I'm a bit of a gaming enthusiast who likes to explore niche topics that nobody else bothers to think about. When I created my channel in 2007, I primarily used it as a dumping ground for terrible videos produced with the help of HyperCam 2 (unregistered, of course) and Windows Movie Maker. Improvements in my computer's hardware and the availability of recording/editing software allowed me to make some (marginally better) videos focused on Super Smash Bros. Melee's debug menu. After that topic lost its luster, I embarked on a series of failed attempts to become a generic indie game reviewer/livestreamer before eventually deciding to just make long-form videos about the things that interest me. Whether or not a huge number of people end up watching them is a secondary concern, but I still hope you'll take a moment to look through my videos and maybe find something to enjoy!

Reviewing Nintendo's (and Rare's) Christmas-Themed Renders
The promised Christmas special is finally done! 'Tis the season to bask in good vibes, so I urge you to sit back and enjoy this smorgasbord of renders from many a Christmas past. A video of this size was a much easier lift, although I think the rest of my life became even busier to compensate. Oh well, we're finally here. Happy holidays, everyone!

Reviewing N64-Era Mario Renders
มุมมอง 318Kปีที่แล้ว
The first video in a new series (potentially)! This thing has existed in various stages of production for over a year, but I kept stopping to rewrite the script or redo the voiceover or play whatever new game found its way into my Steam library. I finally managed to push the video into a state of "good enough" and wanted to publish it before I could second-guess myself. It isn't a perfect speci...
Super Smash Bros. Melee Debug Menu Overview [2] - Non-Playable Fighters (CHAR SELECT)
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
After roughly four years in development, welcome to the second part of my debug menu tutorial/overview series! In this video, I mess around with the wireframes, Giga Bowser, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and Sandbag and explain some of their nuances/oddities. I also briefly touch on the entries for POPO and NONE and discuss the debug menu's somewhat odd naming conventions. Feel free to like/subscrib...
Banjo & Kazooie DLC Reveal Reaction (Warning: Loud and Shameful)
มุมมอง 1.3K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Just thought I'd upload this since Banjo's reveal was a monumental event. I should also clarify that the uncontrollable laughter at Duck Hunt was due to sheer glee at the thought of Banjo, not because I thought the reused joke was particularly hilarious (although it was still super cute). I find these Target Test fights to be really interesting, just because of the bizarre geometry that usually leads the characters to get stuck in these horrible situations.

