Hi From the UK 🇬🇧 blobs great Stillwater point (attractor) fly I often fish a natural fly such a s a Chironomid behind the blob as the blob attracts the fish then a more fussy fish will turn away and potentially take the natural dropper.

This last weekend I caught a 17" Brown on a "mop" and an 18" Rainbow on a "blob". I also caught a few swinging a team of three wet flies. Fly fishing has continued to evolve over the decades, and all along the way there have been people claiming sacrilege with the latest innovation, only to see the latest become a staple of the tool box in the years to follow.

Great video! Man, I miss this simplistic fishing. When I was in eastern Washington years ago, my buddies and I used to fish chironomid patterns vertically in 25'30' of water via full sink lines, utilizing that same slow retrieve. Some takes were subtle, others were steady take downs, with many other being crashing hits that would nearly take the rods out of our hands! Such a hoot!

Guides don't even have the numbers of flies that these "fly organizers" show us. It's absurd to have that many flies. I love the boxes with 15-20 (or more) flies neatly lined up, row after row -- 95% of which will never be used.

Love your video and I agree with everything except 1 thing . Weather it is a fly or a lure when I am conventional fishing. It never goes in a box until it is dry. Flies and lures are expensive and needs to be protected against rust. I put them in a hat hand. Later that night or the next day I put them away and do maintenance on my gear like wiping down rods and reals. Doing inventory to see if I am running low on something. Same goes with waders and camping gear if used. I think of it as part of the overall experience. When I was younger I use to just put them back without worrying about it. I went into the army and when I got out almost everything had to be replaced. Lesson learned. Great video loved all your ideas. I already use most of them. Going to start color coordinating patterns by size. Have a great life.😊

I'm in total agreement with you about this. i have a small flybox with a bunch of holes drilled in it, that lives in my vest. wet files go in there till dry. I also find that I go into that box to re-use a fly frequently.

Blob fly works great for ice fishing, caught a 3lber with a hot pink blob fly with a deep red short tail, I couldn’t keep them off of it! Oh and I wasn’t using any bait just the fly itself with 3 1/16oz tungsten gold beads for added on my ice fishing line to add weight to get down quicker to my desired depth

I continue to be surprised at how well these good looking match the hatch patterns work. Recently landed a good number of fish when no one was having any luck at all and had guys asking me what pattern? If you've not seen one of these before it's a shock to some fisherman for sure. You're doing a good job Jordan. Thanks

How would putting your anchor on one side or the other of the rear of the boat make a different? The motor is in the middle making it equal distance to a rear mounted anchor. And what difference does it make which hand a fisherman uses on the boat. That also made no sense.

I caught the biggest fish of my life today. (not counting channel catfish years and years ago) I am not sure how big it was, but it was at least 6 inches from spine to belly, and I measured it 22 inches. It made my flipping day! I caught it on a blood worm on a Daiichi 1870. size 8 wrapped in medium red wire with a pink hot spot band at the 1/3rd mark. I do not know what tippet size it was since I do not buy that 30 yards of tippet for 15 bucks, I buy 4lb flouro by 150 yards for 10 bucks at walmart. =)

When you float a fly past a group a 20 fish and not one of them move you know its time to change the fly. The chances that 20 or even 10 fish are not eat at all is not logical.

Took a long time to go over three things. I would suggest that if you are tying commercially, that you tie the same pattern in the same color and size. The mechanics will get you into a rhythm that can be more productive and you will find that the more your repeat the same pattern the better it will look. I often tie a mayfly dun say a dozen in size 14, then 16, 18, 20, etc... to get the full size range depending upon what I am imitating. I do not mix tying dries with wets or nymphs either. I tie within a species then move to the next. This keeps things moving along.

Great video! If you're fishing for mid and late summer Brook Trout, in the 10-20 ft range; do you (I) choose the SD 3/5 or the SD 5/7? That's the quandary I'm in right now. (I also have a Type 3 full sink if that changes you answer....) Thanks
