Regular DE shaver here. I was curious, do you use the no pressure tecnique like with A de razor or can you cheat a little with that Prood razor?
Hi there. Not the most helpful answer but I'd say somewhere in between. The pivoting head keeps the angle good so you can press a little harder. Pretty hard to nick yourself. So yes, I'd be much gentler with a DE. Cheers for the comment
like 55 here
Interesting take. I just received this razor for Christmas. I think you're supposed to engage the pivot at the start of the pass for the closest shave. Otherwise you'll get a less efficient shave. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Yes, the pivot helps keep the head in the right plane for sure. It's very flexible so does this by itself. Thanks ! And great Christmas present ! Cheers
SUPPLY razors don’t use a half DE blade. They use a proprietary injector style blade. I will NEVER buy a razor that uses proprietary blades.
Yes. I did know that. Just let it slip. And I must say that I couldn't agree more. Don't want anyone holding me to ransom. Cheers !
Hope ur well, just had a excellent shave from a Wilkinson sword Xtreme 3 on offer £2.75 for 4+2 after watching another wet shaver video. Cheers🍻 th-cam.com/video/pGZ_vNz7Zzs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VkyJ_3UW7sDGOXYY
I have been shaving with a direct edge safety razor the past year but have been tempted to try this to cut down my shaving time from 10 mins to quick in the shower. If I only shave 2x a week, every 4 days or so, will that be too much for a cartridge razor like this? I have no clogging problems with my Yates 921 safety razor.
I think it should cope ok. Especially if you soften your beard in a hot shower. It's a pretty capable blade. Let me know how you get on
Hello Sharp ! Have you used all the scent ? Which are the one that you’ve tried? And which are the best
I've tried them all I think. My least fave is coconut. My preference is Limes by a long way. It's so fresh. Sandalwood is a decent 2nd
Try a foil shaver if you get a chance as they tend to get closer than a rotary and are more close to using a wet razor.
Thanks. That's good to know. I'll try and find one to see
Thanks for reviewing it.
Thanks for the thanks !
It does not shave well and it drags a lot on my face
Interesting. Was ok for me but needed some effort and a few passes
Thanks for the info. Was it pre cancer ?like showed POSB or straight up cancer .I'm 56 thanks again
Hi Peter. I had no symptoms at all. My PSA was a bit up. 6 months later still a bit up. Biopsy found 13 of 20 samples were cancerous. Prostate removed a week later. I'm lucky. Unlike Chris Hoy and many others who don't catch it early. So I'm a bit evangelical now about getting a PSA test done. It's a simple blood test. Please ask your doc for one.
Glad you’re doing well. Nice looking razor.
Thanks. Yes. It's a cracker. Really neat design. Lovely razor.
You might have the coolest channel name on youtube! Great video my friend
Ha. Very kind. Look sharp, feel sharp. Need a good razor for that.... Thanks for the comment. Appreciated
Awesome review
Thanks! Appreciate the comment. Cheers
Glad to hear your well👌How would u compare this razor to other single edge razors that u have used so far? Cheers 🍻
Cheers DD. I really like the pivoting head. It is a less aggressive shave than say the Leaf Twig. It's a really cracking shave though and so easy.
Good to be back!! I enjoy using the Gillette Labs, however its cartridges are bloody expensive. I tend to go back to Gillette Blue 3 as a daily razor as is gets the job done with a close shave for a fraction of the cost. Cheers!
Yes, bloody expensive and not that much better. Using razor blades snapped in half is SO CHEAP !! The cheapest option by far.
Glad to see u back and glad they detected it quickly
Cheers. Yeah. One of the lucky ones :-)
Wishing you well with your health, and great advice for chaps of a certain age! Your videos have been missed!
Thanks !! Yep. Get that test done and don't shy away from it. Probably saved my life.
Our bodies are so fragile - glad you are better
Hell yeah. Seize the day. Enjoy each shave !! 😀
Happy to hear you detected it early!
Yeah. Thanks. Bloody lucky.
Good video
Thanks. It's a great razor. Cheers

I don’t have very much luck with DE razors as I tend to end up with a lot of nicks and cuts, especially around the neck. So any idea if the twig is a more safe option?
Have a look at the video I've just done on the Proof. I think this might be a good option for you. Great razor and I had no nicks. Nice and mild and easy to use.
We use these kinds of razers for pubic hairs only.
You can get a decent set of safety razor, blades, brush and soap for $50. Then all you need to get are more blades once you run out. You can buy those for $0.10 each if you buy them in packets of 100 blades. You will come out ahead in less than a year vs disposable razors set up.
You suite your beard m8
Anything new on the horizon? have you got round to trying a open comb razor yet?
Hi DD. Good to hear from you. I've been testing an American single edge for the last few weeks. Quite a goodie to review. This weekend ...
