Wo during when the practices will start………just sayin’ 🤔🤔🤨🤨
DF me? DF you. Lol. Very humorous video. Looking forward to the series.
i agree with you
Keep up the GREAT VIDS!!! I've owned my FT-60 for years and this is the first time that I have learned how to program it. Hoping you can put your vids out daily!!! Truly helpful for a beginner!!!
Meh my buffwang uv82 cant play the encryption game but thats ok I would just fat finger anything more complicated 😂
Remember, the current administration got it's ass kicked out of Afghanistan by a bunch of sandal wearing goat herders.
i just added this to my store have been testing it for days i love this radio
I'm about 5 minutes in, and judging from the number of times I have LOLed, I think this is content I've been looking for. Subscribed.
Interesting perspective on topic, I use this method . Possible, probable and most likely for making plans. And just keeping it simple. I plan on watching the series as you post them up.
Very interested in this series.
I just love your channel and it's such a breath of fresh air to listen to someone with common sense give advise!!!! Keep them coming!!!!
Ranchers living near our southern borders have had to organize and cooperate for their own mutual survival! Fences destroyed. Live stock lost or stolen. Gun fights with drug runners! So, yes! There is a very real need for Secure Communication.
Hello ks6day, de dl5wt, alias n2iyg. Great video i just recently bought this little trx, (29,76 euro here in Germany including shipping!!!) all i can say is why do i have to pay a tremendes amount of money for other manufacatuers with les features. Here in Germany the minority amateur radio communty is still under the opinion that these radios are scrap. Well time will tell and who knowse what kind of aprovements wil be down the road. Sorry my english is a little bit rosty, but i think its ok 73,de, dl5wt (Uli)
How do you enter a frequency to listen to, without using the pre-built memory frequencies with this radio?
Could you do me a favor and measure the radios thickness near the top where the knobs are? I think YAESU says 30mm which should be about 1/1/16-1/1/8” please don’t include the belt clip thank you,
Sounds great!
My opposition is a bunch of 8-12 year olds with gel blasters. They're short and skinny, but they're fast and disrespectful. I underestimated them last summer but I won't make that mistake again.
Your maturity is very appreciated. 🍻🇨🇦👍
Looking forward to this series Scott.
Great first video. I agree with your take on COMSEC and the threats. I think one thing that has to be looked at is what degree of SHTF are you in, and also your location/topography. I practice DFing and monitoring for a worst case SHTF as a part of my COMSEC plan. I also live in a smaller rural town with lots of open ground for miles around me. Much different than a urban area. I'm not so much worried about the Feds as I would be groups who would at some point look to rape and pillage. Being able to get a good direction from radio signals and hear what the convos might be would be something worth doing. The higher level groups will most likely have good COMSEC which will make them hard to detect. The groups with little discipline will make it far easier to detect and locate. Detecting others in advance is just one part of a much larger COMSEC plan. It 100% is not foolproof by any means, just one more tool in the toolbox. Thanks for what you do Scott. You are an asset to the radio community !!
thanks for doing these overviews and explaining how it works. subbed. keep up the good work
Late Happy New Year my friend, and Late Merry Ho Ho Ho 🎄.
Looking forward to the series.
2 layers of black heat shrink tubing over the area you pointed out helps to avoid that annoying crack. It blends in perfectly and disappears
I bought two of these phones cannot get either one programed, used both manual and chirp through computer... nothing?
Just got the TD h3 friday. Will be watchng all the tips and tricks. thanks
Have you got a solution for left handeds? because unfortunately these headsets only have an AUX port on the left side.
No solution for adapting Walkers or Howard Leights. But the Earmor M32 headset is around the same price as buying a set of Walkers or Howard Leights plus the comm kit. The Earmor M32 can be easily set up for left-handed users and is a solid performer. Here is a link to my review of the M32 - th-cam.com/video/IHcjzZihp9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3TywtOh8Y3MKngQt
@KS6DAY Appreciate it. Haven't heard good news about that one. I do have a PTT from Earmor, but The Headsets seem to be only gold For Airsoft, if at All.
Mine will scan on vfo, but when scan is pressed in channel mode it just emits a beep and won’t scan. Hmmmm any ideas?
