FLYING OVER DOLPHINS AT THE MEETING OF THE WATERS (S01/E58)
Season One is coming to a close as the rainy season has begun in the Amazon Rainforest. The paramotor and motorcycle adventure through South America must end as travel is no longer viable for this time of year. But before I go, I decide to have some fun and I have an amazing experience flying over the meeting of the waters.

IMPOSSIBLE FLIGHT IN THE AMAZON (S01/E57)
มุมมอง 369วันที่ผ่านมา
The adventure to Manaus leads me to find another paramotor pilot and ends with an amazing flight over the Amazon Rain Forest. Trying to get the motorcycle off the boat was a feat in and of itself - but with all hands-on deck the impossible becomes possible. A birthday, the police corruption, this episode has everything. Forced down the Amazon River (S01/E56)
มุมมอง 34014 วันที่ผ่านมา
Navigating the Amazon River because I cannot enter Venezuela, I have no choice but to enter the center of the Amazon Rain Forest. Without a good plan of how to get back to Colombia, I might be heading into a dead-end. With my motorcycle and paramotor stored in the belly of the ship, I wonder how I am going to get home from this adventure.
NO MORE ROADS! AT THE EDGE OF THE AMAZON (S01/E55)
มุมมอง 36921 วันที่ผ่านมา
Reaching the great Amazon Rain Forest and now I have run out of roads. But by coming here I met a friend who also flies paramotors. My next motorcycle adventure will lead me deep into the Amazon, but before I go, I get to enjoy flights at precarious beaches where the tide and the winds don't always align. I kid you not that I was just thinking that I suddenly remember flying an LED lighted prop, but hadn't seen it. A minute into the video, you are flying that fancy prop I seem to recall from before your travels. I hate the news dfor now, but look forward to the next season. Right before the holidays here may work out to be good timing for you. Anyway thanks for making my Thursdays more enjoyable.

Oh man, I'm bummed out, as you are for sure. My Thursdays won't be the same for awhile. I understand completely, though. Weather and location has its limitations on a lot of activities. But, I also know from watching since the beginning when you were still flying at your home outside of Terrell, that you are one tough traveler. If there were a way, you would do it. Thanks for taking the viewers on such an epic journey. I have learned a lot about people and geographics through this time with you. That, I hope, brings joy to you. It looks as if you have inspired those "beginners" to enjoy the "playground" a bit! Footdrags!!! Finally! So cool to see that done in such a remote part of the world, that's a new one, for sure.I have to add that I wish my knees and legs were still strong enough for 'foot launches' because I see you flying in places where that is only possible. I assume you will be back to flying back in Texas? If so, I'll be watching. As for new adventures, or added adventures, you might do what I watched Mark Hunneycut do, fly from Mexico to Canada. Beautiful western terrain.......but, that isn't exactly a "playground", more like a grueling cross country!! Anyway, Kris, thanks and I'll be watching for more adventures. And as always, be safe and Blue Skies! (Hello to 42!)

Thanks Greg. I try to be safe when it makes sense. It's always best to live to fly another day. For me, flying is about enjoyment and when you are working to keep your glider from collapsing and getting knocked around wanting to be on the ground, then it's work and not fun. I'd rather fly for fun. I know it's only one small mistake and my adventure is over, so I have to be fairly conservative this far from home. The next flight coming up was definitely FUN! Can't wait until Thursday to get your comment.

I am so glad you keep watching my adventure. I try to tell the story of the whole adventure and not just the flying although I know a lot of my subscribers just watch for the flying part, but to me, it's so much more than that. I should be in the States soon, so let's plan a time to fly together. Just let me know where/when and if the weather cooperates I'll be there.