As for open comb. No. Need to. I've also bought a cutthroat to try out at some point
@@sharpshaves Still awaiting new razor shave review🤔
Sorry. But have a good excuse. Plan to do it today. Cheers for the nudge
I have the Proglide Power. It glides and feels better with the vibration on.
I tried the Power Glide and it is very very good. I wet my face with water and soap, let that stay on for about five minutes, then shave with a little gillette foam. The best shave I have ever have. Gillette should do a commercial with me, although so many ladies would only sigh that there is a special beast they can not hope to meet.
lol... ahy awesome, man.......... I have a tender face and neck skin and shaving with those blades from forty/fifty years ago, two days in a row was damn awful. it made my skin follicles bleed. These five blade shavers are so good.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, that's why they were invented. So easy to use. No nicks. No blades to deal with.
@@sharpshaves Greetings, I just trimmed the sides of my head with cheap imitation Gillette's, which are somewhat blunt, like a used Gillette.
Superb demo
Thanks !
This razor feels better than Gillette Vector which is costlier than guard.
I wish they made a Hydro 3 with the same removable reservoir for trimming, I actually removed it manually but there is still some plastic that cannot be removed...I.have been a Gilette fan and still am but, to be honest, at least in.the Hydro.3 the blades lasted longer than the Gilette premium whatever 5 or 2 blades sensitive one, and in my case almost nothing lasts more than 5 shaves, the Hydro lasted like 10 or 15 and actually I.got.bored and I.replaced it.because or that not.because the blades were not cutting anymore...
Purchased this off the back of your review thank you. Excellent close shave but still not seeing any benefit to the heat.
Hi Rob. Cheers for the comment. Yes, I think it's a bit of a gimmick really. Just as easy to dip your blade in a bowl of hot water.
Switched to Wilkinson years ago after watching the weird LGBTQ ad from gilette
Did exactly the same. And I'm gay...
Yeah. They lost a few with that world class marketing fail !
Brilliant !!!
That green bar is to help lift the hair up out of your skin. Plus to get the full benefits you'd have to use a Gillette recommended shaving cream/lotion..
He nicked himself 3ade
Yeah - it takes a bit of extra time for me and you can end up with a nick or two.
Should I buy for my dad or not..?.?.
Hi ! I honestly wouldn't. Get him the exfoliating one or a decent single edge or some Geo Trumpers shaving cream in lime. I really think the heated is a gimmick
Thanks for all your succinct and to the point videos. Great stuff. By using the Hydro 5 without shaving cream, gel, foam or soap means the blades would be cutting the hair prior to the 'goo' from the cartridge?
Thanks ! Yes - I think the cartridge lube strip is really efficient on some razors - to the point that you don't need cream. I find it quite sticky though and often seems to mix badly with shaving cream or gel - whatever you use. Thats why I'm not really a big fan. Keep the lube separate I say !
@@sharpshaves Before now I've prised them off with a Stanley knife. In particular on three blade cartridges ( invariably without a trimmer ) it makes the top blade a good hair line trimmer and for getting up close under the nose
derby black blades amazon 200 for $10 wheelchair larry
Not the best skin to demonstrate a razor to be honest, It's like shaving a piece of old leather.
Ha. Yeah. You're right. I had a tough paper round
How often do you change your razor heads?
Hmm - for this razor probably every 2 to 3 weeks
I totally agree with you on the specific categories of vibes. This comment alone makes you feel like you're shaving with an electric shaver, and it's very clever in terms of review, but it's not practical!
Yeah - it fools you into thinking it is doing something - but in reality it isn't ! Thanks for the comment
The big corporate manufacturers are driven by ever higher profits so need endless novelty to shift their products. I do use a vintage Sensor occasionally but mostly stick to my Edwin Jagger Diamond DE razor with Feather or Bic blades. Way cheaper than cartridge shaving and in a class if its own.
Yes - they have to keep people into the next greatest thing. Lots of marketing spin for sure. Old school are the best and cheapest for sure. The new single edge razors are finding a good middle ground I think. Thanks for your comment
Wats the best for shaving my head??I have found ,more blades means cleaner shave but hard to clean
Hmm - I'm not a head shaver myself but would probably try a well lubricated blade in the shower if I was - constantly rinsed and no real need for foam / gel. One with massive lube strips rather than exfoliating / others.

Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) This is by far the best razor I have used, ever. I tried Wilkinson Sword and other makes. I've tried shop own makes and they are all rubbish compared to gillette.. Expensive yes but the best shave and I get around 10 shaves out of one blade...Great vid mate
Thanks for the comment. Yes - I agree it is a cracking shave. Better than lots of the others but probably expensive too. I'm really enjoying the new single blade safety razors - they are really awesome. Different shave but has to be worth the shift I think.
I absolutely hate this razor, it cut me to smithereens. Which I haven't cut myself using my Gillette labs razors for years.. I'll be going straight back to gillette.. Expensive but they are the best
Yeah - don't blame you. Funny how some razors just don't get on with you. Cheers for the comment. You can't go wrong with something you know and trust.
