I know your channel is pretty small still but your reviews are highly underrated. When people are looking to buy a bike and they're all individual reviews (ie. here's a review on the Crux or here's a review of the Checkmate), they all focus on just that bike. Which is cool but when you're shopping for a new bike it's all about the comparisons between different bikes. Sure the Crux is the lightest but I'm not sure it's the best bike for me but a review focusing on the Crux will say "OMG, lightest ever, so much fun"... but in reality it sounds like the MOG is probably the better bike for most folks just looking to enjoy some gravel riding. Keep up the great reviews (and it'd be cool to see a Fray review even if you can't really fit one)!
Thanks Jesse for the great customer service on the phone today! I'm stoked to be picking up my new bike!! ZFS-5 BABY
Just built a MOG. Size 56, XX RD, 46T chainring with Force wide crank 107bcd power meter. On 2.2 conti race kings. Coming from the gen1 Aspero. Couple things -- I run sw recon lace size 44 (cleat pushed all the way back) and no toe overlap on 165mm cranks. But you could have overlap on longer cranks. The 2.2 tire hairs hit all sides of the frame in the front and rear. Closest spot is the seat tube which is around 3-4mm. The storage is much nicer in that the down tube is proportionally sized and not obnoxious. I’d rather it not have all the mounting bolts, just the top tube bag. Also would be nice if they just made BBs mtb sized at this point. It’s more slack than a crux but that’s a cross/gravel bike…. and since the top tube is longer you can put a shorter stem and it’ll feel similar. the crux is definitely lighter but bare bones really…. And probably slower in reality in stock version given the aero profile. The crux can’t fit 2.1s unless you cut the knobs down. And current large gravel tires aren’t comparable to race kings and thunder b’s
Can I ask your height and how the 56 feels?
@@SnowShackboy6’1 ft tall. It’s a “standard” sized 56. Given the stack it rides like an “endurance” road bike with longer chain stay to accommodate the tires. So unless you’re used to a very low stack, it feels normal
Love your videos. It’s just the little things like “yes you can run a normal Red crank” that are super useful. I’m thinking of building one of these up and that was absolutely one of my questions and you’ve just answered it. Keep up the good work guys!!
I rented a MOG for a week in Girona, Spain (from Velodrom). Was set up with SRAM 2x. I had a blast outside of following some gravel routes that had me walking through wheat fields some of the time 🤣. Internal storage is a pretty nice trick. Bike felt great and did everything I asked of it.
Loved the video… I’m building a MOG right now, and I agree on your comments. Would you have a suggestions of nice wheels for this bike? Thinking on some Rovals CLX ii or the new reserve GR 40.
Agree with your points. I love mine and I think I have said “this is a really good bike” every time I have ridden the bike.
Exactly. New baseline expectation of what a gravel bike is
It looks awesome. I like matt finish, so this incredible expensive frame has a bonus for me! And made in America and it seems to be an excellent frame. Have much fun with it! 😉
Toe clip overlap is also relative to the tire that you use. I have a 54cm Mog. Zero overlap with 700x45mm, some overlap with 700x47mm, lots of overlap with the "big boy" Thunder Burt 700x2.1
Unfortunately on the smaller frame there was still overlap with 42’s and a size 38 shoe. Not an issue on larger sizes
Whoever does the editing gets a thumbs up. Like if Vic Berger or Tim & Eric decided to do bike vids.
Any ETA on a Thunder Burt 2.1 transparent sidewall restock? They’re out of stock everywhere, including QBP. Figured I’d pay full price and support your channel, but y’all don’t have them either! I blame Dylan Johnson and you guys.
Anyways. Love my MOG. love your videos. Salient points across the board.
They have been out of stock for 6 months lol.
Most road bikes have toe-overlap is small sizes. It isn't that bad, because you rarely tilt your handlebars "in the wrong" way. But using fenders make it even worse. I always kicked it. ^.^
Great honest vid trio 😇
Hello bicycle station. I think enve provide a -17° stem to have the stack much lower. Really appreciate your contents 🙂🙂
Send me a link to that. Appreciate it
Enve Mog is far superior bike than the crux, frame storage and integrated cable superb. Got Enve G23 with 45 for all day all ride and enve ses 3.4 for smother ride, Sram red mullet 10*50. Enve Mog is the best all around bike. Bike 17.2 lbs with pedals 😅
Hey team, what spacers are you running on the cranks either side with that road standard set please?
