A Total Refutation of Jehovah's Witnesses on Christ's Resurrection
The central proclamation of Christianity is that God raised Jesus from the dead physically, leaving an empty tomb behind him. However, Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that. Instead, they believe Jesus was only raised spiritually and that Jehovah disposed of Jesus's physical body. These are two very different understandings of one of the most essential doctrines of the faith. In this video we'll look at both sides and answer some of the most common arguments put forward by the Watchtower!
For several of my points, I'm indebted to some excellent resources, linked below...

Did Jesus Die on a Cross or Stake? (Sharing the Gospel With Jehovah's Witnesses)

Christians believe that Jesus died on a cross and that his death guarantees eternal life to all his followers. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus died on a stake and that his death only gives us the opportunity to have eternal life. This leads them naturally to a works-based salvation, as opposed to a grace-based salvation. Which one is right? Who has the true Gospel? In this video, we'll l...

    Part 1. Some Trinitarian scholars allow their theology to over-ride sound grammatical sense, such as Wallace in his NT Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics and try, and by what can only be described as grammatical sleight of hand arguments, to seperate the main verb from its complement. But where then is the subject or main clause for πρὶν ᾿Αβραὰμ γενέσθαι? To seperate ἐγὼ εἰμί from its complement is to totally distort the part the expression plays in the whole sentence. If ἐγὼ εἰμί is a separate part, there would be no subject or main verb to go with 'before Abraham came to be'. Separating ἐγὼ εἰμί off as if it were meant to be independent is an interpretive sleight-of-hand argument, and as said, totally distorts the part the phrase plays in the whole sentence. It is an attempt to exclude John 8.58 as a place where we see an example of a durative present or a PPA, that is, a 'present of past action', or an 'extension of past present', as this type of contruct is called. The reason why some ardent Trinitarians do this is because they want to continue to link what we read in their ungrammatical translatons of John 8.58 with certain sayings YHWH said of himself in the OT LXX. So their attempt to exclude what is a definite durative present or a PPA in John 8.58 is a theologically driven one.

    • @brucebarnard
      @brucebarnard 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Part 2. Better to heed scholars such as Kenneth Mckay, who quite rightly excepts ἐγὼ εἰμί as an example of, what he terms an 'extension of past present.' See A New Syntax of the Verb in New Testament Greek, New York: Peter Lang, 1994. Or Smyth's Greek Grammar, section 1885 which description fits what one see in John 8.58 "The present when accompanied by a definite or indefinite past time, is used to express an action that begun in the past and continued to the present. The progressive perfect is often used in translation." Regarding "πρὶν ᾿Αβραὰμ γενέσθαι". The word πρὶν here is an adverb, "before" and is here expressing time, hence this clause is an adverbial expression of time and with εἰμί which is stative(not an action) and imperfective, is one of duration of existence. To put it another way. We have here a temporal marker, an adverbial expression of time clause, the clause "before Abraham was born," which is an adverbial clause modifying the main verb εἰμί. It provides a fixed time in the past, to which the main verb is coordinated; in other words, the action or state of the main verb is relative in time to that marker.

