Do the new styli fit my old cartridge AT 11E?

I am just watching this now, Nov 2024. I've just bought the Audiolab 8300A&8300CDQ along with the B&W 707s3. Not broken in speakers fully yet, but very impressed with my new set up so far.

I like your reviews but comparing Elex R to the Elex MK4 is meaningless unless you use the same Dac.. It just doesn't make any sense.

This Aphelion2 will be my next carton my P10 after my Apheta3 worns out.

Why do all the reviews say the mk4 "doesn't have enough power?" What is that supposed to mean? And that it heats up a lot.

I have the Cambridge axr85 and the Yamaha as501, and I'm certain these 2 have a similar comparison and are really too different for any sort of comparison and more about personal preference. To me, it's like comparing a performance auto and a luxury auto in the same price range, both are good at what they are intended to do with that being 2 different things.

JBL Stage A130 or klipsch for denon 600 ?

I'm thinking of upgrading my P2 with a P6. I use an AT-VM540ML and a Fono MM Mk5.

I find digital has more clarity. My music is fed through the qed reference optical into the as301 and sounds sublime.

II too have the Shelter 901 iii. I started out with the 501 ii about 18 years ago when I began my transition to MC cartridges. Previous I had a Grado Platinum with my VPI Mk iv with an SME IV arm. At the same time I got an Eastern Electric Minimax which I have upgraded and am I very satisfied with. I was floored by the dramatic difference in natural sound and vastly improved articulation of the Shelter and Minimax versus my Grado and mm phono stage. Later I got the 501 iii, and then upgraded to the 901 ii. The Shelter cartridges were quite difficult to source in USA since only Axis and one unpleasant and fancy pants dealer in Chicago sold them. I found a fantastic grey market dealer in HK. who sells sewing machines and from whom I have purchased about a half dozen carts and also my SME arm. Finally I bought a Shelter 901 iii since I lucked into an identical VPI Mk IV table with the TNT platter, SME arm, and standalone motor for an exceptional price. The living room table has the 901 ii with a JLTI and my main set has the 901 iii. In the mean time I got an Airy 3 which was a horrible match for my arm. I am thrilled with the Shelter cartridge with my SME arm and I highly recommend it. I also advise or caution cartridge buyers to carefully research tonearm/cartridge compatibility since I found some cartridges simply don't perform well with some arms and some do. FYI: I do use a sort of spacer since the Airy had a silver spacer they sell for $100. I took a 1964 dime and sanded it smooth, drilled a couple of tiny holes for mounting, and am all set. This adds a small mass to the head of the tonearm. I also played with Frank Van Alstine's old Grado stabilizer bar, and found some improvement but chose to not use it for its lack of convenience.

I love Audio Technica products (AT cartridges + studio microphones). The build quality and design is so beautiful. AT is not only a brand for me - it's a part of my life for sure.

How would you compare these with the 109 mkii?

The PLX1000 tonearm is 2mm SHORTER than the Technics. Therefor some shorter headshell that fit Technics won't fit PLX1000. This also means that Ortofon Concorde cartridges won't be long enough for certain alignment.

Main drawback is push button type controls, which i so not like.

Have you thought of using external step-up transformers with LOMC cartridges? I'm using Lundahl LL1941's with an Ortofon MC-20 LOMC with excellent results.

I own both of those amps along with about a dozen more. The Yamaha will blow the Cambridge away hands down. I also have dozens of speakers and never did the Cambridge come close to the yamaha. The Cambridge axa35 is just plain dull and lifeless compared to the Yamaha. That Yamaha is the best bang for the buck amp you can buy for the price. It doesn't compare to my Hegel or Mcintosh amps but for the price... no brainer.

Hi Rohit, got my Rega Brio a year ago based on your review, planning to get a a used pair of PSB Imagine B speaker with a 4ohm impedance and 87db sensitivity. Can the Brio drive these speakers?

Been a big fan of the MP110 for about ten years now. Wonderful cartridge, and increased my listening experience enormously after years of entry level old Audio Technicas. Recently acquired a used MP 500 with stylus in good condition for $25 ann I’m completely blown away!

Hi, I saw your review and also the DT8 review. I can't test both at home so i would like you to help deciding which to buy, for a solid state amp. I like the clarity of D20 but there's still something on the dt8. Maybe it's because my ears don't process low frequencies as a normal ear, and it has more bass. Please give me some words...thank you

I have these speakers, I used them with amplifiers like pass labs int-60, naim supernait 3, sugden A21SE Signature, denon pma-sa1, luxman L-550AX, leben cs-600, unison research tiriode 25, audio analogue maestro and they sound great.

Would you choose this over the audiolab 9000a

What dB of gain do you think is necessary for the Aphelion 2. I’ve been using the Sutherland Insight and I’m wondering if the 60dB top setting will be enough for that cartridge.

Many reviewers have stated that the Rega Kyte’s are bass light.

Have the Elex R and adore it. It is such a great all rounder. Great detail, punch, dynamics and all with a three D holographic sound stage. System is Mk1 Saturn as a transport into the very first Rega DAC. Speakers are 24 year old Celestion A1 stand mounts. This amp produces great scale and just locks onto the music. Easy to listen for hours to without fatigue. Admit I am tempted to have a go at the Aethos. Curious as to what difference it would make when the system already sounds so good. I sometimes ask myself how could I possibly improve on what I am already hearing. Might try and get a demo model home to try.

my system includes an LP12 turntable and B&W CDM1 NT speakers and with the AT 95 SH many records sound over bright so i am hoping going for an AT-OC9XEN will take off the brightness and sound less shrill.

If I may ask you a question : Do you know if I can connect this ELICIT MK5 to an Equalizer on PREAMP Output, and then connect back from the equalizer to an Input like TAPE IN ) or DIRECT INPUT? I wish people would stop using vinyl to test gear. Sure, those who still use it will be interested in how good the phono stage is but that isn't necessarily a good test of the amp itself. Furthermore, from my experience of Rega amps, their phono stages are the feature and anything else is an add-on.

I bought in 2019, Advance-Acoustic x-preamp and A-160 power amp and listen over Advance acoustic K11-S speakers...I surprised with the price/performance ...After 5 years I found a good deal and upgrade my system again with Advance Acoustic X-X-i1100 and XL-500 speakers...I highly recommend the brand..They are really sound fantastic.

Can't wait to demo them! The online verdict is that I probably need to upgrade the Brio to at least an Elax in order to get a good picture if the capability.
