I know the smirk. It happened to me over 20 years ago and i can picture it perfectly. She knew i was devastated and she liked it. Now her health is going to shit or she’s faking for attention and financing. Yet i still am here questioning her being a narcissist.

It’s important to remember that there’s a scale of value to the supply that is provided by people so as you comply with everything they want your supplies value goes down. This is why you can’t win. You will devalue no matter what because you become common and routine. You are setup for failure.

I feel compelled to comment on any of these narcissist posts that these people do not get better. And if one of them is your parent PLEASE STOP TRYING. They get worse with age, and will guilt you into remaining in service to them based on all the faulty programming they've installed in you. You are not responsible for them at all. You did not ask to be born, and you certainly didn't ask to be born to them. LET GO. You have to ditch what society tells you about what a relationship with a parent is. These people didn't experience what you did. Whether they were abused or not. They aren't you. Do what's best for you and maybe get therapy to deal with the guilt and pity you have for them. But stop trying to get their approval. Stop.

Oh my gosh!! Do you know me?!! This totally explains my ex. He is a narcissist that also has extreme alcoholism. I think he was struggling with alcohol for many many years, but of course he hid it. He was always a narcissist but the alcohol makes it worse. He has no emotional connection at all with his mother. They lived in the same house of course growing up, be she was never present in his life. I think he was lonely as a child and has made up an alter arrogant ego that he cant part with. He would tell her all these dramatic lies, about what he owned, his job position, his 401K savings.... complete lies. She would verbally express praise, but never showed up for him in childhood or adulthood. He took his anger out on me, verbally and physically. He says he is the best looking man, all women want him, he is the most athletic, he is the best in bed, etc etc etc. we have 3 kids. He is jealous of our kids. He is not there for them at all, emotionally, physically, or financially. When/if he talks to them its stories that he makes up bragging about himself. He is pathetic.

Stumbled upon this video, yes I was with a neglectful covert narcissist, this explains everything perfectly, thank you. He was great in the beginning, all lies though 😢 Just hooked me in to hurt me later. Now I've been discarded and I was to blame, he said I complained so much that he had to leave 😢

This is what made me find answers to my dilemma. I watch this all my life and the man always goes to jail. Then I looked into the family and saw men walking around like a hurt puppy that chewed the couch but they walked around like this all the time. They started the argument in the bed room and took it to the living room and then they shut down and it always looked like I started the argument and was a ass to them. I figured it all out.