    • @brucebarnard
      @brucebarnard 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Part 3. Hence, the Greek of John 8.58 is a clear instance of a 'present of past action still in progress." * Other examples in John are 14.9 and 15.27. The NWT Reference edition of 1984 cites two grammarians showing that John 8.58 fits this idiom, which I here quote: "Concerning this construction, A Grammar of the Idiom of the New Testament, by G. B. Winer, seventh edition, Andover, 1897, p. 267, says: “Sometimes the Present includes also a past tense (Mdv. 108), viz. when the verb expresses a state which commenced at an earlier period but still continues,-a state in its duration; *John* . xv. 27 ἀπʼ ἀρχῆς μετʼ ἐμοῦ ἐστέ [apʼ ar·khesʹ metʼ e·mouʹ e·steʹ], *viii. 58* πρὶν ᾿Αβραὰμ γενέσθαι ἐγὼ εἰμι [prin A·bra·amʹ ge·neʹsthai e·goʹ ei·mi].”Likewise, A Grammar of New Testament Greek, by J. H. Moulton, Vol. III, by Nigel Turner, Edinburgh, 1963, p. 62, says: “The Present which indicates the continuance of an action during the past and up to the moment of speaking is virtually the same as Perfective, the only difference being that the action is conceived as still in progress . . . It is frequent in the N[ew] T[estament]: Lk 213. . . 15. . . *Jn 58* . . . ”- end of quote. It is interesting that the New American Standard Version in its earlier printings contained a marginal note to it's translation of John 8.58, "....I am", but in said note states "Or , I have been". Exactly how the NWT and others have translated ἐγὼ εἰμί here. A very recent translation of the NT, The Source New Testament (TSNT) by Greek scholar, Dr. Ann Nyland has for John 8.58: "I have been in existence since before Abraham was born". The Source New Testament with Extensive Notes on Greek Word Meaning contains abundant and detailed documentation for the meaning of hundreds of Greek words which appear in the New Testament. The Source is the only N.T. translation based on word meaning evidence from the recently discovered papyri and inscriptions. For centuries, translators had to guess the meaning of hundreds of N.T. words. After 1976, huge numbers of papyri and inscriptions were discovered containing these N.T. words in everyday documentation, thus revealing their meaning. The Source is the only New Testament translation by a Classical Greek scholar (rather than theologian) and not financed or translated by a committee of a specific denomination.

    JWs believe what the Bible teaches and the *Bibles definitions* are. Yes JWs DO believe in the resurrection of Jesus. First of all if you want to critique JWs do so with our modern literature not publications from nearly 70 years ago and longer. John 2 posses no challenge for us. It is simple and clear when ALL of the Bible is taken in context not one item on it's own Yes JWs do believe in the Biblical definition of deity so we understand the deity of Jesus. The Biblical definition is different to trinitarian definition. NO where does the Bible teach the immortality of the soul. The soul IS the body (Genesis 2:7) all animals ARE souls (Gen 1:21; 2:19) Every breathing thing is a soul (Genesis 9:10'12) "I will raise it up." Jesus could speak of doing so in a prophetic sense. Because of the his faithful life course and dyeing without sin he could prophetically say that he, himself had the authority to be resurrected. The wording of what is recorded after his resurrection by the inspired writers, shows that he did not raise himself. These inspired witters all use language that shows that someone else raised Jesus. No one records that Jesus raised himself as they would have if that had happened. Jesus did not literally and psychically raise himself from the dead. The father (who alone is God) raised Jesus. Now when the accounts of people seeing Jesus after his resurrection are read *_CARE FULLY,_* one soon learns that Jesus appeared in different bodies. That is becase he was raised as a life givng spirit (1 Cor 15:45; 1 Tim 3:16) A body of flesh needs blood. Flesh can not be sustauned without it. (Leviticus 17:11) . . .For the life of the flesh is in the blood,. . . Jesus perfectly represents Adam and what Adam had lost. For the ransom sacrifices to be of value, a perfect MAN had to die to balance the scales of justice because ALL of Gods ways are just

      The GB would be proud of this sophistry. Consider your oft repeated statement that your adherents take the whole bible into account (sic). The implication is that others don't. That is a presumptious standpoint to adopt. Based on what? Christianity is a monotheistic religion. The acceptance of the trinity is implicit in the biographies and letters of the NT. Gnostic thinking is not Christian thinking. Christians don't worship or do homage to anyone except God. And that should be apparent in all their statements of faith.

      @@watchtowerdefence571 so what you’re saying is that following his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his closest followers in different bodies with different appearances…and he did this to prove to them that it was really him? It’s truly amazing to me that Jesus can literally say verbatim that HE will raise HIMSELF from the dead, but then Jehovah’s witnesses will come along and say he didn’t. That’s a dead give-away that they don’t care what the Bible says. They only care what the Watchtower says and will always side with that, no matter how badly it contradicts Holy Scripture plainly written right in front of their faces