Hey Kris! Another video that doesn't disappoint. More views of the river that just blow my mind. It's hard to believe how wide it gets at different points. I've never seen rivers that merge with that type of physical reaction. Amazing. I think the only thing close to that, that I've seen is where the Indian and South Atlantic meet at Cape Town. Amazing phenomena. I'm just wondering how much tension there was for you when they were trying,, with a lot of effort, to pick your bike up to that ramp!!! Decades old river transportation.....they really got it down! I can imagine the relief that came with no damage. You may have mentioned and I just dont remember, what engine are you using? Vitterozi or Moster? Have you had many 'stomach churning' moments with engine sputter, or stoppage? Just can't help but think of engine out moments over some of that jungle!!! Your thoughts? Sure was some nice flight videos there at the last. Fun, fun, fun! Looking forward to the advice you get about your next 'leg' of the adventure. Until then, be safe, and Blue Skies!

    • @mydogischoking
      @mydogischoking 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

It's amazing how many times you can't see the other side of the river. Most of the time the captain would hug the shore because we are heading upriver, and when he does that, you can't see the other side. We went through a lot of tributaries too, and the narrower video clips are when we were in a tributary. I liked the tributaries better because of the wildlife you could see in the trees (couldn't really get it on video though). The bats at night would swoop over the ship and some of them were huge. Beautiful creatures they are, and very fast. The bike over the plank was an effort for all of us, and extremely stressful for me. So glad it worked out. That made the heart jump quicker for sure. The engine I use on the paramotor is a Vittorazi Moster. Moster is the standard 185cc model. They also make an Moster Factory R, which is a lighter version with a little more horsepower, and a Moster EFI that eliminates the carburetor. Their other models are the Atom 80, and the Cosmos 300 (primarily used for trikes). I trust my motor a lot and Vittorazi is known for making an engine that is fairly trustworthy. So I haven't worried to much about it when flying over trees or water. But it is in the back of my mind. Plans are changing rapidly, so I'll let you know where I'm heading next. Probably won't be what we all expect.

Wow, wow, wow!! Seriously! Just can't believe the adventure that is unfolding for you. What an amazing memory this will always be. As ann 8th grrader, many moons ago, the study of geography introduced me to South America, and Brazil. The only city I knew of back then was Belem. Never forgot that, and now I've seen where it is in regards to the river. Thanks for the tour! Also, just amazed at how wide the river is. Sure puts the Mississippi to shame!. All that vegetation on the shore sure looks thick. Wouldn't want to be stuck in there!. Sometimes, the decisions we make can be life altering, in good and bad ways. I hope this ends up being a positive outcome for the journey. So far you've had some great luck with the people you have met. Hopefully, more will follow. Hard to say as isolated as this new territory is. Never know, but that's part of the adventure. Too bad about Venezuela, but as we've discussed, geopolitics aren't conducive for Americans. Speaking of which(something else regarding decisions) my other traveling TH-camr, Tommy of "Sabbatical" is having second thoughts about his choice of locales at the moment. He's in Siberia and he's already gotten some negative encounters because of the current animosity to Americans........As you have said, It's all an adventure.........watching this today on Thanksgiving. I hope yours was a good day. As always, be safe and Blue Skies!......jeez, I just looked at a map of your location. Fortunately, Manause is around 2 million population. So, there should be someone you'll meet that has a good solution to get to Equador or Columbia. That's a lot of river travel, my friend!.............the following is a post I found that dates back to 2015....I see that you can travel up the Amazon by boat to Leticia from Manaus for around 110 bucks if you bring your own hammock. Plus cost of bike TBD by your negotiating skill. Upstream travel time is around 6 days. There are no roads out of Leticia. I seem to remember you were on a DL650. They have flights out of Leticia to Bogota, but I doubt if you could stuff your bike into one of those planes very easily. Who knows? But you can take a boat further up the Amazon to Iquique Peru for 65 bucks plus cost of bike. Alas, still no overland road. Another 5 to 7 days upstream takes you to Pucallpa where there is a road into Peru. I have heard of backpackers taking this route but never a moto. Anything is possible, but that is a lot of ifs. If it was August in the dry season you could take BR319 south of Manaus and hook up with the TransAmazonica hwy over to Peru. I have only seen pictures of that road and it looks like a mud pit unsuited for a Weestrom during the rainy season. Unless you could find a truck to to haul you south through the worst parts. If it were me, I would head north through Boa Vista to the Venezuela border and take my chances with bribery and cajoling. The worst that can happen is you have to backtrack. The road is paved now and it would be a fun scenic ride. I would look at it as a public service to ADVriders heading that way in the near future. But that's just me.

