As a former Gillette Contour user, I find the Bearded Colonel razor and blades work well for me. The blades do seem sharper and last a reasonable time. Proper preparation of the skin prior to use helps considerably.

Good soap

I've used it for years. Tried gel and cream and oil but nothing beats good soap and a badger brush in my view.