935G and 935G PLUS, which is better ?
The Plus version has a few upgraded features over the standard KG-935G, such as USB-C charge capability, and the cost is only slightly higher. So, if I were buying one for the first time I would go with the KG-935G Plus. But my standard KG-935G is still getting the job done so I have not seen the need to upgrade yet.
I have the orange color baofang uv 21 and I got mine from Amazon and it is fully unlocked I live in the upstate area of South Carolina and My radio is great
My UV5G Plus, also has a bit more “hiss” or static on all incoming signals no matter the power. Oddly the cheapo cobra rx680 frs radios my kids use actually have a far clearer and cleaner RX than the baofeng uv5g plus. Going to swap to a Nagoya antenna and see if its RX cleans up. And I programmed it with Chirp using the uv5rm
I read that this radio does crossband which requires full duplex ability. Does it?
No. It does not have crossband repeater capability.
@KS6DAY Understood. Thanks!
You should do teardowns and open up these mics you review see if they have orings and the type of board they use.
Regarding Wide vs Narrow FM mode, it's true that wide band FM is the norm, +/-5KHz FM and 3KHz as highest transmitted audio frequency on TX, and using a 16KHz RX filter. 2x(5+3)=16 Narrow band TX is +/-2.5KHz modulation and a narrower 11KHz RX filter. 2×(2.5×3)=11 Spreading the same power in a narrower bandwidth and getting less noise by narrowing the RX filter, gives a little better signal to noise ratio resulting in a slightly incresed range, an increase of readability when long distance signals are weak, at the expense of a bit less audio quality which in turn is only useful when signals are strong enough. See Carson Rule and noise energy amount respect to the frequency bandwidth or noise power per bandwith.
Commountain has a nice punch to it. Nice bass on the sound.
For IP67, I mean... you're not going swimming with the mic. 😂😂😂
As a former Navy MARS operator, I can say with certainty that the ability to inter-operate saves lives. I have open transmit on a few of my Chinese radios but I don't have mods on any of my Japanese radios. Maybe, I'll work up the courage at some point but they are all crazy expensive. I can trust myself to be responsible with a modified radio but sometimes I think about how they might become a liability in other people's hands.
Great help thanks for taking the time to do these
I wish I saw this before I bought this radio is junk. I am shocked it has the Icom name the display is awful programming is difficult at best menu system is terrible.
I am very disappointed in this radio it does not feel like a Icom radio. Display is terrible and programming is difficult. I am shocked Icom sells this radio with the Icom name.
Please put yourself on camera up front. Every time I see the talking fingers I think it's a notarubicon parody.
i seen the UV-17R for $19 i am so disappointed there hard locked now and cant be unlocked vary sad as i like to have that a GMRS freq option for camping
One of my HT accessories (I think it was a discreet earpiece /mic) came with a similar clip to the one that comes with the earlier Yaesu speaker mic. I'll see if I can find it later. Good tip on using small zip ties to secure the mic cable to the belt clip, thanks for that! I must admit that I rarely use my FT-60 body worn, as I find the squelch control easily gets knocked which is a nuisance...i generally use my FT-65 or FT-70 in that way, with the -60 being kept for SOTA and the like, with the HT in front of me so I'm likely to be more aware of any inadvertent transmissions.
I bought an FT-60 about 8 months ago and love it. Simple to understand and use. I had a VX-7R that started having issues with intermittently going to tone squelch where it’s audio would stop. Took me forever to figure out what it was doing. I think at least for me the VX-7R is just over complicated with stuff I don’t need. The FT-60 for me is perfect.
Good to see you again Sir. Happy and blessed New Year.
I am surprised that no enterprising ham operator with a 3d printers has no made that extra ring that the original MH-34 came with. I also find it odd that Yaseu is still selling the FT-60 new 20 some years after it was released in 2004.
Yaseu FT-60 = FT-7800?
Nice video and great explanations ; this was helpful as I begin preparing an ecomm case for a pair of VHF radios. I wanted to ask about the specifica part you made the radials to the NMO connector for the ground plane antenna. Can you provide details on the parts?
Scott could you please measure the thickness of the radio at the top without the belt clip I read anywhere from 1”-1/3/4”. Thank you
Very insightful! Thank you!
