9 Steps to Ruin Your Mental Health (Don't do this!)
This is one of those "what not to do" videos that includes 9 steps to ruin your mental health. If you want to be happy and have a fulfilling life, these are things not to do. Our minds tend to respond more to potential threats or danger than to ideas of what we should ideally do. That's why the negative approach is helpful for some people. However, don't take the video too seriously. We all have room for improvement. The most helpful way to use videos like this is to pick out one or two key points from the video to focus on improving instead of possibly getting overwhelmed and doing nothing because it seems like you can identify with several of the points (many people can). Please be kind to yourself!

Do they show up on drug tests?? Anyone?
I hated better health especially the business aspect.
you need the right medicine at the right dose and there are many to choose from.
I have been in therapy here and there since about 2009. I saw this term on Dr K HealthygamerGG and was showing my niece what Alexithymia was all about and found this. Is it a new disorder? I'm pretty sure this is me though as you gave some great examples that are so me. Thanks
I’m suffering from long term effects from taking klonopin for 30 years low dose , went paradoxal on me and I habe the most horrific life now, o can barley leave my home …..go into benzo support groups…..it’s sad
How to distinguish between a heart attack and a panic attack?
I love this drug ...it works way better than SSRIs and SNRIs for anxiety
Me too!!! Just started this week and it literally saved my life I feel like a normal person
Its the same number of years in South Africa but differently distributed. Its 6yrs undergrad for Bachelor in Medicine and surgery. Then you specialise, 4 years Masters in psychiatry. And then you have to complete 1 year residency internship and another year of community service
What do you think of 1mg Xanax (as needed ) I do take it everyday . I never am short on meds each month and I’ve been on this dose close to 3 years with no need to up my dose. I’m prescribed bc I’ve had a traumatic experience in 2021 . I got covid and gave it too my mother who passed away from it . Which deep down I blame myself for jt since I gave it too here. This medicine is the only thing that keeps the noise down in my head when I need jt too . Do you think I’m a candidate for long term use.
Antidepressants cause low pressure, cause prolonged erection and peripism,,,than start another depresionnnnn
I'm elderly. My podiatrist prescribed gabapentin for advanced neuropathy but didn't explain side effects. During the year that I took gabapentin, I developed brain fog, so I just stopped taking it. At the time, my new diabetic doctor had prescribed Losartan to protect my kidneys. My cardiologist figured out that it was causing my dizziness, so I stopped taking too. I believe that many of us seniors are overly medicated. I have ten prescribed meds plus supplements.
I think this video was awesome
The side effects of gabapentin are not worth it. My mother is a Dr and she absolutely hates rxing it... It seriously hurts people long term
Can you go into more detail please
You are right. Number 4 would be DRY MOUTH! Drink water people or watch your oral health slowly go down.
Yet I can go and buy as much alcohol as I want (which destroys lives) but doctors wont proscribe me the medication I might need because they care about addiction? Give me a break. This medication should be on a rare as needed bases, not taken every day.

Sert 100 mg cause hair loss?
I have severe CPTSD, ocd and agoraphobia. The only drug I have ever taken that help with my panic attacks is xanex. Moved and had to see a new psychiatrist. She instantly took me off of xanex and followed a long trend of treating my anxiety with blood pressure meds. At one point I was on 7 different blood pressure medications. So I started passing out.
Most honest dr . I have same proscriptions 🙏
I am taking sert 100 mg.i am having a hair fall but feeling much better what can i do . I was taking escitalopram which was having me blurred vision what should i do please tell me?
I worry about the escalating unavailability of accommodations for Seniors. The isolation, cost of medication and standard of living , alone, in an increasingly violent world.
my story is too long to go over here but if you're looking to detox, off benzo's, what worked for me was no-fap...
I left my friends cause I was lonely
It's refreshing to find a psychiatrist on TH-cam who doesn't think benzodiazepines are the next Oxycontin. They've saved a lot of people's lives, and those people are going to suffer.
Post ssri sexual dysfonction. Post finasteride and post Roaccutane are similar.
I am very interested in becoming a psychiatrist but I am quite worried about the never ending exams and stress involved in training. I’m just a undergrad student right now and looking forward I see a long, and brutal journey. My biggest concern is simply not being able to get into medical school, or not being able to succeed once I am in. What are your thoughts on Caribbean medical schools? In some ways, I am comforted to know that if I really can not get into any US schools I could at least attend a Caribbean.
If you truthly want to help people mentally but hesitate to handle huge amount of stress + workload in a medical school, you may consider becoming a therapist. DO NOT EVER apply to a Caribbean school, it's a trap to lure people in & not grantee a residency spot in the US. Plus, may end up with huge amount of debt without becoming a doctor. Anyways, I hope you eventually find what suit best for you. Like people say, life is a journey, not a goal.
I take 2x25mg a day and it helpes my anxiety a lot! Better than every ssri.. but everywhere i read there is a quick tolerance building, so is it considered a long term medication?
Sir how can I contact you ?
Great video, this gives me needed information as I try to find a psychiatrist.
thanks for this! incredibly nervous for my first appointment tomorrow. i'm just worried about presenting myself inaccurately tbh. i get apprehensive about being vulnerable & opening up about my struggles so i tend to downplay things,,
I have been taking Valium for many years, just the small dose of 2mg and only when needed.I am happy to take these with no high doses,my doctor is reluctant to prescribe them but I tell her at my age what the heck I’m 91
Sir!i live in Pakistan and am suffering from severe anxiety, I am using Escitalopram 10mg morning and Clonazepam 0.5mg half morning and whole night. Doctor has increased my ecitalopram dose from 10mg to 15mg after which anxiety is gone but brain is not tolerating escitalopram 15mg brain is very heavy can use any other ssri salt and same result as escitalopram 15mg.. Please Reply Thank you
I have suffered with panic disorder for many years, and after being ignored about my illness I was destined to be my own doctor and gave them a chance and lord behold I was able to do things I could never have imagined,I also used it for alcohol withdrawals as I went through a period of depression and anxiety so I turned to alcohol for many years thanks to these meds I feel much happier and free from anxiety depression and alcohol addiction
Will my anxiety return when stopping ssris or do they have long lasting effects?
it comes back
Very helpful. Thanks for your time . For me . One step at a time I guess… in Canada , it’s next to impossible to find a mental health person.
Thank you and best wishes to you with your situation.
Would you be able to do a video on how to differentiate atypical depression from borderline personality disorder?
Super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautifully done. 🙏
Thank you kindly!
Do not do it my son is suffering because of this horrible medicine
i take 150mg of bupropion, 15mg escitalopram, and 375mg of pregabalin throughout the day to fight icd-10 f41.0
I have taken over 25 different medications and none of them worked
Very helpful 😊
Thank you. Glad it was helpful!
going through withdrawals right now after not taking my medication for three days. i feel so sick and i hope my frantic feelings go away soon😢
30 odd years on diazepam ruined my life
Thanks for making this. Antidepressants haven't worked for me. I'm currently undergoing ketamine therapy which is expensive. I've always told my therapist I feel like I'm living life at 80% and everyone else is at 100%... so when I found this video and others on Dysthymia it really opened my eyes and explains a lot of things. I think most of us are just looking for the proper diagnosis. The only problem is this has limited treatment options and sounds like its something we have to work on ourselves. I've heard CBASP might work too? Seems like there's limited resources for that too. Either way, at least I THINK I know whats been going on with me my entire life. That alone is a sense of relief.. but now a new battle begins
Thanks for your comment. Best wishes to you.
Have you been on them? Perhaps before you start telling us how great they are, they are horrible.
Kindly do a video on tourette tics.