Stack heights have gotten way too low imo, due mainly to us amateurs buying the same frames as pros. I see very few people around me with propper bent elbows on slammed SL7/8’s. I have this bike and the stack is exactly the same as my cervelo r series from 6 years ago.
Idk it pretty tall in my opinion.
@@bicyclestation I agree it’s taller. I have an aspero and it’s 7mm taller. My point was that we focus on stack height yet ride slammed stems with straight arms (I’m guilty of this for vanity reasons). Which is less aero. I agree with your view that more bikes should be trying to keep the look but increase comfort like ENVE is doing. Obviously doesn’t work well for pros, but they should conform to consumers that make the brands money and not the other way around. Love the channel btw. Helpful videos. Bought a mog partially due to your videos
Recently discover the channel while looking for info about the Enve MOG.
Around 5:30 in the video you guys started talking about geometry.I would like to use the MOG for bikepacking and was wondering what the right size would be.
So I'm looking for a more relaxed fit.Nothing close to racing.
I'm 6"2 for 77 kilo's
What would be your recommendation ?
Thx and keep up the good work
Probably recommend a 58. Shoot me an email at jesse@thebicyclestation.com if you want us to help you get one!
enve needs to redesign their seatpost saddle clamp because its crap
@6:00 this is why I do short medium tall options on all bikes made through brackish Cycles. With the tech we have available, there shouldn't be compromises these days
Would the SLK -20 stem work for your fit desires? Not sure how enve's internal routing would work with it
My thought process in reviewing bikes is if I have to do some kinda out of the norm thing to get a good bike fit then it’s not worth it. I think it’s possible, I think there’s even a way to put a normal stem on the bike. But what’s the point of owning an enve if I have to get some non enve stem that won’t look proper.
"every gravel bike should be able to fit 2.1"/50mm tires otherwise I just don't want ride it" - amen to this!!
Every time that now I see a new gravel bike release and I see 45-47mm tire clearance I immediately go "ok... not interested".
The fully integrated Enve stem. Is that proprietary?
Can you run the cables like the new Aspero with a 3rd party spacer kit?
Traveling would suck with this bike
It is but it’s kinda been wildly adopted in the boutique bike world. Lots of brands are starting to use it.
You can. But I think that’s defeating the point of the bike. It’s designed with the stem and I think that’s why people gravitate towards it. I can put a set up on it that would work but it compromises the experience. I’ll try to explain that better in future reviews where it’s relevant
Can you fit thunderburts in the crux ?
I’ve seen it done but with almost zero room left. I would say no realistically.
what do you think about the mog vs the stigmata?
Haven’t ridden a Stigmata
Main issue with the MOG IMHO is… the color / paint scheme… so dull & boring… too bad
To each their own. I don't want anything to do with gravel, but I keep looking up the MOG every few months because all three colors they offer are unmatched. I wish they'd do the same with Fray.
Excellent review! Congratulations. Every bike has its customers, but there are definitely thousands of bikes with the same specs for much less!
The weight difference between this and the crux can’t be that much different. ½-1lb with the same build kit and tires.
My crux was 16 lbs. Huge difference.
16lbs…but with the same tire/wheel combination? The Crux will undoubtedly still be lighter but not by 3lbs.
What is the depth of the enve aero bar on the tops? 50mm?
Pass Quest LFG!
Chase definitely rode it more
I love that this was an argument
10 reasons it sucks followed by we really like the Mog…LOL
None of us think it sucks
Why don't u put -17 stem on it ?
They don’t make one
That's why I use DEDA Vinci
I’d rather just get a different bike at that point. Trying to keep the review to just about the enve bike and their set up.
In France you Can buy the mog with -6 or -17 in route stem 🙂 i send you one if you want
I just want to see a photo of a bike with a -17 in route stem
So, she hated the frame storage for no apparent reason? That's very irrational thinking. It's better if you can exclude her from anymore future discussions.
She says it’s the best she’s used. This stems from a history of the smaller sized bikes having compromised design with frame storage. Seems like a relevant thing to talk about in a video. Can’t think of a single other bike reviewer who’s talking about size small bikes. It’s better if you just exclude yourself.
