For a frame of reference: the 4.5kW output on this saw is equivalent to 6hp. The Milwaukee 20" chainsaw (2827) is 4.3kW output and 5.8hp. 70-80cc gas chainsaws are typically 5-7hp. That's Stihl MS 462 comparable, with torque approaching MS 500i territory. He isn't blowing smoke (pun intended) when he says there really are pro-grade battery chainsaws now.
Thanks for helping make the battery case! We are really eager to get one of these in the field. Seems like a pretty awesome saw!
@ Thank YOU for the great equipment review videos, product news, and glimpses into how you approach tree work. Looking forward to more!
Click bait fake news!! You make great ⚓️
How are the 2nd pants in hot weather? I have the first Gen Zeros and they just weren't durable and also pretty hot in Northern Ca. Have a hot weather recommendation?
Checkout the SIP Canopy Air Go, the new Clogger Zeros, and the new Arbortec vented pants coming out.
The 2nd gen Cloggers are way tougher.
@@RootedArborists so I bought and just received the air go pros and I found something peculiar. There is chainsaw protective material on the inside of the right calf and none on the outside(just ventilation). And then the opposite with the left. Protection on the outside but not the inside. Is this by design or did something go wrong at the factory? Are yours like this?
I guess I should have watched till the end of the video it was just the trial to work at night now I understand
And ladies and gentlemen you get your saw grabbed like that when you cut too high above your notch it's an accident sometimes it happens but case anybody is wondering God bless
You guys are that busy you have to run two shifts day and night that is absolutely crazy to me that's amazing for you guys definitely God bless
We are pretty busy, but not to the point that we are seriously looking at an evening shift. It does make you think of the possibilities though. This might be a good option for taking back some of the winter work day that we loose with little sun and extreme cold in the morning.
@RootedArborists yeah definitely that is pretty cool I think
Just curious customers obviously don't care and neighbors that you're making noise at night time when they're trying to sleep I've never heard of this I've been cutting trees for 22 years climbing I've never seen Tree Care done at night except if it was an emergency storm damage of course
It was a project we did in conjunction with the HOA. We finished all chipping before 8:00. The loading point was up the see wall out near the main road, so loading the logs on the trailer pretty quite as well. The L28 is significantly quieter than our MTOO or Vermeer 925. We also used all battery OPE, so it was a pretty quite site. The neighbors actually held viewing parties haha. Unfortunately it was to cold for them to be out on the boats!
@RootedArborists yeah that's pretty neat buddy God bless I love it
Someone got sponsored by Milwaukee.
Those lights are awesome!
They make the difference between night and day!
Hey! Is that chain the original one that comes with the saw, or did you make some changes?
That is a stock chain.
Why are American people like using numbers for everything over 200 times using numbers to explain
Prices and variety have been improving.
It sure has been a game changer!
Better too hot or without a leg.Bigger the chainsaw, better pants u need. In any case, protection is necessary. There are chainsaw speed classes for reason.
sponsored by Milwaukee, thousands in their products to showcase their professional quality, uses Husqvarna top handle even though there is a Milwaukee top handle on site lol. Well played. Cool Video. I can see legitimately using lights for doing storm damage work or special jobs with unique parameters. Thanks for including the stuck saw and pointing it out with the freeze frame. I couldn't tell if you had a notch and you just bypasses the hinge or were just doing snap/bypass cuts on those chunks. For those wondering, if doing snap/bypass cuts, avoid the chunk from grabbing your bar by having your second cut lower than your first, or another way to phrase it is have your second cut made closer to the part of the tree that will be stationary when the cut piece moves. Then if the bar gets stuck in the kerf, its on the trunk, or the part that's not moving when the piece falls. If you are using a notch, just don't cut through the hinge. I have the Milwaukee top handle. I dig it. Just got the dual battery ground saw last week. Haven't used it much yet but from what I've seen the limiting factor will be batteries on hand, not durability of the saw. Edit: And noise ordinance? Did you not chip that material or use trucks to haul out the wood while dark? Legit curious.
