What an absolutely awesome walk around this is. Thanks for uploading.
Please never sell any of your four bikes. You can never replace any of them.
I am so jealous. Your V65 is heavier and with a higher CG. So it is slower in corners but better on the long roads. As you know your collection is worth about 25-30,000.
I owned a VF1100F and was given a ride on the back of an CB1100F.
I traded my 1100f in on a v65 Sabre. No regrets at all. Well, maybe 1 regret. I got it after I outgrew my no fear stage. Never broke a hundred on it. Recently bought a VFR1200X with under 6k on it. Mint condition. The V4 reminded me of the Sabre, so I had to have it.
When I was about 20 I purchased a LC. Im now 57 and have the same bike. I have rebuilt it and is epic. But I'm chasing 2x brake slave cylinders. Any ideas.....thank you in advance hopefully
I owned a v65 sabre and I can say they are not for the feint of heart.
Didn't Japan make both those bikes...? If china did.... It would be CRAP.!!
Aren't both bikes japanese.?
@@solitaryjack7630 they certainly are Japanese
An interesting comparison would be the v65 Sabre vs the CB1100F....
On the trailer, is that a CB 900 with the high/low transmission?
@@raynic1173 no…mine is a 750F, you are thinking of the CB900C that came with the high/low gear range.
@@x7eater yeah that be it the C model. I had one, nice regular bike, drove great with no fanfare...
I believe it is a 10th anniversary CB750K, 2 into 2 exhaust
Sabre. . .Gold Wing on steroids. . .velvet sledge hammer,. . .
Crossed the country 4 times on the Sabre. I agree with your opinion. I don’t have experience with the CB1000, but crossed the country on a CB 900C twice. The power difference is astounding.. .my feeling is the Sabre “falls into turns” and will keep falling if you don’t stop it. . .and the 900 you made it turn, like most other bikes.
I just picked up one of these in California with 23k miles on the clock!
Just about to look at one of these .....would getting parts be a problem? as it is rare. Cheers
@@kengilly867 is it the one back east on marketplace near south Carolina? I was on business and saw another for sale over there about a month ago. But to answer the question it's still really easy to find most parts I do warn you the front rotors on these late model airheads with the dual brembos are ridiculously expensive I think it's about $450+ for the pair depending on were you look. Otherwise every part I've had to order and locate has been available as the actual drivetrain and engine in these was used in many other bikes until about 95-6 I believe. The basic engine and drive unit is virtually unchanged besides the cylinder heads from the R75-R100 with minor updates and ignition changes by the time they get to the 89+ model year. Overall has been way easier to work on and source parts for than any of the older Hondas I've owned as well.
@@RetroMotiveAdventures Hi ,yeah i did buy the bike in Australia , i am pretty sure this is the actual bike in the video.... it does appear to have newish standard front discs fitted as the guy in the video said he would...
The cam covers are correct. I have one i rode home from the dealer brand new.
I love My Sabre. Nothing like it.
xs250 ,,, used the same front end parts
Damn ! It's just like à brand new one !👍 Congratulations and enjoy it my friend ✌️🙏
Very nice example 👌
I loved my 250LC, I put boyson reeds in it, big performance difference, changed fork oil from 5 to 10 weight, mine had excellent brakes, I slowly backed off the oil injection about 1/2 turn, my opinion they burned way to much oil, DG chambers really woke it up. Racing plugs were a huge improvement. Riding it around the great ocean road was something else.🇦🇺
That is one very special garage lineup you have there. Those bikes are right out of the sweetest era of my motorcycling life.
Same here. I spent a lot of time drooling over both of these bikes in the mid 1980's but out of reach for me as a teenager.
65 is a pig. vf700 sabre 9x better cornors
Bolts were Phillips heads on casings ,look at u gear that circlip is a internal cirlip u must get a external ,the one u have will fall of again have a look at it
Had the exact bike.. actually my first bike . great presentation
Yeah! Keep those brake lines original ... they never wear out. Screw "track bikes" Awesome 750's .. I love these twin cam bikes I was 17 in 1979...
1100F just a bad looking machine!
