January 2025 pretty sad to report the “stairway to heaven” is currently closed 1,5 km after observatory probably due to weather conditions right now. it’s impossible to see anything so watching this vid really gave me a broader idea what lay beyond the clouds 21:23

many chapters before us (first, 79 AD), the romans were stopped in their stride, their marches halted, by united tribes from hills and mountains like these, and the lowlands alike. calendonia. our land... their lands. they were picts - the Picti - the painted people. every scene in this vid was forested at that time. these [usually blue] painted people, wore animal skins, united their warring tribes, to take on a new enemy. a common one, a formidable one, who had torn through a (mostly unknown, to us) celtic world. they were the far northern reaches of a fractured, stretched roman empire. professional soldiers from all over the known world. roman superstitions only grew, as the natives defended, and ripped through legions of romans, in the marshlands and forests to sounds of ominous horns (the carnyx) through the fog, and changeable and unforgivingly wet weather conditons. horizontal winds. superstitions grew as 'the demons' of caledonia used malitia warfare tactics. a cursed land. at the same time, the western roman empire was collapsing from within. a wall was built.

That last hike is looking just fabulous. Incredible. Definitely want to do this one next year.

I’ve hiked Tre Cime and Seceda in 2023. I also completed the Northface Trail in Mürren in 2024, as well as Zermatt, Oeschinensee, and Schafler-where the sunsets and sunrises were absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, next year I’ll be focusing on hiking in Japan. This video brings back so many wonderful memories-thank you so much for reminding me of those great moments! 😭
