked the opposite way, it made football what it is today..... I know a lot of people don't believe this, that the colts through the game against the Jets in super bowl 3.... There was one play that indicated this in the game..... That year Earl morrall was the most valuable player...... And with less than 1 minute to go till halftime they were at the jet 40 yard line and Don Shula called a timeout...... And they called the play that they only use one time in the regular season and it went for a touchdown...... Earl Moore was going to hand it off to Tom Maddie who was going to throw it back to Earl Moore and he was going to throw a pass down the field to Jimmy orr...... That was the play called in by Don Shula..... But there was one problem with the play...... Earl morral never threw the ball to Jimmy orr, who was wide open in the end zone the Jets forgot to cover him...... And then the rest is history.....I'm 82 years old.....I've had this information for years from the higher-ups..... It's a funny thing Pete Rose is Band from the Hall of Fame for gambling..... But Paul hornung Green Bay star running back was suspended one year for gambling on football..... but yet is in Canton Ohio hall of Fame.... Could somebody explain this to me
The Redskins teams in that era were filled with characters, Dexter Manley, Riggins, Theismann, hogs, fun bunch, smurfs, hogettes. Mark Moseley, the field goal kicker, was league MVP in 1982.

I remember as a kid watching the freezer bowl game in January of 1981 when the Chargers went to Cincinnati. That game if I am right was the coldest in NFL history, I sat in front of my television and I even felt cold watching that game, that's one game I'll never forget. Even though Fouts and company lost to the Anderson led Bengals it was still an awesome season flying on Air Coryell
Man inaccurate how many games what a JOKE EDITING EDITING this is your life plunkett
Best rb performance in a Super Bowl. Won the game with the Hogs.
Thanks for uploading -- I use to watch every week-- Great Show..
I was 16 years old and just able to drive. Went to Memorial Stadium to see what kind of tickets I could get, Wednesday before. I got second row where the left field pole is for baseball and on the 20 yard line. 😊 We had a very well dressed black couple sitting next to us. The man was into the game but his wife said nothing. After a Oakland scored a touchdown my friend and the man went to the concession stand. Well, as we all the Colts returned a kickoff for a touchdown. He ran right by us. She grabbed me and started jumping up and down and I responed likewise. Her husband came back and she resumed her position, but from time to time she would look over and smile. 😊 I'm still not over the loss but that moment was precious.😊
One of my favorite players of all time!
As a Cherokee kid back in John Riggins's playing days, we lived near DC, and also Baltimore. My Pop was a huge Colts fan and a very straight-laced guy. Johnny Unitas was Pop's guy, John Riggins was definitely not his guy though. Which ought to tell you that Riggo was my kind of guy completely. I thought he was a monster, with the power and speed of Jim Brown and the attitude of Peter Fonda. I thought Easy Rider was a great movie and had a poster from the movie on the wall of my bedroom with either Fonda or Dennis Hopper flipping the bird. I bought my first motorcycle when I was 10 and I've always had a bike since then, heck, I'm 65 and still have a bike, LMBO! John Riggins was like a biker who was a pro football player, my kind of guy! Pop and I had a football argument that started when I bet him that Namath and the Jets would beat his Colts, and I won that bet of course. From that moment on, Pop and I had trouble agreeing on anything football related. Ha ha ha ... I'm still a fan of John Riggins. Talent plus motivation equals success is the Riggins equation, as far as I can tell. Go, John Riggins!
Heartbreaking 4 straight sorry
He was an outstanding talent, and a pompous ass!
Everytime I watch football highlights I always think man these guys are poor tacklers compared to rugby.
What a monument! Riggins... the diesel. HE CAME TO PLAY. Mic drop...
I love that, "I came to play." If one could watch life from above and look at the BIGGER picture. That's what life is all about. It's nice to learn some lessons on the way, buts it's about the game we came to play. Not about religion and the God we pray to. We came unto this life to play its game, the game of life, and play that game the best way possible one sees fit. But play It!
I remember that game. I was 16 years old. I thought who is this guy.! I watched a man’s determination !!!
He graced another field .. Oil fields....rough neck
San Francisco painted "Browns" and the Browns mascot in one of their endzones???
@32:08 holy shit!!!
John Riggins was one tough son of a gun. Loved him not my team but just too good at what he did to other teams.
Man i miss Wayne Chrebet. He always managed to make everything he did look spectacular, and he was so damn clutch. Such a fun WR to watch.
It's shocking to see someone wearing #58 for the Steelers playing terribly.
As a Cowboys fan I always hated Riggins and the Redskins, but he was one tough sob
Someone has got to make a movie of John Riggins
Centralia Kansas boy. Small town boy with great talent who was always the best athlete on the field, court or track.
I think about the pains in my elbow and my heel and people tell me how do I manage the pain then I think of guys like Namath and Mantle and what they went through to play their sports and think its nt so bad for me. As for SB 3 and the FIX enough about that and think that Weeb knew the Colts D well enough and told his boys and Namath you can beat them if you stick to the game plan and they did and it worked and the Jets shocked the world
Jack Whitaker Ray Scott Pat Summeral Tom Brookshier and Harry Kalas were all great amazing incredible and unbelievable voices of NFL 📽️🎥 films , but the one 🕐🕜 and only definitive voice of NFL films then now and forever ♾️ was the late great " John Facenda " !
the guy I loved to hate! Great player!
I knew him and weebcoach always brought the best out of every player
Camp at Dickinson. if you know...
RIGGO!!!!!
The Bills could not beat the NFC East in the superbowl if only they could have played the Eagles lol
@ 1:56 👍
John Reagan's, it's always been my hero, my brother's hero in my mind. Mother's hero, God rest your soul. Even though I live between Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis of all places that riggy baby was the man he is the goat. God bless you, John Riggins, and God bless your family from Indiana. The morgans
Diesel....what a player. Miss guys like him.