People with linguistic talents, especially when they speak Arabic, like Tommy not so rarely have been in intelligence work. I am not surprised that he’s having negative experiences while his country kills Russians.

My pleasure showing you Belem. It's quite the large city! It is extremely diverse in both people and architecture. The traffic is horrible, but the scenery is nice in a lot of places there. Another viewer told me that the city name Belem means Bethlehem in Portuguese. Oh yes, the Amazon is WAY bigger than the Mississippi! Way bigger. There are some spots where you can't see the other side of it. Most of the travel has been close to the shore on one side or the other because we are traveling upstream and I think it is probably easier to do close to the shore (just a guess). The jungle on the river is super thick and you can't see the end of it. I've seen some cool wildlife in there, but too quickly to grab a camera in time. Also, there are dolphins and porpoises in the river too! You see the porpoises often but I haven't seen the dolphins yet. I am told they are pink. I will attempt to find some, but I'm not sure where people see them yet. Yeah... too bad about Venezuela but maybe another year. Hopefully the politics will change and that will give me and other Americans the chance to see that beautiful country. Yes, I'm actually looking into the boats to Tabatinga (Leticia) from Manaus which looks pretty promising. From there I know I can get to Iquitos. But my ultimate goal would be to find passage to Coca, Ecuador from Iquitos. That might be a stretch though with the motorcycle and the paramotor. I know it's possible, but finding the captain that will take all my stuff in cargo is the unknown at the moment. But that's the plan at the moment. What worries me about the plan is the TIP (customs paperwork) for the motorcycle. I don't know if there is an Aduana there or not. I guess I'm going to find out. At $400 dollars per day for not having the TIP correct, it's a big risk, but we'll see. If you remember Episode 23, that was Coca, Ecuador. So if I can get back there then I'll be set. Can't head north to Boa Vista (although everyone in Manaus says I'd love flying up there with the paramotor). The problem is that Venezuela has mostly paved roads and the amount of road checkpoints is insane! Watch Charly Sinewan's channel (@charlysinewan) as he takes his motorcycle through Venezuela, and you'll see what I'm talking about. You can't get through the country without at least hitting 50 checkpoints where they inspect your passport. The thought did cross my mind for a second, until I realized that without the Visa I'd be in a Venezuelan jail somewhere... not good. So a boat it is I think... and the adventure continues! Thanks as always for writing me. It brings immense joy to me.

Thank you for not going up again. I didn't like the way you were talking up there. Be careful please, the last thing us viewers want to see is you filming from a hospital or even worse, not filming at all. God bless

Yeah it was a bit shaky up there, and the wing I'm flying requires active piloting in rough winds. Increases my bump factor for sure. And I definitely don't want to end up in a hospital either, so I think I made the right call. Thanks for the comment and the best wishes!

Sounds like the corruption here in the US. I think it's a World Wide issue. Thanks again for the ride along

Yeah unfortunately every country has some of it, but I'm really surprised how blatant it is here and how complacent the public is about it. Shameful. Thanks for the comment.

The bike has definitely had some issues, but I'm sticking with it now - the good the bad and the ugly. Yes He definitely loves us all. Thanks for writing.

People are soooo… loving, yet Brazil is one of the most murderous and crime infested places in the world. Many people there have no morals or conscience. Why not mention that, when complaining about police?

Since you put so many miles on that bike, in that country, why not crack a book open and learn a few words of Portuguese?

You remind me of Itchy Boots, alone, not speaking a word of local language and without cash! That woman was equally reckless, also clueless. Maybe she’s still alive.😅 Still, thanks for the video. It’s entertaining and you put in the effort to get in-and-out of trouble, in some forsaken place. It is appreciated and subscribed!

So you're saying I'm reckless and clueless LOL! Noraly (Itchy Boots) is still alive. Her present season (Season 8) has her in Turkey now, heading toward Japan. I appreciate you comparing me to her as I am a big fan of her work. Thank you very much for subscribing and for the comment. Much more to come.