      @@phillipsugwas The idea that JWs take the whole Bible into account is based on the idea that other religions do not. They take a text here and there and do not consider what the rest of the Bible says. That is obvious from this video. That affect their views on what the soul is what hell is who or what God is and who or what Jesus is etc. Other religions who claim to be followers of Jesus start in the New Testament _(the Greek scriptures)_ and come to conclusions as to what the Bible is about. Then they try to fit what the early part of the Bible says into their flawed conclusions as to what Jesus taught. Jesus based what he taught on what is commonly called the Old Testament _(the Hebrew scriptures)._ If one wants to truly understand what Jesus taught, one MUST start in Genesis and come forward. Build a foundation of the Bible is about. From Genesis we start to learn who God is, why his purpose for the mankind is, why Jesus had to come, why Jesus could not be a “God man” but fully human, that there is no immorality of the soul nor a fiery hell etc. When we have a solid foundation to work with, all of what Jesus taught falls into place. The Bible is one harmonious book. Most religions who call themselves Christian worship Jesus as God and that is heretical, blasphemous idea. Jesus never taught he was God nor did he teach he was equal to God. Jesus had a God and worshipped a God. That God is his father.

      @@johnhelms1485 Basically yes. Jesus can not take on his human body again. He took on different appearances. Mary thought he was the gardener. (John 20:15). When the apostates were out fishing they did not recognise Jesus staging on the beach by sight but by word (John 21:4). He appeared to them to show that he had been raised up even though it was a spiritula body 1 Corinthians 15:44 “It is sown a natural body; it is *raised a spiritual body. *If there is a natural body, there *is also a spiritual body.”* (ESV) The sacrificial death of Jesus was modelled on the scarifies that the Jews gave. The blood that was the life of the flesh (Leviticus 17:10-14) had to be poured out. Once a year the high priest had to enter the Holy of Hollies to present a blood sacrifice before Jehovah _(The God of Israel and Jesus)_ (Hebrews 10:1-5) When Jesus died the curtain to that Holy of Hollies was torn apart Matthew 27:51 "And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split." (NASB) The old way of offering sacrifices was finished. Jesus is now the high priest Because blood is considered to be equivalent to life instead of being condemned because one broke Jehovah’s commandments, a repentant sinner in ancient Israel could offer an animal sacrifice on God’s altar. (Leviticus 4:27-31) This sacrifice atoned for his sins but only in a provisional way. Blood sacrifices had to offered often because animal blood (life) was not the equivalent of mans blood (life) As used in the Bible, “atonement” conveys the thought of “exchange” or “cover,” as the right lid, for example, would properly cover a container. Of course, no animal could perfectly “cover,” or atone for, the sins of a human. Animal sacrifices did, however, provide a shadow of the perfect atonement sacrifice to come. (Hebrews 10:1- 4.) That atonement was provided “through the *offering of the body of Jesus Christ* once for all time. .” (Hebrews 10:10 [NASB]) It was not just the blood of Jesus. It was his BODY as well. Christ’s perfect human life, represented by his “precious blood (Leviticus 17:10-14), like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb,” corresponded exactly to the life that Adam lost. (1 Peter 1:19) Thus, in an exquisitely beautiful and loving way, perfect justice was satisfied and our “everlasting deliverance” was made possible.-Hebrews 9:11, 12; John 3:16; Revelation 7:14. How could Jesus offer up his body ONCE FOR ALL TIME, and the take that same body back again? One can iot pat of an item and keep that item and demand your money back. If want tour many back you give back the item. Jesus was raised as a spirit. Humans have a fleshly body. Heavenly beings have a different sort of body 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 “So also it is written: “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING PERSON.” The last Adam was a *life-giving spirit.* 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly one, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. (NASB)

