The Bontrager 62 are decent. I have them for training rides in my new Trek Speed Concept. Raceday I switch over to an 80mm front and full rear disc. Road bike wise, I don’t go above 50mm, ever. No reason to IMO.
Madone!! ❤
Crazy bike. If you really dig in, you start to understand why this bike costs as much as a down payment on a $350k house.
That's super awesome to know that you can upgrade the fork that easily. Is the SID Luxe shock also upgradable by just swapping out the top control module? If so what is the cost for that?
It’s not. You have to buy a new shock
Thanks for the reply. Love your videos.
Please put flight attendant on a bc 40 and compare all flight attendant bikes aswell as the pivot Mach 4’s
I’m 50% there. Just waiting on the fork
You ride and sell bikes and now you think you know more about about making bikes than the manufacturer? Lol! Brands like Cervelo is well known now because they know what they're doing. If you already have a name, you don't destroy it with stupid product. Now, If the bike comes with it, you better use it. 😊
I’m not understanding what your saying
Is this the same colour that also comes on the Epic 8 Evo comp ? Or is it a different colour ?
so this bike is like step up from rigid > hard tail > flex stay soft tail > flex stay piviot (this bike) > xc full suspension > downcountry > short travel trail > long travel trail > etc etc
14,500 and the shipper be stepping on it. Instant complaint if it was me.
FedEx isn’t our favorite
@@bicyclestation i would hope not with that kind of disrespect. Ill never experience it though because i could never afford a bike like that...i always go with the left over sales 🤣
Specialized says these were engineered for 26mm "but still pretty fast with 28-30mm tires."
great video the music in the background is unfortunately more disturbing than adding value to the content 🙂
How is it compare to the New Madone with Enve Melee? interest on both and decide which to get.
Standard bottles do fit in the Madone SLR aero cage.
Yea I was wrong. Our bad.
Melee v Madone vid please
do you run your BC40 with 160 rotor or 180 mm on the rear thanks great video. I just bought a BC40 for myself and last year I bought a BC40 for my wife's 40th she loved it so so much I bought it for myself. thanks your video help me confirm buying it
How to order same set up?
Email me jesse@thebicyclestation.com
Question for you guys and your sizing. I'm 6'0" tall with a 30" inseam. I seem to be right in between a 56 and 58 and could probably make either one work. I've had a proper fit done before on a Venge Vias and I was on 56. Also have a 56 last gen Venge. I had a bike shop put me on a 58 for an SL7. I'm trying to decide the optimal size for the SL8. I've reviewed the geometry charts but thought I'd check and see what you recommend. On the SL7, I think I was running 10mm of spacers. Seems like some subtle geometry changes between SL7 and SL8 but overall very similar. But looks to be a 56 with 25 spacers and 110 stem or a 58 with 10mm spacers and a 100mm stem.
Can you stand over the 58 comfortably?
@@bicyclestation Ya no issues. Don't have the SL7 anymore but didn't have any issues with stand over.
If you liked the 58 sl7 I think you’d like the 58 sl8
Bummer that the Aspero frameset is made in China now.
Did cervelo make frames somewhere not in Asia before? I wasn’t aware of a change.
@@bicyclestation My 2022 Aspero and S5 frames were made in Taiwan.
I just looked it up. The 2025 Aspero was manufactured by Ming cycle in Taiwan. Sorry for the confusion we were just joking around in the video
Were the wheels setup up Tubeless during the weighing of the Madone and did they have sealant in them (if so, how much roughly?) or just pumped up with air?
I put a lot of sealant in
Hey guys, just wondering why you prefer SRAM over Shimano; it's a purely friendly curious question, I have only been riding Di2 on Road Bikes would love to know your point of view :)
I don’t hate shimano and they definitely make great stuff but there’s a lot of reasons we push sram. 1. We have a really close relationship with sram. They effectively are local to us in being in Indy and Chicago and a lot of our friends work there. The flip side is shimano has never even come to visit our store once in the last 3 years. Sram has included us in every new product launch over the last three years. 2. We benefit from Srams best pricing on all their products. And sram works hard to make sure their stuff isn’t sold online for super cheep. Shimano lets anyone sell their stuff for almost wholesale in some cases. We don’t really make money on Shimano products a lot of the time. 3. Shimano is seriously behind from a product standpoint. Srams on like 3th generation wireless mtb drivetrains and Shimano doesn’t even have one right now. 12 speed di2 is way more complicated then srams AXS and Shimano’s app is terrible compared to srams. Sram is releasing bleeding edge suspension and shifting tech and Shimano can’t even make a power meter that works properly. Oh and that power meter that doesn’t work costs 5x a functional quarq meter. I can go on and on but yea. Sram is just killing it right now and are fun to work with.
