This is soooo helpful!! I teach crochet at my church and honestly it neve hit me that one of my best friends with MD would love to learn to crochet but has limited mobility in her left hand. Together we are going to beat this!! In the process of us discussing this at church another lady that has limited mobility from a stroke got involved, she's going to help us on this challenge. I'm so excited! This video has helped immensely!!

Of course I had to look at your recent videos, and you have come such a long way! You're crocheting faster and doing less word finding. Neuroplasticity never stops! For those who don't know about stroke, neuroplasticity is the brain's way of rewiring itself. Our brains are capable of rewiring and rerouting throughout the rest of our lives. My husband had an aneurysm rupture in October and I learned much about strokes and therapy. My mom had a stroke in April and has aphasia like you, so I learned more. Now I amputated a couple fingertips and in my search for one-handed crochet, I found you! Keep working on it - crochet stimulates our brains, lowers our stress, and improves our mood and calmness. All things needed for stroke recovery!

I had my stroke May 2023 and still trying to get my joy back :) thank you so much for sharing your tips/tricks:) crafting is such a big part of my life and going through this rough journey having these little things that bring joy to our life's is so important:) my favorite craft activity is Loomigurumi with the little elastic bands and I'm just starting to try and get that going again. I wish you the best and send love to all of the stroke survivors ❤❤❤ it's so important to keep pushing through and stay positive!! We all surprise ourselves with every improvement we make each day :) Life has so much more meaning post stroke and our outlook on life is just so incredibly different but in a good way. We now know what is important in life and " stressing about getting stuck in traffic" is the last worry on our lists these days bless you all and wishing everyone a happy and healthy recovery:)

This happened to a friend who was a phenomenal crafter and singer. Whilst her singing voice never returned she turned out the most intricate embroideries, beadwork, paintings, did gardening, decorating… in fact it just did not stop her. Her commitment was total and her quality of work was not diminished. What she accomplished with one hand put us to shame. Tku for sharing your journey. Inspiring.

Thank you for explaining and demonstrating. You're amazing. I was severely injured in my left non-dominant hand 10 years ago and it's been uphill, but I'm lucky that one and a half hands work (as long as its not too fiddly!) I used to play Piano, Viola, and various sized Recorders, for fun, but those and of course typing with more than one finger are all out. Take care of yourself ❤❤

depends on the location of the bleed, age and lifestyle prior to the stroke. Also it takes years of practice/relearning for many survivors. Rehab may not be enough for everyone, you only get a certain amount. I'm 2 years post, I have arm movement and can close my hand but can't open due to tone/spasticity. sometimes it's hard to close as well. Hemmorhagic strokes are the hardest to recover from, especially on the left side.

I had a Hemorrhagic Brain Bleed Stroke in 2012 that left me with left side paralysis and I was confined to a wheelchair. Because I had my head shaved so that the doctors could drill in my skull and drain the blood and my eyes were bulging out because of all the pressure in my head I looked scary and my speech was lost also I was in a dark place. I could understand everything that was being said about me but unable to communicate and the negative people around me did not help at all. I was and am Determined to prove that I am still me so on July 2016 I forced myself to start using a crutch to make myself walk. I have gone to College and am a Certified EKG Monitor Technician and I am also a Substitute Teacher and I got my driver's license and am driving since 2022. I loved to work with my hands drawing, sewing and crocheting. I've been trying to figure out how to crochet with my right working hand and now with your video I will be able to figure out a way. Thank you! You are an Inspiration!! Keep up your fight. Trust in GOD and you will accomplish what you set your mind to do with GOD'S help. Nancy Garza - Texss🤗
