Wouldn’t surprise me if blizzard is somehow in on the selling of gold. Why haven’t they taken action and why would they get mad at you for trying to help

Interesting stuff. I was a GM at the Irvine office (before they had the campus) in 2007-2008. Things changed a lot from the time I was one and when you were one.

back in 2013 I was suicidal and talking on WoW with my guild, I was so damn depressed, a GM was contacted by a guild mate, police showed up at my house and I got help. Didn't need a ticket at all. They do definately take it serious.

You aren't paying for the game when buying it through a digital store. You are paying for the license to play on that platform. It's why they can keep making you 'buy' the game over and over.

I howled with laughter when you said "I would challenge Blizzard to buck the trend of automated support systems". You have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice on your way to cash in a $300 million dollar powerball ticket than Blizzard ever doing anything other than the bare minimum unless it involves other avenues of wringing another buck out of this broken husk of a game.

I remember I use to travel all over twitch and TH-cam when I first got the game, go to arenas and play with them, until I met someone that were streaming the game, started to get active in the discord before i joined another streamer who's really competitive. a few months or a year has pass and someone decided to invite his irl friend to the server (way before he became racist and transphobic), first few weeks were good, until he decided to be problematic for the server owner, and made a server dedicated to his trolling, I joined their sever to do the same thing, and I got banned for it, in witch it almost made me the worst version of myself cause that person is so narcissist about his wins I really get soo pissed off about it, and I almost turn in LowTeirGod because of him. I am really Glad that we are no longer friends cause if I enter into my local tourney and I see him after it, I would've jumped him soo hard I started to imaging real life smash bros and make him taste his own medicine. again this is my experience with the people, i had some rare positives and common negatives experiences, and let me just say. the smash bros community is very swampy mindset, and they really needed to change for the betterment for the francize as a whole but again, the smash community is sometimes soo far up their own arse, the battle for nepotism will always got for the worst of it. I would jave never thought of asling a GM for help on a quest

Its a bit sad, I played Blizz games for ages (2 decades?), never wow but D2, Sc2, Hots, Hearthstone etc. Never got banned over chat or anything, just a silence once or twice. I guess any serious fights of mine fell into mutual combat the few times they happened. They moved to a AI/# based automated system for Heroes of the Storm. Caught 2 bans within 30 days, next one was account deletion on hots. Heard from others people recycled accounts like socks, some being on their 4-5-6th hots account, I refused to play that "game" and refused to change my interactons that worked for 20 y so i ended up deleting my entire blizz acc. This at a time that blizz had its own internal drama about a toxic environment (as you experienced yourself @ your manager) and actual sexual abuse. The hypocrisy... But GMs seemed fine up to that point to me.

Ever since South Park's "Human Centipad" episode I feel compelled to read these things I'm signing or agreeing to. I have tried to skim them and they are long and written in the legal jargon that compels people to fall asleep.

I rarely in my 20ish years of WoW game play needed to contact the GM. I did have a compromised account and it was resolved swiftly and satisfactorily. That being said, I recently during the WoW ReMix had to contact the gm/submit a ticket and never received a resolution or even an answer to my transmog item/achievement question. It was like the AI didn't know how to understand what I was asking and just handed me a nonsense answer even after resubmitting. Hello, can I talk to a real person please!! frustrating. I honestly , though, can't imagine being a GM "back in the day". I used to think it'd be so cool to work for Blizzard, but both myself and my daughter (who is also into computers and gaming) have decided it would not be so cool. Thanks for the interesting video!! As someone who is close friends with people who were friends with the devs, he's right about pay descrepencies. The execs made sacks of cash and the workers made bullshit. Capitalism, baby.

That Quest Reward stuff was a big killer for Roleplay reasons. Specificly I mean, after they changed it so you only get your armor-class. There was an item in Nagrand, it was cloth but im a warrior. Yes I got it back then, but nobody else could get it on everything thats not cloth. It was some horns like from that one warlock set maybe. Yeah I was edgy. (still am, also horny hah) Im not playing anymore since.. that was before shadowlands.. i come back when they bring in Human Demonhunter.

19:00 Had them call police on me and had a wellness check done so I can confirm this one lol I was 15 at the time... they asked for my dad because the account was in his name for the billing it was 3am when they came and woke him up lol oopsie.

My brother used to be a top game exploiter. I know that sounds silly but regardless he found an exploit to get into Cata Hyjal before the expansion was even released. Him and me used this exploit to sell greens that were much higher ilv from the next expansion in wrath. I mention this story because a GM actually watched us do it then ported us to org where he basically sat us down and said "tell us how you did it and we wont ban you". Was a pretty interesting experience and my favorite exploit that he/we ever found. I only tell this story cause around the 22:00 minute mark you say something like "if someone was clearly cheating theyd always just be booted off and then an email conversation". While I agree this was most usually the case; it definitely wasn't always.

I'm also not consecutively mentally stable. I have mental health issues. & I've been dealing with intense sinusitus caused by mold caused by a leak. & I was kinda put down by a ER doctor when I was in pain to such an extent I was actually thinking about ending myself. I finally called the hospital & spoke to some one. & it helped a lot. They gave me some recommendations to help with my pain. & it helped with my mental stress.