True the V isnt a high speed hairpin bike. But once you learn to ride it, they handle very ably & smoothly with the right rubber . Very well balanced also. And even with the added weight, ghastly power!!! I started on smaller bikes, got a 78 CB750F in 81, a crated V45F mid 80's, had several 45 and 65F's. Love those bikes. CRAZY power in the 1100's, 121hp nominal. But I honestly loved my 1st V45F best. Perfect for frame size, weight, handling, ample power. But I'm 6'1 built up bulk over the years 🤣 Eventually missed the power feel, so stepped up into the V65. Not riding currently due to C-7 injury in a bad auto accident on black ice, but Id get another V65F in a hearbeat. Great video 👍
Had a 900F bought new,I love that 1100F model.
Wow it is in such a good condition!
What is 1979 cb750k in good condition word? I am looking at one at the moment.
depends on where you are based, and the condition of the bike, i.e. a solid daily rider, might be $2k USD, a daily rider in very good condition would be $3-4k, one like mine as shown in the video would be $5k-$6k I would guess at today's (2023) prices
@@x7eater Thank you very much for your info
IMO, the nicest looking Japanese bike ever made. I bought mine right out of the box in 1976 for $2000 Canadian, mine was brown, Loved it. Wish I still had it.
This is an amazing collection. All these bikes were top dogs when I was in my teens... could never ever imagine affording one at that age but have a serious hankering now to get me on of these vintage beauties !!
Ha! Had the suzuki 1000L on the trailer. Loved that bike. Several cross the usa trips on it in the 80s.
This is a really great comparison between two great machines but as you said which are completely different personalities... I have had two of the 1986 V65 Magna and while I do love the V4 engine I much prefer the inline four mainly because of its ease of maintenance especially when you're talking carburetors The V4 is a real pain in the butt... As far as power output and sound and feel again I much prefer the smoothness and the sound of a inline 4 over the V4
Brilliant! really like the factory look. four into two always looks more balanced. A Marving Exhaust update video would be welcomed. Cheers
Hi David, may i ask where you got your Marving Exhausts from? thanks. P.S. All your bikes are lovely. I have a 79 CB 750K which need exhausts! Cheers.
You can buy them directly from Marving in Italy, but I bought mine through a distributor called M4 Tuning, you can just Google their name. Thanks for the compliments!
The CB 110f is a better looking bike of the two !!¡🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Wonderful video, best I've seen on the LC. Love all the detail and excellent narration. I just found a 1982 RD350LC (never sold in the US so quite rare here). I will give it a minor resto to try and keep it as original as possible like yours. Here is a link to my RZ350 vid which has detail and fun like yours. Cheers! -Kirb th-cam.com/video/MQSpfFh2xOg/w-d-xo.html
Nice! I wanna get Marving Exhaust for my 81 CB750F they have in chrome since my originals rusted out. Right at the drain hole they where completely rusted out.
Its a bit late, but good on you. I had one 40 years ago and love them to this day. Im a brit living in the US and miss the variation of bikes here, Ive ridden Harleys, but love Japanese 2 strokes
Is this the 125 HP Model?
At our shop us mechanics tried to hide when these V65's came in for work! LOL The carbs in the valley between the "V" are an absolute bitch to work on. A Nightmare. A common job was the bike had been left sitting - and the carbs all clogged up with rotting gas. I swear there are a million jets in these carbs - all to be painstakingly cleaned out. Cleaning them out was a $1,000 job.
Yes I removed and cleaned the carbs once when I got a 85 V65 Sabre. It was a PIA but in the end worked. New rubber intake boots helped greatly with the installation.
I like to see them race 1/4 mile track!!
i owned v-65 loved them but big problem was the cam rocker , for the rest my best bike powerfull for a custom and easy to ride .
I had a V45 magna (1984) and also had cam issues.
Very nice restoration👍
I was born in the 90s, so a little late to experience the two stroke era, but your bike is absolutely gorgeous and has inspired me to try to afford a two stroke of my own.
i had a 550e suzuki and that 350 easy kept up it was so fast
Wanted a Vmax. Bought a 85 V65 Sabre at 21. Beat it daily for 33k miles. Bought s VMax. More torque everywhere, more up top. The weight still dampens the HP output
My junk 84 fj1100 with the fj1200 engine, 4-1 and diy carb jetting would eat either the VMax or V65 while eating 87 octane
My V65 Sabre lost a bike on every gear change to VMax. Even at the top of a gear, then dropping back on every gear change. My fj1100 with 1200 engine jetted and 4-1 on 87 octane was all midrange, but would leave my VMax from any low-mid rpm roll-on
Absolutely beautiful bike!❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
