Otis Hook Switch
There were two actual problems originally with this elevator. The first was a bad coil in the 10C relay which we find pretty quick and then the hook switch problem. These hook switches are not exactly easy to access.

On call again and these are the first couple. Not much going on but that's nice for the weekend. Thanks for watching.
Three Problems

It was of course awesome that I got a service call to go to just as I got home from the airport. As I was watching the video I could hear that something was off in the stepping but I missed it before I luckily found the broken coil wire on the ST relay. As always thanks for watching.
That elevator definitely needs some TLC.
I got 6 of them and haven't had much issues out of them
I had one shut down from a tide pod in the door track
Looks like an Electrical fire hazard?
As a 28 year proud IUEC elevator mechanic, u either got a something going on in your selector switch or a relay in controller.. not a valve because its isolated on 3rd floor... but that lit up tool bag is awsome
They need a modernization
If you lubricate the GAL door equipment with WD40 in each maintenance you can avoid that type of callbacks
What fluid are you using?
So my 77 year old mother lives in an old 1960's hotel, and her elevator occasionally breaks down. Now she refuses to use it, and she lives on the 6th floor. She's afraid that the elevator is just going to FALL straight down, because of cables snapping. What can I tell her to gain back her confidence? Links or anything would be greatly appreciated.
your videos are extremely helpful! thank you
I’m a fire alarm technician in training but have already done my fair share of stuff. I have a video on my channel where I fixed an issue with some fire alarm audible appliance circuits. I didn’t get the full thing on camera but I did show me fixing one of the issues.
It's amazing to imagine how a Sony picture tube monitor that is older than me can still keep a vital infrastructure running.
What mumbles? Spit the marbles out of your mouth and speak
Hello, I’ve always been wanting to enter the elevator mechanic/technician industry. I’m at the age of 19 and I’m based near Local 3. Any words of advise before I put in an application to become an apprentice in a couple months. Or is there any forums/groups that I can join so I can furthermore increase my knowledge on everything and how it goes?
Did you try the AUTO-V where it'll set on AC or DC by itself?
I think I will be leaving this channel. My health is not that good.
Play some better music in there to calm them old folks down.
No color coding. Hopefully numbered. Good find.
The panel looks like a black widow's Web Very dangerous be careful
Messy controller
how about learning to use terminal lug
What backward tv server is this?
Looks like old control panels actually look‼️
That looks like an icos60 rack under the crt screen
I’ve experienced one of the GAL Galaxy controllers on an old modernized Montgomery traction freight elevator. They are somewhat very complex.
The TSSA just released a statement indicating that skinny jeans have an increased ground potential. Good find Mr. Elevator Guy!
Do you also play space invaders 😊
I am scared of yhis *machine*
where is your safety Poles
Still a better watch than the BBC 😅
This thing looks like it survived Y2K
Crazy to see our lives are held at the mercy of a 40 year old B/W sony crt tv.
Without saying where but if this happens to be a new build, I kinda think I know the building or building(s) and let's just say its built as cheap as possible and now there are problems with everything.
he did pocket it
Looks tiny. How many floors?
I see you have the doors blocked out with the blue piece of paper just like us old Otis boys one word of advice be very careful because it’s a duplex some of those relays are still very live even if it’s switched off. Good luck😂
the dynamic duo is back fuck yeah
I totally enjoy their elevator machine room videos. I too am glad they are back.
Wow! Those are some old terminals and contactors, some look like latching and unlatching relays, not sure, never worked on an elevator control circuit......but,....Good job Aye..........
Good luck 🙏🏻
We were putting in different MRLs when I was in construction for Thyssen back when that name meant something. Now it’s just an acronym for an investment company that destroyed a once great Elevator name…
The real company Thyssen destroyed was Miami Elevator.
@@gliese909 never heard of it… now if you said Dover, that would make sense.
@@Mrjackietreehorn Dover and Miami were the same company. One owned the other.
MRL yep like you said this will be your horror job now.
Time bombs!
Christ how you supposed to work on that I recon cheep but not very cheerful
The orange ones replace those. They last WAY Longer.
I think shrack makes those
Intermittent issues are the worst, it doesn’t matter if it’s an elevator or a car
You are the best workman I have ever seen
I can’t keep enough on me. Always seems to be GR 1 and 2 or SFC for some reason.
Try looking at the safety circuit contacts could be dirty causing excessive current through the safety circuit line !
I remember doing the G4's during Covid and they used a batch of shit relays. 😂
if its a galaxy 4 it a piece of crap
Those are notorious they need to come up with a way to keep them from getting so hot. That’s what kills them