Thanks for the feedback! I love the Milwaukee products, but the T542i is my favorite top handle out there. The Milwaukee top handle has some serious power, but there is some room for improvement in the egos. I did have a notch, but by back cut was way high with a slight dutch on the far side. Poor poor cut! Noise ordinances in that municipality is 10:00 PM, but we wanted to make sure that all of the chipping was completed by 8:00 PM. I don't think we will implement this style of work very often, but we may for storm work, or if we are extending the day a few hours during the winter time.
@@RootedArborists right on. I've never made a poor cut in my life (massive sarcasm lol). Live and learn. Stay Safe!
Good stuff!!! Solid video work.
WOW, the quality of this video is insane. I was halve way through when I was like how many views has this video, and i was shocked when i saw it only has 98. Could have also been 1 Million
Looks like you're running more often Husky coms with a Milwaukee helmets nowadays?
They are both great, but we typically use different systems every year of review purposes. Husky Comm review coming soon! If you are wearing a Protos, then their comms are a must!
White and Olive green helmets, nice colors, which do you prefer of the 3? Do you notice a difference when working in the sun? White stay cooler?
I like the how professional white helmets look. I am not sure if I noticed a major difference in temps, but I would assume that lighter helmets wood be cooler.
How long was the Oregon bar in the saw at the end of
Joey, ,Thanks for watching! That is a 24" bar. It handled it pretty well with the 12.0 Forges. We did the entire tree with 4 12.0 Forges and 2 8.0 Forges.
@@RootedArboristsdid you convert it to 3/8 or is it a custom chain as the saw is stock with .325
That one we converted to 3/8, but the saw was a pre-production tester. The new saws have a different sprocket configuration. I believe they are working on a 24" .325 050 set up with Oregon. We will keep you posted as we here new info.
The entire time im thinking how expensive all of that battery shit is compared to gas
They’re sponsored but it would probably be like 15k+
Clogger zeros for summer. Pfanner gladiators for cold winter. The end.
That's a pretty good assessment, but the SIP Canopy Air Go's & Arbortec vented Breatheflex Pros are pretty legit for summer work. Standard Breatheflex Pros and Clogger Ascends are both solid winter options as well.
Damn! Well done guys, those lights are awesome 🔥
Thanks my friend!
Cool!!!
Very cool! Nice drone footage!
Thanks, we think so too! The drone really helps give the scale of these trees. Crash risk is pretty rough though!
Nice work! Excellent film work in the dark too. That always particularly tough.
Whattt!!!!?
seams like bat saws are getting there. That ash is hard. But my 462 would eat that thing. There is No way that can stand up to the power of the 462. And i put a uni filter and bark box and a Full chissle chain and full skip. Hard to compare to a 70cc. And to be honest 50cc saws are NOT cutting up dead ash trees up here in NH... They are 22 24 inches and a 50cc saw even a 60 wont have the snot to deal with that tree. I own them.... Yes they will work but your asking TOO much. The 462 will handle that work and ask for more....
On top of him, not pushing hard on the 500 eye. It's unfair to use a large saw on a small piece of wood.Cause you can't take advantage of the torque
Is there a headlamp slot in the front. If there is how wide is it?
Hey Andy. I too am between sizes. What size do you wear in Clogger Defender Pro and SIP Canopy Air Go?
Hey man, I wear Large in SIP and a M in Clogger!
Battery saws are awesome. I own a 40 acre timber stand and am always cutting leaners, storm damaged, and diseased trees. I also cut 4 or 5 cords of firewood a year. I have a wall of chain saws, 3 of which are electric. I have a Milwaukee hatchet that I use for pruning. I like its convenience especially up in trees. That is where battery saws rule the day. The hatchet has an awkward trigger that I hate so I am happy they went with a traditional trigger for this saw. My current goto saw, that lives on the skidder/tractor and on the logging winch is a gen 1 echo 16" 56v saw. It was the best saw at the time but has flaws that all new battery saws have corrected (like plastic dogs). I hate having to grab the 460 magnum 32" saw. It is a work horse, but I am 70 with some arthritis so starting it and felling with it is a task I dread. So, I am in the market for a new battery saw, in the 20" range. Looking at this Milwaukee (have lots of M18 tools), the greenworks 82v commercials, ego 5000, and of course the msa300.
