    Hey Seth!
I officially quitted JWs 4 months ago and I must say that your videos helped me a lot to get through the process. As a JW I was feeling cut from the love of Jesus and I couldn't love him very much in return. Now I can fully live in the love of Christ. So I want to tell you a great thanks for your formidable work, you definitely deserves more views on your chanel.

Excellent video. I’m a former JW Elder who recently disassociated from the religion upon inadvertently discovering the true foundation of the religion via their own publication’s romanticizing of a book (WT 2021 Oct pp. 30-31). That incident led me down a deep rabbit hole.
    Several Things:
    1. Since I’m now a proud Apostate, “Apostate Literature” is nothing more than WT’s own literature that’s buried & hidden from current members.
    2. Believe it or not, but The Organization has waaaaaaay more false predictions than what you highlighted. It’s actually quite fascinating when you deep dive, & I’m sure I’ve missed some. The last time frame they predicted the end was subtle & heavily implied, & unless u have the original copies, it’s not found; it’s the year 2000.
“And if the wicked system of this world survived until the turn of the century, which is highly improbable in view of world trends and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, there would still be survivors of the World War I generation."
    -WT 1980 Oct 15 p.31
"Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom."
-The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah p. 216
“The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century".
    -WT 1989 Jan 1 p.12.
    3. Unfortunately, JWs have been indoctrinated to believe only “The Food” that’s provided by its Governing Body. B/c there’s so much material they’ve been inundated w/, the vast majority (99.5%) r unfamiliar with their own literature. This is by design. The other problem is, they’ve been conditioned to believe Prov. 4:18 is a prophecy of those taking the lead may make errors, but the light will become brighter.
Therefore, they have no interest in seeing older material printed, even if it’s just a couple of yrs old. Their philosophy is yesterday’s news is old news, & it doesn’t matter what was said before b/c the light gets brighter.
    4. The best way to preach to a JW is to pretend u’re ill informed of the Bible. Ask POV ?’s as they are showing u things. They’re convinced they are the only ones who have the truth. It’s also good to let them read from their bibles, b/c even though is a highly doctored bible, there’s various passages that can’t be refuted.

@@theologywithseth No problem; the other thing I neglected to mention is JW leadership, since its inception under their 1st President, Charles Taze Russell, have this innate ability to gaslight members into thinking their false predictions were nothing more than eager, zealous anticipation by…..THE MEMBERS. They actually blame the members for believing & hoping in these false predictions.
Which is why their new GB member, Jeffrey Winder, stated they are not embarrassed by past teachings, & no apology is needed.

Thank you for putting this together. It's honestly stunning how many times the watchtower did this. You'd think after one or two attempts they'd learn their lesson, but they just kept going and JW's kept coming back for more. I wish they'd heed the words of Jesus, "a healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit and a diseased tree cannot bear good fruit" -Matthew 7:18. Keep up the good work and ignore the nay sayers!

    • @theologywithseth
      @theologywithseth  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

That's a great reminder! Personally, I think it's probably part of the Watchtower's recruitment strategy. Whenever they announce a specific date, it tends to generate a lot of buzz and people begin flocking to the organization. Then by the time the prophecy fails, most people are already locked in and indoctrinated so they don't end up leaving. I'm sure there's a good psychological study about that floating around somewhere. Thanks for watching!

The quote from the New World "Translation", Deuteronomy 18:20 "‘If any prophet presumptuously speaks a word in my name that I did not command him to speak or speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. However, you may say in your heart: “How will we know that Jehovah has not spoken the word?” When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word is not fulfilled or does not come true, then Jehovah did not speak that word. The prophet spoke it presumptuously. You should not fear him." is THE key phrase that the JW's should keep repeating daily to themselves until they finally understand what it means. Or rather until they stop deluding themselves that they don't know what it means.

    Hey brother,
    I hope you are well.
I'd like to share another treasure from the bible.
Concerning this topic of devastation, there are a few observations I have.
The first thing to address is the leadership of this group.
Yes, they have failed many times, as sinful men do.
However, I cannot escape the level of shame I feel for them
as they indeed act as though they could actually fulfill prophecy.
As far as the scriptures say, only one person can fulfil prophecy.
They have indeed misinterpreted Matthew 24:45 (from their incorrection)
“Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics,
to give them their food at the proper time?"
We see that they have created a distinct class of people from this text.
To no surprise they have superimposed themselves in this position.
Would it not be a wonder if Jesus himself would set this straight...
my dear brother in the faith let us marvel once more at the truth of the matter. John 15:15
"I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master does.
But I have called you friends, because I have made known to you all the things
I have heard from my Father."
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
    Amen.

For the generation thing, it's actually worse than what you tell here, around 2010 they made an update about it by tweaking the meaning of generation, now they say that two people that live in the same time can be accounted as one generation, so someone that was 25 in 1914, and died in 1980 while knowing his grandson that was born in 1975, they are both one generation, so they bought themselve a few more years.