    DISCLAIMER: This post was first made with the error that Seth did not deal with the updated JW position. Because the video unfairly dealt with that position in literally the last 3 minutes which I did not watch on the first posting, I assumed that it did not treat with it at all. Since I have publicly retracted those statements, and that thread became cluttered with persons dealing with a fringe element and not commenting on John 2 and Luke 24, I have decided to delete the errant earlier post . DISCLAIMER: I'm removing the words 'deceptive' from my view of the video. While I still hold that it was unfair to wait until the last 3 minutes for Seth to treat with the JW position, I do not have sufficient evidence to assert that he did so out of malicious intent. Seth's first 'proof' text at John 2 states Jesus himself will raise up the 'temple', i.e. his body. Yet Seth concedes at the 5:50 timestamp that "the father also has a hand in raising Jesus up" even though the text clearly states Jesus said "I". Seth even circles this "I" yet the father has a hand, effectively disqualifying his own proof text. Essentially this text proves nothing as it is not to be taken literally. In Seth's second proof text at Luke 24 the disciples believe they are seeing a spirit. Why? Not because they are seeing a ghost Seth. They are seeing a physical man but they know Jesus has died so to them this must be a spirit come back to life. At this point Seth COMPLETELY SHIFTS THE GOALPOST. The real question is not whether Jesus was resurrected bodily- he was. The real question is whether JESUS RETURNED TO HEAVEN AS A MAN. After all, even the angels in the time of Noah materialised physical bodies but when the flood came returned to heaven with heavenly bodies. I will deal with this question in a different post for the sake of brevity.

      John 2:19 *is* to be taken literally because only two verses it clarifies that the temple being referred to is Christ’s *body* in reference to his resurrection. That literally happened “as he said” (Matthew 28:6).

    • @universalman5861
      @universalman5861 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @johnhelms1485 Thanks for being the first person to respond to the actual content of John 2. You are indeed correct that the temple in reference to his body is literal. Maybe I should have been more precise in underscoring that the expression "I will raise it up" is not to be taken literally. As Seth has indicated in the video the father 'has a hand' in raising Christ up. My view is that he (the father) not only 'has a hand' but it is the father alone who raises christ up. In John 2, Jesus places the agency on himself to raise himself up. In both our interpretations that "I" is not strictly referring to christ hence not to be taken literally.

    I find the account of Lazarus in John 11 explains it best. Lazarus was raised and walked out of the very tomb he was laid in; wearing the very wrappings he had been clothed in. Jesus told the people to unwrap him. Why would this account be explained this way if Jesus resurrection was to be as a spirit person? Jesus was showing them that he could resurrect people back to their original selves having been healed. It was a miracle he was using to show the people he truly was the Son of God. He proved this to his disciples when he himself walked out of the tomb in which he was laid. Later being transformed into a spiritual body when he rose to heaven. We know this can happen because 1 Thes 4:17 describes people, who are living, being caught away in the clouds to meet the Lord. God is capable of anything and everything! Again I quote John 20:29 “Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

    Good on you, universalman. Seth’s use of an antiquated document “Studies in the Scriptures” without any caveats is not cricket, as the English say. He does not even explain properly what happened to Jesus’ body. Did he go to heaven with it, or did he leave it on the Earth. And, pray tell, what happened to Moses’ body when he died? And his explanation as to why Jesus was not recognised when he returned from the dead is unconvincing. For example, did Mary Magdalene not recognise Jesus’ voice? Oh yes, it was probably TOO DARK for her to recognise his voice. Ha! These explanations are so weak, and I am really surprised how people who comment on his video seem to have very scant knowledge of Jehovah’s Witnesses’ beliefs. Of course, Jehovah’s Witnesses are an easy target, because all their beliefs are clearly set out in searchable publications that are readily available online, whereas it would be quite impossible to find a coherent belief among Protestant churches, such is the total confusion that reigns among them. Seth is a very nice guy, and I am sincerely convinced that he is well-meaning, but he fails to convince me in this case, especially when he claims that the VERY widely used expression “raised IN the spirit“ (1 Peter 3:18) is NOT the majority translation of that expression, but that in his church they use the rarely used expression “raised BY the spirit”, which he doesn’t even bother to explain.. I am quite surprised at the poor quality of this exegesis. And Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be experts at exegesis. The only claim they can make is that they preach the basic gospel message, which is the kingdom of God. Jehovah’s Witnesses preach a lot, so they don’t have the time to engage in exegetical “inutiae”, as one pundit commented, and that is not by any means their speciality. Generally speaking, they certainly don’t have the time to study God’s word in a cozy library all day, like Bart Erman. And I would go so far as to suggest that if so-called Christians are not prepared to go out joyfully in inclement weather and sacrifice their time, energy and money to preach the gospel like Jesus did and talk about the kingdom of God like Jehovah’s Witnesses do, in other words to love people to the point that it hurts, they should think twice before they criticise Jehovah’s Witnesses about their particular exegesis. Yes, everyone can see that Jehovah’s Witnesses do what they do out of love, and not to get brownie points. If a church that calls itself Christian is not prepared to preach the good news, using the holy spirit, then why would God reward it with a correct understanding of the word of God?