I would go Milwaukee, but the greenworks HAWG is pretty legit as well.
Wait there not connected with Sena???
Unfortunately they do not pair with Sean.
That saw is dull I can tell if someone has enough experience or skill by the way they start a chainsaw There is no way the pole saw could beat a well maintained 500i
Yeah, but it’s done after that cut or at least the next cut.
The problem with batteries is we wont have electricity forever 😅
No electric, no refineries, no 2 cycle...Back to the Axe
Great video guys, I have been agonizing about getting a new chainsaw and this one has my attention. I already have Milwaukee M18 tools and had not thought about a electric chainsaw until this AM. I'm 82 and my 056 Stihl is getting hard to start, it has been a dream to buck with, the only saw I've had that would saw threw a pinch most of the time and I really hate to give it up. Maybe I'll give it to some young fellow like you who doesn't know his own strength.. I don't saw that often and this battery operated saw would solve a lot of problems about getting the saw going. It looks like it would pair up well with my arborist saw for trimming. Thanks for the comparison/pros and cons Gents !
Thanks Lever! Keep ripping. If you get ready to let go of the 056, let us know. We would love to give it a second career!
@@RootedArborists The O56 is heavier than my new Milwaukee and I am amused at the comments of pros and cons where someone says "the wt. of the Milwaukee is a con or a 'slight con', it's none at all to me. Now if I had to carry it a hundred yards I guess that I might complain, LOL, same with the O56. My repair man, Greg, is a gorilla and can pick up my saw and start it like it was an arborist light wt. saw. I never was that strong. I'm a part time farmer who used to fell trees and buck them up for firewood but I burn oil now, and don't trust my chimney. Greg put me a new piston in and it is tough to pull especially since I don't need it but once a year or so. I have a new bar and a couple of good chains on it. My son could run it but he lives in town and seldom uses one. Lighter saws thrive on speed but this big saw lugs and the weight is a plus when bucking. It was a 'godsend' back in the 80's at Charleston when I used it at my wife's uncle's place after Hugo. His massive oaks had huge pancake root balls on them and I washed them off and cut them into pieces that we could carry to the street in a wheelbarrow. This is a good saw that should go on taking care of people. Not trying to sell it just reminiscing in WNC. Have always loved splitting wood.....🙂 The farm is my gym....
Im a contractor with Milwaukee fuel tools. So i do not mind having more batterys for me i think this saw is amazing value duel perpose...jobsite and chainsaw work
"Back pocket on zeros will not come" 👀 Lets see a review on the new zero ultra!
lol that 500i cuts way faster then that lol.
Dose this saw leak oil like the previous single battery Milwaukee? Also could you show the bar mount/sprocket setup on this saw?
Just got mine in? Super easy pairing two but the third will not pair. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I’ve contacted Husqvarna but that hasn’t been any help unfortunately. If you have any suggestions on how to pair the 3rd set that would be awesome!
I just like not having to deal w gas oil mix and the fact that battery is gonnabe used by now than just a chainsaw
Try it on a 4 foot stump..
As soon as I can afford it I’m gonna put the money towards a 462
Chains blunt on the 500i
Picking mine up today!! time to see what this hype is all about
I'm a contract climber myself, have a fire breathing ported 200t, 201TC, yadda yadda. They sit on the shelf now that I have the Milwaukee top handle saw. 2 years in and it's been absolutely flawless. I have ×2 12AH batteries and they are plenty for a days work. It DID replace my gas climbing saw. Took a bit to get used to, mainly trying to choke it or pull start it 😂 but yeah battery stuff is here and I'm here for it.
Dawg iv been cutting wood for 16 to 37 my 391 rips get out my face😂
Why not cut normal pieces of firewood!
