Yes I do recommend it. The location is very convenient as it’s a short 5-min walk from the Phayathai station. And Phayathai is very central (2 stations from Siam, 3 stations to Ari, and one train ride to Suvarnabhumi airport). The cost of stay is very reasonable compared to other brand hotels, and the service is great.

Both are beautiful, and “old skool“, too. I hope you have a chance to visit Bangkok and stay at this property soon!

@@TravelCoffeeAndy I will be travelling to Bangkok for Christmas but me and my friends are staying at another condo in Huai Khwang. Not my choice but it is what it is. I'll be in Thailand, so I'll be happy. Keep doing your thing bro.

@forcesensitive6371 If you are travelling with your friends, renting a condo will be a better choice. I guess you will be close to Makkasan station, which will also be convenient for you. I live right by Phayathai station which is super convenient also. Thanks for the support and kind words!

@user-lt7wc4pf7q it all depends on their availability. Titanium status does not guarantee a suite upgrade. The eligible elite members do receive a nightly upgrade reward, which could be used for that.

I know that however they have bunch rooms but not take their loyal customers as priority for the suite upgrade which is hilarious 😆 as a platinum member I always got upgraded in Thailand !!! U should fight for ur status right ur titanium 😅

@user-lt7wc4pf7q my personal opinion, is that an upgrade is not a “right“, just because you are an elite member. I am always grateful when I do get an upgrade of some sort, and have never demanded a suite upgrade due to my status. Of course, during the pandemic, I used to get upgraded to a suite quite often, just because they didn’t have many guests due to the lockdown.

@fiatv6827 I personally think it’s worth it, especially if you’re suite night award is expiring at the end of this December and you don’t have other plans. However, it seems like a very popular property, and there are only 55 rooms and suites. I don’t know how many suites they have, but I assume many elite members think the same. If you happen to get upgraded to one, let me know, and I want to see some photos! 😊

I think every hotel caters to different needs, and this one is definitely not the “luxury” hotel that you compare to. This particular room is meant for long-term stays, and if I had to stay at a hotel for 2 weeks, I’d appreciate having a microwave and a bigger fridge. 😊

@@TravelCoffeeAndyWell, kets see what Gordon Ramsey says about MW ovens, just to mention one. Theres nothing to use an MW for, then theres no excuse to have one, ever. Pastry in MW = destroyed, Meat in MW = destroyed, Fish in MW = dont even think about it. When are you using the thing, when is it acceptable, what kind of food can possibly benefit from an MW? Im a great admirer of the Japanese cooking by temperature control, thats why i strived to improve my skills on the gas stove when i stayed in Philippines for a total of 2 decades. If you get edible food out of an MW, dont tell me - tell any Japanese chef. This isnt just my opinion but the opinion of lots of famous chefs, tell them why MW is great. Me, i only need to put a cup of coffee in the MW and the burnt taste tells me its not good for anything at all. Famous chefs backing my stance and in full agreement with me is only an affirmation.

I'm going to answer your question, assuming you will be either taking the train system to/from the airport, or taking the BTS frequently during your stay! Location: The Westin is just next to the Asok BTS station. It's better to stay on the station level (the same floor where you get out of the ticket gate) and continue the corridor towards the Westin (on the right) and the Sheraton to your left. The ground level streets have a lot of steps and the drivers are not pedestrian-friendly, like in N. America or Europe. The walk itself is like 2 mins and very close. However, the only challenge I see, is there are only stairs leading to the hotel from that corridor. It's only one flight of stairs, but if you have to hold onto your young one, and bags, it may be a challenge. You can always try to go through Robinson's, which is a department store next to the hotel, and there is a direct connection to Robinson's from the station corridor. The Marriott Marquis is at Phrom Phong BTS station, which is the next stop from Asok. The hotel is about 900m from the station, if you take the longest route. Depending on the day and time, you can cut through the Benchasiri Park, which should halve the walking time. I believe the hotel does offer shuttle service to/from one of the malls nearby (not sure if it's the Emporium or EmQuartier side) I don't know where you are from and whether you are used to walking in the hot weather, but on a sunny day, walking long distance can be a challenge, even if it's 3-400m. Especially with luggage and/or young ones. Both hotels are elegant in different ways: Westin has a more simple yet elegant, up-to-date feel. The Marquis has a grand presence, especially the entrance and lobby areas. Both provide excellent customer service and the hotels are very clean. I don't remember if I had a chance to check out the Westin's lounge (I think the lounge was closed due to the pandemic), but I was very impressed with the M Club lounge at the Marquis. Huge area, with both indoor and outdoor space. Lots of snacks and beverage choices, as well as a good selection of evening appetizers. Also, the Marquis breakfast at their restaurant downstairs, was amazing! HUGE variety of dishes to choose from, and for a foodie guy like me, that was heavenly. I wasn't a big fan of either pools, as they were both on the smaller side. The pool itself may be large, but with such a large-scale hotel, it can get quite crowded with guests. I'd say that the Westin has a more "younger" vibe; they do hold events like the "Pool Party" and attract younger crowds. At my age (55), I prefer the Marquis, for the ambiance, food, and lounge. It's one hotel that I'd like to go back and "staycation" again someday soon. On a side note, if you decide to take a cab to get around town: 1. Install the "Grab" app on your phone. It's the Thai-version of "Uber" . Better in terms of language barriers, and fair consistent prices. 2. If you do flag down one on the street, make sure they put the meter down before you start the journey. 3. Avoid rush hour; both hotels are located on Sukhumvit Road and both areas are always very congested. Sorry for the long reply; hope this helps!!

I got it now. I didn't bring it here for two reasons. 1. I already had 4 suitcases to bring, which was my max amount. 2. My friends in Thailand warned me against riding a bicycle in Bangkok, due to the poor road conditions and heavy traffic.

I love both. If you want an impactful entrance and lobby, the Marriott is the way to go. But if you prefer a smaller-scale and quieter hotel, I’d choose the Conrad. Also, I think it depends on which loyalty program you have, and what level of elite membership you have with them.
