That raptor looks pretty sweet. It's a great idea for manufacturers to offer an entry level saddle and a flagship saddle. It's really tough for me to recommend a $800 saddle to a fella who just wants to get started climbing. I'm glad good manufacturers are interested in helping grlundies get off of the ground.
I 100% agree! I think the barrier on entry for new climbers can be overwhelmingly expensive. We should get together and curate a couple of lists based on regional needs for new climbers.
I've watched this video 4 times and still cant decide between the rex or raptor. Ughhh, Can you hook up old school weaver suspenders to the tree rex like the guy wearing the raptor has in the video? I don't want give up my suspenders because they are a life saver , Nor do I want to run the bungee setup. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Sorry for the late response! You can definitely run the elastic weaver suspenders on the TreeRex. The weaver suspenders are my absolute favorite toppers. I just wish they had a better SRT chesty integrated in.
We have worn them both a pretty good deal, and I would definitely steer you to the Tree Rex. More features for the money. I would never purchase a saddle without thigh rings.
I climb with the Tree Rex. I like it a lot. But the Edelrid suspenders are garbage. I run the Monkey Beaver 2.0 suspenders. They are a much better suspender.
Thanks for this comprehensive review! 😃
Thanks for letting us run some great gear!
Just purchased a TreeRex. Best review out there. Thank you.
Thank you man this review helped alot
Great review, thanks

Could you provide the name and source of the wide "CMI California Swivel" on your saddle?
I got it at Wesspur. It is the California Swivel made by CMI.
I can't find you on other social media ...do you have another platform?
Check out #rootedarborists on IG and TickTock!
I dont like the buckles and the lower D rings are way to small. But they upgraded them on the new treerex2
I totally agree. I got to check out the new version at Expo last month. We are pretty excited to give it a go.
Been looking at the trees rex.......and weaver stratus as new saddle for hotter days monkey beaver gets hot 🔥 in June August