(*All scripture must be fulfilled* ) It is the Hebrew of what was translated as *similitudes* in Hosea 12:10. KJV. Damahs are hidden (Proverbs 25:2) *prophetic, parallel foreshadowing's* (like Jonah 1:17. & Matthew 12:40.) With that in mind, after Yeshua had Risen, but before He was Reconciled with His Father, why did He meet with two of His disciples while they were on their way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13 - 27.), and why wasn’t He recognized by His “brothers” until, He had “broken bread” with them, (Luke 24:30, 31.)? What was fulfilled there? Well, just as Joseph (who was sent by “God to Preserve Life”) provided “Spiritual knowledge” to “us” by being a “type” of Messiah, prior to being “recognized” by his “brothers” when he had broken bread and given them earthly nutrition, before Joseph was reconciled with Jacob, his father… …Yeshua, (who was sent by “God to Preserve Life”), provided “Spiritual knowledge” to His “brothers” by being the Messiah, prior to being “recognized” by His “brothers” when He had broken bread and had given them earthly nutrition, before Yeshua was Reconciled with YHVH God, His father too. Thank you, Seth. I am glad for this series. It has been beneficial and would help many too. I am Bro Chima, a Nigerian, but resident in the UK. Some years ago, in 2007 to be precise I was somewhere waiting on the Lord, for baptism in the Holy Ghost. It was accompanied by fasting and prayer. On the 12th of a certain month, I had this glorious experience. That blessed morning, I woke up with this electric spasm of joy overflowing my heart. I wondered while jerked up from my sleep: Is this it? Oh is this it? It was a beautiful morning. On the 14th of that month, while continuing my fasting and prayer, my eyes were opened and I saw three male-like figures all dressed in black swiftly jump into my room. Simultaneously, I had a voice that firmly said: Collect that Bible from him. All hell broke loose. I entered into this tormenting darkness. I could read several chapters of the Bible with joy in one day. But afterwards, it took me several hours to read a single chapter (I recall Genesis chapter 1), with fiery sweat all over my body. I had gone out as a "missionary", trusting God to use me to bring a mighty revival to a local community popular for witchcraft. But now, I started doubting the Bible. Oh, it was hellish. I was fiery with preaching and could kneel for hours in sweet communion with the Lord. But things changed. Preaching looked like Pharoah's chariot in the Red Sea. I lack words to describe that hellish encounter. But, one thing was central: These spirits were well versed in the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses doctrines. They were knowledgeable and could literarily teach and give the same understanding a witness would give for what they teach. So one of those days, I said come on, you said the Holy Ghost is an impersonal force, but you are not an impersonal being, and you are supposed to be the Holy Ghost. That was how their hold started cracking gradually. You see, the denial of the death of Christ on the cross, for instance, was instigated by these spirits. They hate the sight of the cross or the mention of it. It was a battle with a legion of hell and you could see everything that makes for their defeat by the gospel, craftily denied by the Jehohah's Witnesses Org. They hate their eternal fate in hell and could disdain one for believing that is their eternal destiny. And for Jesus, the man they claimed died forever? That is their wish and that is what they teach these captives of theirs. Of the present legion of spirits released from hell in this age, the spirit ( a strong man indeed) of the Watch Tower Society would play a critical role in overthrowing the faith of many and their subsequent destruction in hell. Beyond these videos, believers must learn to bind those forces and limit their operations here, on earth. With prayers, their progress can be impeded, and the truth of the gospel given liberty to reach the souls of many. And for you, a JWORG member, with all the earnestness of soul, by the mercy of Jesus, your God, who you have been taught to hate, seek the truth, and the Lord will come to your salvation. I have been since then an intercessor. Meeting these demons is not easy, but God will see us through.