    • @theologywithseth

That's a great question! I'm always hesitant to speculate on people's *true* motives because at the end of the day, I don't really know what a person is thinking. I'd like to think that they sincerely believe they're being led by Jehovah and are simply mistaken, but in light of the information in this video and other facts, I find that hard to accept.
If I had to guess, I'd say *money* and *power* are the prime suspects here. Previous Watchtower leaders were less discrete about some of the benefits of being in charge of the Watchtower. Joseph Franklin Rutherford, for example, lived like a millionaire during the Great Depression when other JW's were struggling to make ends meet. He had the organization construct a massive mansion called Beth-Sarim for him, had various homes over seas, and he enjoyed the use of two 16-cylinder Cadillacs.
More recent generations of leaders don't flaunt wealth like that so it's harder to spot, but with all the donations they receive, I'm sure they're still tapping into that gold mine some way or another. There's a great TH-cam channel called "Lloyd Evans" who is an ex-JW himself, and I know he has a lot of content related to the inner workings of the organization and how money is handled. I'd recommend perusing his material for further insight into that. I'm mostly just a theology/history guy! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Cheers

Hi there! Thank you for your compliment. I hold all religions to the same standards when it comes to historical evidence. In my opinion, the evidence for the death, deity, and resurrection of Christ (the foundation of Christianity) is solid. However, if there's an equally devastating problem with Christianity as the false prophecy of the Watchtower, let me know and I'd be happy to investigate it!

    • @MouseQueso
      @MouseQueso 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@theologywithseth I'm sure you've heard all the classical arguments before. I won't change your mind, just like you would have never have changed my mind when I was a Witness. Ultimately belief doesn't come from evidence, as much as we'd like to say it does. Usually once a few assumptions are slipped in, and the proper motivation applied, belief follows.
For instance, the idea that the bible itself, of even just the Gospels, are reliable history is an assumption most Christians make. It is treated as a conclusion to be defended instead of a theory to be tested. From that point if view any myriad of excuses can, and must, be made for the various historical inaccuracies, or contradictions, found within.
I suspect you wouldn't treat other texts or beliefs that same way. One contradiction in the Quoran, or the book of Mormon.. and bam.. "it's not true, see" but Judas trips in a field and is hung on a tree, and we've got to find excuses.
When I left I decided. No more excuses. Not for any of them. If they are true then all evidence we uncover will point to that conclusion, never away from it. We would actually find chariot wheels at the bottom of the red Sea, instead of false stories of chariot wheels. We would actually know if Jesus ministry was 1 or 3 years. We would have genetic evidence that supports that idea that all humans descend from one single pair that lived approximately 250 generations ago, instead we have nothing but genetic evidence basically procluding that possibility, evidence that the Hebrew Bible basically couldn't be written by most of the traditional ascribed authors, and that those who did write it had deep and clear theological differences which were being worked out right in the text itself, thus we get doublet and triplets of the same stories over and over again.
Just the same as the evidence that the Watchtower was false is just screaming at you once you see it and leave, but you can't see it until you do. It is the same for Christianity. Once actually seen and not excused, it screams at you.

I am an active Jehovah Witness and neither I nor any of my brothers in the congregation believe or claim to be prophets. We are disciples of Jesus Christ, " THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD ". We preach door to door as Jesus taught us and commands us to do in the scriptures. Matthew-28:19 &20.

The problem is, the same people who taught you everything you wrote in that comment also taught that Jesus returned in 1874, that Armageddon would end in 1914, that Christendom would be utterly destroyed in 1918, that Abraham and the Patriarchs would be resurrected to Earth in 1925, and that the thousand-year reign of Christ would begin in 1975. Since they were clearly wrong about all of that, how can you expect me to have any confidence in *anything* they teach today?

1914 requires ancient Jerusalem to be destroyed in 607. It wasn't . Zechariah 7, takes place in 517 BC, there in verse 5, God himself says the Jews had been fasting for 70 years. Counting backwards, they started fasting in 587, when Jerusalem was destroyed. According to Jehovah and the Bible.

Having done my own research, I believe that Christianity was invented by Paul, Saul of Tarsus, as a way for Satan to subvert the message of Jesus and the Early Church in Jerusalem. Even the 12 apostles did not buy the gospel of Paul, his own invention, based on so called Revelations directly from Christ. Peter referred to Paul as his enemy, who was teaching a gospel different from theirs. I don't believe Jesus intended for Christianity to be the path of truth. Consequently, most of the New Testament is a creation of Paul and those who follow his gospel. The Letters of James and Jude, and the Saying of Jesus are the only scripture I believe to be truth. The apostles in Jerusalem remained under Torah until they were murdered. Paul had his own, different, beliefs. Amazing how little is written about James the Brother of Jesus, and how much is written about Paul who never met Jesus in life. Satan is working overtime. Is Paul the Anti-Christ?

@deborahgillespiewalter514 Forgive me, but your reply has confused me a bit. You said you only accept the words of Jesus + the letters of James and Jude as Scripture, but now you want me to read Galatians? Isn't that the same letter where Paul recounts his testimony of meeting the Lord Jesus and receiving his revelations directly from him? (Galatians 1:11-12). If you believe that letter is *trustworthy* , then you should embrace Paul as an Apostle. If you believe that letter is *untrustworthy* , you shouldn't use it to build your theology. So which is it?