I also recently had an elitist dps again recently who was like tank get agro. Started being rude. & was like Get good noob. So I was like F you & left the dungeon. They were like reported. I then reported them for it.

I also ended up helping my mom when someone haked her account. she was just going to bed after getting off. Her account was logged into. So I called her cause she didn't respond which isn't in character. After we figured out what happened. I started falowing them through orgrimar well cussing the guy out. They freaked out so bad. They unfriended me on mom's account. & kept running from me. Well mom was talking to customer services.

I don't have that issue with my calls. plus I answer all scammer calls as something lewd or offensive towards Arab or Indian nationals. with Indians it's anything pertaining to cows. so yeah.

Durring BFA I was farming illidan for the warglaives. After about 6 months I had one of them, Then, I saw fucking both of em drop, at once, went to take a screenshot And corpse became unlootable and nothing in my bags 🥲 Spoke with a GM and he confirmed nothing dropped off the boss and they’re looking into the issue. Never got that second glaive

25:00 There is also the potential security risk of allowing GM accounts to log into the regular client. I know PoE2 just had this happen very recently where an admin account was compromised and they did a lot of damage to player accounts and a single bug caused logs to not be generated properly. (They went into better detail with the GhazzyTV interview very recently) I can't imagine what could have happened if any GM account password leaked, and someone took advantage of that at home. Locking them down to internal clients was the right choice for that too.

Sounds to me like that blizzard manager who chewed you out lost some of his gold selling accounts

I once had a GM whisper me a few hours after a ticket was resolved thanking me again for not getting angry and for being polite, he said he wished that more players had the same attitude. The ticket was over blizzard charging me twice for subscription or something, was definitely something that required a refund. I felt bad for him

Blizzard is woke af and we all know that 'racism' will only be acted against if it's not against white people. Because you can be anti-white all you want in Blizzard games.

Back in vanilla i asked a gm what they thought of ganking and if it was fair. They replied with something like, " all is fair in the name of war."

I didn't run into any issues with buying gold in the early days, but I will note that I did get a two week suspension for buying gold during Season of Mastery a few years back to get my epic mount faster as a first warning (they even took the mount away lol). I never bought gold again as I knew there was real risk now of losing access to my account and all my characters. I did hear about "ban waves" happening since then on different versions of the game so hopefully it's better? Any ways, thanks for sharing your blizzard job experience, sorry it ended so badly.

we had a stupid quild name for our alts that we made as a joke and we all woke up the next day in the guild "insert name here" or something generic like that lol we laughed so hard but we deserved it.

I'm still convinced the GMs are all bots- they never fix anything. Last time I came back to Wow after a few years and made a new boost character. Blizzard put it on a realm that wasn't the one my guild was on. I put in ticket and they said they couldn't fix it. However if I paid them money they could. WTF???? Refuse to be extorted!!!!!

I got away with a visit to GM island 😎 suckas He’s not wrong though. We got spooked and dipped within minutes 😂😂

Today, bots report players in Battleground, when their names are mentioned in chat. Lost 2 WoW accounts in WotLK Classic, from auto bans over many reports made by bots. The bots are still around till this day. Says alot of Blizzard today, than it used to. Been playing since the beginning of Vanilla. After loosing my 2nd account, I no longer care about their rules. They lost so many real players, duo to these auto bans. And they wouldn’t restore the accounts.

This has been such a fun retrospective. Even WoW aside, it's just fun to hear how different IT shops handle thing. I have one question, did GMs ever play on like a custom server with bizarre rules? What I mean is, could you setup a realm where everything was 500% exp and moon gravity? Just for shits and giggles.

Glad Blizzard takes suicidal ideation so seriously, even if it's legally required. The fact that GM leads / managers join the GM to address those together is fantastic. Have had to call 911 on my wife one day where it seriously seemed like she took the car to go drive into a lake. Had to work with suicidal people in the military as well. Extremely scary and mentally ... taxing? ... to really try to respond to those. So much that those encounters are just burned into your memory. Very tramautic, even if you're not the one who is suicidal.

Being a game master sounds like being a teller at a bank. You are just there to assist people, escalate serious issues, don't approach / become friends with your customers off hours. Honestly more fun than it sounds, but can be exhausting Did you work in a cubicle or was it more open office?

Companies should implement more human interaction versus AI, but they won't. Also, good on you for doing what WAS needed for the health of the game before you quit.

Note to people who want to make nintendo mods. Keep it on the DL from the public, get together with trusted modders and programmers and spread the project far and wide between developers, use P2P to keep up to date with the builds. Then, when you are actually done, ready to release it, then you release it on multiple websites, especially ones who dont deal with japanese and american law, there are tons of websites that will keep these files up. If you DONT SAY A DAMN WORD, and THEN release it when its done, and you release it with such a wide net, you are GUARUNTEEING its success to spread to as many people as possible. The reason why some fan games get lost forever is because there are only a handful of websites that have it and once they're gone, people typically don't repost them anywhere. You have to make it hit with such a bang that nintendo has to use too many resources than they actually have to fight it.