I've never been a fan of Mario but goddamn, as an artist seeing these renders up close makes me smile, they're super fun and playful, and i think its because of their toon-ish simplicity.
This guy exudes Linkara energy
commenting for engagement, i hope everything has been going well. thank you for continuing these videos even if the view counts arent as high as the others. they’re really a treat.
I appreciate the cdi hotel Mario OG "enclosed instruction book" meme
in the past few videoed i’ve watched from your channel you’ve expressed remorse that the videos are so long but long form videos are performing much better on youtube these days!
came here to boost your engagement! your videos are so calming and your style of humor is unique and hilarious. two videos in and i’m already subbed!
i really enjoyed this style video! it was very cozy! i wonder if the weird development of Peach and Daisy is because they are the two most human like characters of the bunch. although the bros are clearly human, they are cartoonish caricatures of humans whereas the princesses have more normal proportions
U got a good voice for these types of vids
The reason the mario party games had such poor renders is from the game being made by Hudson, not Nintendo. Nintendo didn't give Hudson their models, so Hudson had to make their own. The promotional and box art looks better because Nintendo did that in-house, instead of having Hudson do it.
13:18 I would assume that, since the game was developed by Hudson Soft, they decided to make their own models loosely based on Nintendo's models that they used at the time. They might have resorted to making their own versions either due to a few theories that I might believe in, or simply due to the following, either Nintendo does not allow to distribute their own models that they made to other companies except for whoever needs them for their animation promo (Case in point Mario Kart 64 + Taco Bell, the advertisement for Mario Party in Japan, etc.), different 3D software (SoftImage 3D, 3D Studio Max, Alias PowerAnimator/Maya) though this would be debunked by converting models as OBJ but that is a different story, or whatever the case it may be. It's why the models rendered here are more so from Hudson Soft themselves, and most likely not from Nintendo themselves since they had their own. ...which is even MORE odd if you count the fact that the Peach model they used for the promo material of Mario 64, does not fall in similar lines with Mario Kart 64's promo model, nor Mario Party until I would assume around Mario Party 2, Mario Golf, etc., where they instead used the SM64 Promo model...can't blame em, why try to perfect something that looks cute/perfect already? Hell, there are people nowadays recreating those models in Blender either for Render96, or for their own needs in terms of fan animation. :y
29:30 I hope you have been well rested since then.
12:27 why does the guard look like a completely different art style than all the other art? Seriously that looks completely odd.
Thanks for this video!
Same vibes as 2006 LEGO Batman Set boxes. The same nostalgic sheen.
This is my new favorite video on TH-cam. Idk, your vibe is calming and the topic is oddly fascinating
3:17 actually you can do that on the second level, its an alternative path to kill the plant...
So, I didn't think I'd ever watch a video like this. Renders of characters in a video game franchise and someone is going to review them? No thank you. But I watched it. And I don't know, I got so sentimental watching this. My whole childhood came back to me. I didn't realize I was so connected to these images. Even the random baddies brought back memories of levels I spent hours trying to beat. I saw the little "banana bird" and started remembering all the little side quests I figured out on my own to find them in DKC 3. This video was the highlight of my night just now, and I thank you so much for doing it. DKC was and is my all time favorite video game series. This was unexpectedly beautiful.
I want all the n64 games remade into this
I love old CG renders of video games. They all just look clean as all hell, even by today's standards of CGI
I like how first pictures of young link and adult link both have basically the same pose, same with Zelda and Gannon.
I remember the time seeing that Metal Mario in a Nintendo Power (The pic on your video’s icon) And thinking that it was gonna look like that.. I was so wrong lol
It'd be cool if you looked over the renders from Nintendo games of the early 00s like Melee, Super Mario 64 DS, or Pokemon Coliseum. Obviously they look way better than the stuff from the 90s, but those models are really starting to show their age as well.
Are all yoiunintejx7gus
Awesome vid 👍 ...even tho I'm a year late lol
The closest we have to 3D renders like this made in an official Nintendo game is Wario World, which made me fall in love with it.
"So happy" is that a Nintendocaprisun reference
14:45 Never having seen either render, to me he looks sick, like he's about to puke
I do hope you cover Dreamcast-Era Sonic renders, despite how little there are, I think they invoke the same plasticy feeling as the N64 Renders.
How's that first quarter something going?
The audio is way to low in this. Its heard to hear
Nothing can ever beat 90s and early 2000s era 3D renders Theres do much charm in them
"this vulture is beautiful-" "MANKY KONG IS FUCKING TERRIBLE"
1:54 off topic, you failed Laikitu skip 😔
n64 daisy gets me a little excited
I really miss this art style and animation. Where everything was plasticy, bulbous, and bouncy. I'd love if it came back, the same way pixel games did.
Huh never knew toad lacked legs
I don't know about anyone else, but I always perceived that render of Bowser chasing Mario in the hills as actually taking place in front of the castle, like Bowser was really impatient so he thought to just get a spawn kill on Mario.
Man the Kiddy is too much he doesn’t look bad you can tell they thought what would a cartoony giant baby kong look like.
ngl daisy looks better in the N64 era renders then the modern ones, due to the fact that the N64 daisy feels more like a unique character instead of just "orange peach"
This audio could use some work. I really like the subject of the video, but it's not enjoyable to listen to.
Graphics or art style wise both Rare's DKC trilogy and the the two 64 Banjo Kazooie games have pretty cartoony big eyed looking character designs but the levels have a more realistic detail to them.
4:02 a weird fun fact, around 2007-2009 (I don't remember which year it was) the key art render was on onw of my birthday cakes as a kid. I think I can remember it being a dq cake or from walmart. But oddly enough, that's how I remeber that piece art lol. I wonder how you go about getting permissions to put mario renders onto cakes 🤔
is it just me or does it look like they kinda feel like they were made with ai
One thing of note about the DKC1 renders is how off the contrast and color each printed version is. Blown-out highlights, Crushed and/or lifted blacks, oversaturation and lost detail all over the place.
I’m sorry, but I think only you hate blue and yellow toad
I think "Personality" might've been the word you were looking for over "Charisma".
The card illustration at the end had me in SHOCK
Love the videos!!!
21:15 actually got a belly laugh out of me. Thanks for that
