    This happened to a friend who was a phenomenal crafter and singer. Whilst her singing voice never returned she turned out the most intricate embroideries, beadwork, paintings, did gardening, decorating… in fact it just did not stop her. Her commitment was total and her quality of work was not diminished. What she accomplished with one hand put us to shame. Tku for sharing your journey. Inspiring.

    Thank you for explaining and demonstrating. You're amazing. I was severely injured in my left non-dominant hand 10 years ago and it's been uphill, but I'm lucky that one and a half hands work (as long as its not too fiddly!) I used to play Piano, Viola, and various sized Recorders, for fun, but those and of course typing with more than one finger are all out. Take care of yourself ❤❤

    I had a Hemorrhagic Brain Bleed Stroke in 2012 that left me with left side paralysis and I was confined to a wheelchair. Because I had my head shaved so that the doctors could drill in my skull and drain the blood and my eyes were bulging out because of all the pressure in my head I looked scary and my speech was lost also I was in a dark place. I could understand everything that was being said about me but unable to communicate and the negative people around me did not help at all. I was and am Determined to prove that I am still me so on July 2016 I forced myself to start using a crutch to make myself walk. I have gone to College and am a Certified EKG Monitor Technician and I am also a Substitute Teacher and I got my driver's license and am driving since 2022. I loved to work with my hands drawing, sewing and crocheting. I've been trying to figure out how to crochet with my right working hand and now with your video I will be able to figure out a way. Thank you! You are an Inspiration!! Keep up your fight. Trust in GOD and you will accomplish what you set your mind to do with GOD'S help. Nancy Garza - Texss🤗

    I too share a similar experience. I suffered an ischemic stroke 5 years ago and 20 years prior to that, I had a brain aneurysm. The doctors said there was no correlation. While I fully recovered from the aneurysm and brain surgery, I still have left sided weakness from the stroke despite several rounds of OT and PT. I recently joined a gym and restarted PT, in an effort to gain strength, better balance and coordination. My focus is to continue to improve. I hope you are also able to improve.

    Lori, you are a rockstar!!! I had a hemorrhagic stroke almost 15 years ago, Oct. 16, 2008. My youngest daughter was 1 week old. My bleed was in my right frontal lobe and the subarachnoid lining of the brain. I had a craniotomy for that bleed. I also sported the same shaved head as you. So as our story is very similar and our strokes very similar, because of the location, we had some different challenges. I am so lucky I was able to walk again within 5 weeks of being at inpatient therapy at Atlanta, Shepards Center. I walk with no brace or cane, I just can't wear the shoes I once would wear. I live in Sketchers, you know the slip on kind. So many changes in my life over the past 15 years, I still have no function of my left arm/hand. It can hold onto things sometimes. I do art daily, it might be digital art, painting with mixed media, or working with polymer clay, and I make beautiful jewelry. I used to crochet, my oldest daughter crochets now, and I realized, I missed it. I have a room just for painting and clay that is full, but no yarn. You have inspired me to try again. And like you, I create using legs, under my arm, chin, and whatever I see that will work. Thank you for sharing your story. I look forward to following you and see how you progress. Love and peace. Tam.

    I have a few questions for you about when you tied off the knot and held part of the string in your mouth. First, brilliant. Second, it must have taken so much concentration and effort to get that new technique incorporated into your crocheting, and you make it look effortless. Is it effortless or automatic now or do you still have to think about it every time you do it? I also had a Hemorrhagic stroke in April of 2021 and I just found your channel today. I'm in the middle of your video but wanted to ask that question before I forgot it, so don't be overwhelmed if I leave a lot of comments.

    • @melodioushaste
      @melodioushaste ปีที่แล้ว

      I asked that question because I was a chef before my stroke, and now I can use a knife, but it takes so much effort and concentration to do it safely. I am so slow and what used to be my passion, art, and career, I no longer even enjoy doing. Do you still love crocheting? You must, or you probably would not be doing it. Was it frustrating to learn a new way of doing it? I only cook now if I have to.