    There is a perfect explanation of why the JW's believe Jesus was spiritually resurrected... All you have to do is look back at Charles Russell's books... If I'm not mistaken I believe the plan of ages and also the finished mystery had embroidered on the front of the book the winged disc Sun God... Which was a symbol of Osiris... In fact there are old pictures of his assembly Halls that had that symbol above the stage... Charles taze Russell was enthralled in the Egyptian pyramids and the Egyptian culture... If you look up Osiris he was chopped up in 14 pieces and his wife isis found 13 pieces and put them back together so therefore he was not physically resurrected but instead spiritually resurrected to the spirit realm... Do no become a JW. They are not Christian. They may appear to have all the answers but most of their doctrine come from picking out random verses which seem to say one thing whilst completely ignoring other passages. The leadership is the god of the JW. “Jehovah” is actually the watchtower

      As a former Jehovahs witness, please I caution you, do not join them. They hold their watchtower and governing body higher than the scriptures. They will very deceitfully tell you what the bible "really teaches" through cherry-picked verses that get explained by their literature instead of letting the bible explain the bible. Please pray on this and earnestly seek God's direction. God bless.

    You are certainly welcome to believe and profess whatever you want to believe, there are plenty of differing beliefs in the world today based on the Bible. But to glean this from the historically decidedly Catholic Trinitarian book is just plain silly… History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, - the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, - the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century and ONLY the 27 books, - not only did they not agree but their individual lists of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. Therefore, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church, guided by the Holy Spirit, that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 4th century, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved these scriptures by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself? Peace!!!

    Hey brother, I hope you are well. I'd like to share another treasure from the bible. Concerning this topic of devastation, there are a few observations I have. The first thing to address is the leadership of this group. Yes, they have failed many times, as sinful men do. However, I cannot escape the level of shame I feel for them as they indeed act as though they could actually fulfill prophecy. As far as the scriptures say, only one person can fulfil prophecy. They have indeed misinterpreted Matthew 24:45 (from their incorrection) “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?" We see that they have created a distinct class of people from this text. To no surprise they have superimposed themselves in this position. Would it not be a wonder if Jesus himself would set this straight... my dear brother in the faith let us marvel once more at the truth of the matter. John 15:15 "I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, because I have made known to you all the things I have heard from my Father." "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Amen.

    Day is not the same as 24 hours, not in the past and not today. The earth is not about 6,000 years old and the Bible does not teach this. Hebrews 4:9-10: "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." This tells us that the 7th day Each believer are to enter into day 7. Also there no "evening and morning" for the 7th day. As day 7 as not ended. Biblical Hebrew has a limited vocabulary, with fewer words compared to other languages, such as English or Spanish. This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context. Day - yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, but the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans thus literally is: Sunrise to sunset Sunset to next sunset Time period of unspecified length. (long time span ). We use the word day the same today: In my grandfather’s day cars did not go very fast. I work the day shift. (Both are not 24 hours) Deuteronomy 33:15 and Habakkuk 3:6 "ancient mountains". Gen 2:4 “in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens” referring to the whole time of the six days, The events of day 6 can not have happened in 24 hours. Creationism does not equal young Earth. There are many Old Earth creationists.

    Like many of restorationist or protestantism movements JWs contrast themselves with the Catholic Church as the direct opposite to the truth. Try to see that topic from their view. Reading the New Testament start to end, is there any mention 1st century christians used cross. No. So it is not important if Jesus died on cross, stake, X, T or anything else. The gospel is about Jesus sacrificed his life not on what shape of wood Jesus died. You are right it matters for JWs as an organisation, but I can tell you, that the new generations more or less do not care. The millennials or younger will tell: it might be a cross, yet even it was a cross does it make a reason to put it on my neck, our buildings, inner home walls and bow in front of it? They are right in that view. Also, I bet catholics would be as crazy about the cross as well as the older JWs generations. So I am telling you if you as a non-catholic christian face a younger JW generation, you will just loose time by rising cross topic in order to wake them up from a cult indoctrination. But well done to reveal the misinterpretations, miscitations and lying about the sources of authority. JWs do it notoriously everywhere. But believe me, the rank and file members do not know about it. Use this argument a lot, but pick a better topic.

    Do you agree that Paul made "ministerial servants" (Deaconos) in congregations both from man and woman? Rom 16:1 Can you show me from your bible why a female is forbidden to be a "ministerial servant" in JWorg church?

