I’ve never been asked this nor really paid attention because I don’t fish less than a 2500. I could see why it makes such a big deal with the 1000 class.

I don’t want to advise that. I got a very nice Shimano grappler but it’s too stiff.

I’m not sure what they are called but Island Tackle in Carolina Beach has them. I really like them.

Sea Mullet is a common name for them in NC.

Fresh bait is extremely important if you can get it. Also, gear preparation can save you heartaches once you get in the headboat. Surf fishing is hard. I have a bunch of videos but three times as many bad days out there where I didn’t catch. Just keep going.

Hey buddy, I’ve actually sold the boat since this video and the main reason was the electrical issues that I had. I basically replaced everything under the deck and let it ride because the repairs on a 10 year old boat were killing me. The decks feel solid but I’m not a good source to help you decide if that’s an option. If it’s safe, it would make the boat a beast for offshore fishing. I never had an issue running out of bait. I loved that boat - just couldn’t afford it like I hoped.

Do whatever is best for you buddy. That’s awesome.

Cape lookout is the best right now but it all can be good depending on conditions. Try Hatteras, Ocracoke, Beaufort area, Emerald Isle, Oak Island. Any of them.

It’s more work for me too but I try not to take it out on him. He loves the beach more than any other place so I kinda have to let him get his zoomies out when we first arrive and then I can fish. Haha.

@ericwilliamsfishing I really want to get an 8 or 10ii for inshore light jigging. We do a lot of black seabass around Block Island, RI in 30-90 feet. 8 seems ideal for palm sized comfort and the 10 is a little wider. Hard to choose an 8 over a 10 for such a small additional price increase. Have you tried the smaller ones yet?

@M3hammerdown I haven’t. When I made this video, I think the lowest was the 12.

We had a storm come through and jacked everything up. I don't know of anyone thats able to do much fishing right now because its been blowing 20. I live in Wilmington NC.

Yeah. I do think so. Only thing is, they were on the surface for less than 10 minutes and I was having to run around for most of it. What i really wish I had was my fly rod...

@@ericwilliamsfishing Ahhh…yeah if you only had that little bit of time, you just gotta roll with it. As a fly fisherman for 30 years…I am always down for my fly rod…but topwater plugs are the greatest thrill in fishing for me…those eats where you hear it, see it and feel it all at the same time…nothing better in fishing for me….when they almost rip the rod out of your hands before your eyes and ears can even register what you saw, heard and felt 😂 Tight lines…wish you much success and continued great content 🍻🙏🏻

That’s really cool. I haven’t seen that before, nor ever seen a big turtle nesting on the beach. But yeah, epic day that will be tough to beat… can’t wait to do it again.

That’s awesome and something I’m excited for this summer. I use to make my own rigs but it’s way easier just to spend the $5. I’ve been buying my rigs this year.

@@ericwilliamsfishing back then it was awesome. It was like Mayberry. No crowds even in summer and plenty of good fishing. We'd leave the farm after morning chores and be back with fresh fish for supper. Good times. I'll keep watching you fish until we can get back there ourselves!