@@bicyclestation Hey thanks for taking time on your reply, that's super honest, love it! Looking forward to more of your videos, keep it flowing :)
@Trey: Can you please describe your driving impressions? is the gen 8 really as fast as the gen 7? i can't imagine....
Review Colnago v4rs ❤
That MOG looks amazing, especially in the blue! How would I make the WC faster? Race Kings or Aspen ST and a little more air, then maybe lockout the shock. Could shed some more weight through some Berd wheels.
Black is atrocious color way for this bike
Primoz
In the future, of you're building a Trek from a P1 box, slide the box off the base, then you can remove the cardboard tubing and free the bike up easier.
Gotta assert your dominance over the box
sizing seems crazy i’m 6ft and ride a 58 emonda with a 130 stem and honestly wanted to size down to a 56 but now there’s no chance
Agreed- geometry is wonky. 56.3 TT and a 100 stem on a size large- WTF
Is that a 350mm post on the Melee?
Even with pedals & bottle cages 7.5kg isn’t that light. Without it would still be around 7.2kg. With all the hype I expected 6.8s. Personally, disappointing 😢
Yea I thought it would be lighter
As a 6ft person, when i sat on a ML it felt significantly better than a L, though i will have to order a 120mm(+6mm for RED E1 Levers luckily) for the stem to get the same fit as a 110mm on the previous madone in a 58cm. This is with me nearly maxing the long post seat height. Going the same build as trey 👍 looks awesome!
It's like measuring one's d...these channels
What?
Ugly. Previous gen madone was better looking
The sizing of this bike, while questionable for most, sounds perfect for me. I'm maxed out on the 58cm gen 7 Madone seatpost, so I have this weird high stack saddle and 175mm cranks. I could finally have a normal setup with this large. I am also 5'11, lol.
Bike looks very nice. Out of curiosity what is Trey's saddle height? I'm also 5'11 and now thinking should I be on a M/L or a L
MF DOOM mentioned!!!!!!!
You should get another one now that it’s Madone 16 so that it becomes Madone 24. Like 2024, get it? 😂
Tall person with a tall saddle height (84cm) here haha. The look of the Madone felt weird at first but now I totally dig it. I’m 6-4 and ride a XL TCR now. I guess XL should fit perfectly. Ok heading to the P1 website now. Thanks!
I’m looking at the project one builds and there aren’t options to change the handlebars or seatpost. Is that something that can only be done by trek dealers?
100%. You can pick every fit part even crank length.
Go to a shop, they'll walk you through it. Should be able to customize it to what you want/need. The component sizes should be under the sizing portion of the P1 build if you're doing it at home.
Need a Gen 7 vs Gen 8 comparison like you did Madone vs Tarmac
Probably test both bikes with aero bottle
Want one of these so bad. My wallet wants the $3500 105 mechanical sl 5 and just buy some quality chinese wheels but my eyes want the $6500 black and purple sl 7
The purple one is so cool. We sold one today. It’s got this amazing green in it also
@@bicyclestation your words are drowning out the voice of my wallet
Why wouldn’t you take a hacksaw to the longer seatpost rather than spending $300 for a shorter one?
That would be to easy and logical. The post wedge sits in the post and you can’t cut it at all.
The M is like a 52/54 with short stem, short post and 170mm cranks.
Nice bike!
Wow Trey that’s a nice bicycle
Does the black SLR frameset on Treks site look like this?
This is exactly that color
Hey legends, please tell me you went back and swapped the red/orange washer from the Shimano freehub into the XDr one 😅
I think we did. But honestly we might not of lol. I’ve ridden the wheels like 200 miles so hopefully hahahaha
Do the 26s not blow up to 28ish anyway with the internal rim width of this wheel set? would be interesting to know.
I doubt it. The internal is narrow. Just 21. The external is crazy wide
The purpose of the 26mm tyres is the aero shape combined with the wheel , yea the tyres are not meant to poke out past the rim and the width of the rim makes the shape of the tyre the roundness gives way better cornering