    I like that you have baptisms in your church and that ou encourage others even kids to preach the gospel (good news). Bible tells about thousands of baptised. and describes the process fro hearing the good news for 1st time up to baptism of the person. Could you please show me in your bible: - that in order to get baptised the person has to get a title "unbaptised publisher" 1st? - that in order to get the "UP" title person has to study your publications, and pass an exam with 2 elders? - that after a person get the "UP" status, the person has to spend preaching door to door sever months, each month, and than can ask to be baptised? - that a PB after months of preaching needs to pass an exam with elders to be approved to get baptised? - that a christian baptism means to "to devote yourself to Jehovah"? - that a true christian baptism means to be baptised by Jehovahs Witnesses only? ...

    1st, let me thank you for your ending words, labelling JWs as victims trapped in a cult. Most of rank & file JWs (not the hierarchy) are very kind people. Even your motivations to help them are a bit different than me (I am agnostic) I admire your zeal to help them get free. But please, accept advice from the exJW community. I understand that most of the christians and especially evangelicals believe that the best way to wake up a cultist it to preach the true gospel. And to argument about Trinity, Divinity of Jesus etc... you know what I mean. Please do not. Why? 1st, It is like stealing their most precious friend . Most of them really have a relationship with a god called Jehovah. Like you do with Trinity/Jesus. If an atheist would try to steal that idea from you would you listen to it? You need to build and mutual foundation. Accept even their bible for the start. Even they truly believe ALL of their teachings is based on their bible, it is not. There is a ton of topics to start with. Ask question they cannot answer using even their bible. few examples: 1. Can we agree that all our teachings have be based on bible? Yes Can we agree that adding teachings to bible is in contrary to what Jesus warned us? Yes. I understand that you try to obey Acts 15:29 and avoid blood transfusion. And I remember from your web site, that blood should be spilled back into ground as bible says. That bad include 4 major blood parts Red blood cells, White cells, Plasma and Blood pellets. But I also know that for several years you are allowed to accept blood fractions like hemoglobin (fraction of red cells.) - Can you show me in your bible where is says that blood fractions are Ok, but blood parts are forbidden? - If I take 1litre of a blood, it contains approx 0,4litre of hemoglobin, which is a fraction and approx 1centiliter of plasma. Can you should me from the bible, that Jehova or Jesus is OK with accepting 0,4 litre of haemoglobin (40% of blood) but will kill us in armagedon for accepting 1% of blood in a form of plasma? - If a JW, a Christian is free to accept a blood fraction, a fraction that comes from donated blood, is a christian allowed to donate blood to save others with his blood fractions? Where bible says so? or. 2. I understand that JWs tries to avoid pagan traditions like Birtdays, the reasons are: Pagan origin, too much unhealthy - worship like attention to one person, no mentioning christians would celebrated. OK, Imagine this scenario I know happened. A family has twins. On the day of the birthday of the twins they are not allowed to celebrate it. No party, no gifts, no cake, no family and friends invited etc. Very Next day, the family has a party with family and friends, big cake, gifts, a lot of attention to two people. It was a wedding aniversary of their parents. Both occasions have pagan origins, Both have a lot attention to two people. And non of them bible recalled to be celebrated by Christians in 1st century. Please show me in your bible why the celebration of two kids is a disfeloshipping offence and a death in armagedon. The celebration of their parents is perfectly fine. There are tons of such though provoking questions. Insist on the answer, humbly ask them to get the answer prepared and return. it will devastate them. They have noisier ever think about it. they will be in shock it is not in bible and that they do not have an answer.

    As an exJW born in and being 40ys locked there I have to bow to your research. Most of never JWs are not any close to you knowledge about this cult. When you listed the points how to be a loyal JW, I would argue the list could much longer, but there are two major ones: 1. Always obey all and any commands for the Governing body. 2. Never ever question any GB's teaching, compare with bible, never share your doubts with anyone, even your family, friends or congregation. These two foundation blocks are all of it. Both are also ones of major definitions of a cult. If you breach any of those two, your are gone, and everyone including your closest family members have to shun you until death.
