I rode a really long way in 2016 (52,025 km) but now I just ride, preferably somewhere scenic, with an overnighter under the stars. Also do other activities off the bike, so hang around if you want to share some adventures with me!

Redshift Sports Kitchen Sink Gravel Handlebars
มุมมอง 12K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I give my new gravel handlebars a going over. The Redshift Sports Kitchen Sink with an optional loop is a flared handlebar specifically designed for long distance gravel riding. They are wider than your normal bars and can be bought with the optional grips for extra comfort. There'll be a separate video of the installation once I've edited that! Struggling for motivation to train? Me too.
มุมมอง 7553 ปีที่แล้ว
The pandemic has been hard on us. Some more than others, I'm sure, and not doing what we'd normally do is taking its toll. I'm supposed to be training for an event in April, and have zero motivation to train. In this episode, I tell you why I'm lacking the capacity to train, and what I'm doing to cope with it all. How are you dealing it? Let me know in the comments! Facebook: ayear...

Don't make this mistake when fitting a (Praxis) bottom bracket!
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
If you're looking to fit a Praxis M30 BSA English threaded bottom bracket, make sure you watch this first! And even if you're not, how about just watching it for the sheer entertainment of it all? I'm fairly new to bike maintenance and this is my first attempt at fitting a bottom bracket. Who knew it could be so complicated?! The two bottom brackets can be found here: The one I needed: praxiscy...
Getting air - learning to jump on my MTB!

A festive 300km bikepacking campout - in freezing temperatures!
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Instead of doing the Festive 500, I decided to do the #GoodBye2020Campout - camp out between Christmas and New Year. I also decided to make it a good distance and when I saw I could have a tailwind the WHOLE WAY(!) I had to go for it. And in case you're wondering... yes, there was a bit of gravel and a bit of mud. Top 5 route planning tips to minimise suffering on a long ride
มุมมอง 6723 ปีที่แล้ว
If you're about to plan a long ride, the suffering kind, then you need to watch this. From someone who rode an average of 142km every single day for a year, I can help you think about those external factors you may not have considered when plotting a route. Even with the best conditions possible, a really long bike ride will cause some pain. Planning your route with the right information can be...
First time fitting a new disc brake rotor - how NOT to do it??
มุมมอง 6353 ปีที่แล้ว
I said in my intro video that I'd share even the seemingly mundane stuff, like bike maintenance! Well, in this video I'm attempting to change a brake disc rotor for the first time. This is NOT a how-to video, it may even be more of a how-not-to video, but we all have to learn somehow! Feel free to let me know what I can improve on for next time. :) Jinny Chen's gorgeous design can be found here...
100 miles. On a gravel bike. In December.
มุมมอง 2.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I haven't done a 100-miler in quite a few months, and I don't even remember when I last did a solo 100, so I decided now was a good a time as any to go! And why not throw in some gravel for good measure (I say gravel, I mean mud)! Oh, in case you're wondering - yes, I desperately needed new brake pads.

Winter has just arrived where I am, and I'm tired of falling in the winter
Fantastic video!
Thank you!! 🥰
Nice setup. I had an original V1 ATR but sold becuase it little too big. Now thinking of combing my three bikes into one and getting another ATR with several sets of wheels. I currently run a SON dynamo with K-lites from Australia. Stonkingly bright!
I like you, you're fun 10/10 would watch you freeze your butt off again 👏
lol, brill vid. How do these bars to others? Have you ever tried Ritchey Beacon or Corralitos as a comparison?
@TheSEADEVIL69 No, not tried any others, I love these so much ice not needed to try any others! 😃
I did the exact same thing. Bought the same wrong bottom bracket….
@@connorgolden5097 Why bother even having different ones??
Bought studded tires in time for spring? Just when you need them the most. Haha. Winter is coming again whether we want it or not
Thanks for the great video, fitting mine tomorrow, fingers crossed 👍
Hope it went well! 😊
Just got all these and decided to ask my local bike shop to do it. Good informative video though.
Leave it to the puppy to come in all cheeky like and wee in the background, haha. I'm really looking forward to putting these on my road bike- I'm a bigger guy, and traditional drop bars are hard for me to work with- the angles on this bar should fit the bill.
I'm sure you'll love them! I'm so happy with mine, and the bar tape is still going strong. 🙌
can't agree more on the difficulty to zipup around the bend; in my case putting the vaseline helped a lot, at least making it smoother for the zipper to move up.
Good idea!
Thanks for this video! I've been looking for a portable kayak that would work for my 15 year old pup and I.
Great!
Long arm wrench FTW.
Good job. For small soda can as base, use an deodorant tube for pot support, more sturdy and don't need overlap.
Good tip!!
😂Really enjoyed and chuckled through this! Inspiring efforts!! Well done mate!
Thank you for watching! It was certainly an ordeal... 😅
So nice to hear a peep from you once in a while 😊
Great video and lovely to see you back! How cute is your wee dog?!? ❤
She's the cutest! She features on a few of my videos actually! 🥰
Lovely outing, I’m inspired. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching! 😃
Just like everyone says it’s great to see you back.
Thank you!! ❤️
Wow lots of new toys for Kajsa but Bumble only gets a carry handle 🤔
She's got it all already! 😁
Bout time Bumble had some new toys though. 😉
She only cares about one. 😄
Lovely to see you again
Hellooooo! So great to see you again 😊. I am totally interested in your “foldable” kayak. I have never seen anything like it. I would really like to get into kayaking but trying to transport one has me baffled. Oh, and maybe I should mention that I am a total newbie at kayaking, so is the foldable kayak novice friendly, and how much does it weigh? Say “hi” to monkey for me 😊
Yeah, it's totally novice friendly, even I can use it! Weighs about 13kg, I believe - something like that. I've even bought a packraft that I'm yet to try out - that's even more portable! And thanks for your kind words! 😃🥰
Great to see you back! Glad you and Bumble had a great time camping :)
Great having you back on TH-cam 😊
Good to see you back. That is one chilled dog 🐶 🛶 💤 ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Hello Kajsa! This looks like fun.
Good to see you! Thanks for sharing.
Carrying handle for a dog, what a superb invention 🤩 What a great way to go camping. Good to see you back.
Kacking! Ha ha
😁
Welcome back 👍
You're back! You could totally take your pooch cycling. Just need to get a basket for the handlebars of ... erm ... your road bike.
Tried that, it was not a success!! 😂
I took mine to my local shop and had them wrap them 😂
But then you missed out on all the fun!! 😆

Under heavy rain water will eventually get into that large hole of any waterproof cycling shoe. I found that a pair of drysuit ankle seals over the top of the neoprene cuff can be used to stop water getting in with a minor mod/ hack it's 10% sorted.
Brilliant video, a first for me too, but much prefer a tent for bathroom purposes. Stay safe.
This is one for me exactly these are my fears
No idea what the hammer was for but I approve of the idea. If nothing works-just smash the damn thing to bits.😂 That’ll teach it.
Damn straight!! 😂
Monkey monkey monkey in a rich man's zooooo
Such an engaging video - love the friendly conversational style! I think I'm about the same age as you so it's great to see not all wild campers are in their early twenties! Not sure it makes me want to wild camp though. A campsite with some facilities and a nice country pub next door gets my vote. As for axe-murderers, if someone wanted to chop up someone in a tent they'd probably head for a campsite anyway as likely to have more success!
Thank you for your lovely comment! And yes, if I was an axe murderer, I probably wouldn't head to the wilderness where there are no people! 😂
Hello, I know you said you had the outer up all night, did you have any condensation inside when you woke up? Thanks
Some, if I recall correctly. It's not overly breathable!
Do you still like the bivy?
Been a while since I've had the chance to use it but I still rate it.
Take some ear plugs.
No you take ear plugs.
@@KajsaTylen Sorry wasn”t being rude, just think ear plugs help with a good nights sleep especially on the first night on a trip.
@@jasongarcia7544 Sorry, me neither! 🙂 I prefer not to wear them just in case a herd of wild boars are heading my way! 🤭
@@KajsaTylen All good, do enjoy your videos. Actually brought the same fork bags and mounts as yourself after watching your video. Haven’t come across too many wild pigs here yet, only snakes and the odd drop bear🤔😆 Take care.
Any plans for the weekend? I’ll be fitting my new fork bags😊
Thanks for the tutorial, exactly what I’ve been looking for. Any comments on them since you’ve had them awhile
Actually, they've served me really well. The quality is great, I'm really happy with mine!
Just stumble upon your video and had a good laugh! I spent one night in the woods last summer and it was one of the greatest things I've ever done in my life. And I look forward to doing it again soon. And more than one night! You only live once! That's my motto and it gets me everywhere.
Do it! And thanks for watching and commenting - much appreciate it! 🙏
Fantastic video😀♥️
Thank you! 🙂
I couldn't stop laughing when you said you need to use a clothes peg to hold open the fly
Happy to entertain!

Sorry... 😔
Can you tell me where u got the backing track please. Ta
Storyblocks, most likely
Great shoes! I wear it down to -20°C with a merino sock. After three years of using Fizik Artica, the seam on the right aqua-zip began to diverge. Maybe because I have a high instep. Took a size larger. Probably the next will have to take a half.
Wondering that myself, go half size or one size up.
Fantastic advice! You have a new subscriber :)
Thank you!!
