Realistic Movies Don't Exist... And Why They Never Will
What's the most realistic movie you've ever seen and what makes it feel so authentic? In film and TV, certain shows and movies are praised for the way they capture real life. In this video, I examine the ways filmmakers accomplish realism through dialogue and explore if a movie can ever capture something truly real.

    Can you please stop using those ugly AI pictures in the background I don't know why you use it since you could easily find stock images And it's not even that the AI pictures look good most if not all of them are heavily distorted and downright gross looking and that sucks because the rest of the video is perfectly fine

    In the UK we have something called odeon limitless You pay a monthly £14.99 And you get any movie you want for free pick whatever seat you want for free 10% cimima snacks Premium stuff is payed yes but if you use it for a 3D movie £16.00 limitless cuts it to £2.00 but of course depends on what Odeon Here's my favourite thing tho I have a cimima what has screens what has only recliners now before I had to pay but then odeon desided to have 2 rows recliner plus (nothing special it's just the most picked ones) but with all the other recliners it's comes apart of imitless

    I figured it was normal to have surcharge for upgrade formats like Imax. Im surprised with AMC you can go to IMAX under the subscription with no extra charge actually. I live in a state where regal is about the only theater and like it for what it is. The discounts are great and I can pretty much see any movie I want under, but yeah surcharge for upgraded formats sucks. Also the convenience fee.... Like are they actually making any money on that 50 cents?

    • @politefan8141
      @politefan8141 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If Regal got rid of thier surcharge, I'd sign up for Unlimited in addition to A list because I'd like to see more movies in 4dx and ScreenX. The Regal by me is a really nice theater with a lounge and really cool decor. My AMC theater is more basic but has tons of screens and premium formats like Dolby and IMAX which is all that matters.

    I had movie pass for about 1-2 years back in 2012-13… I didn’t realize how much of a good deal it was at the time, I think you could only go to one movie a day, and you could only go see a movie once. I remember going to see Argo, and then wanting to go back the next day to see it again and it wouldn’t let me select it again…. But I just selected a different movie that I had no interest in that was playing around the same time, but still getting a ticket for Argo and then using the credit/debit card to buy the ticket. I ended up canceling it for some reason even though I should have keep it. But looks like it would have ended up being cancelled anyways. I only have regal movie theaters near me so I guess I’ll do that one now.

    I've always thought Superman was too powerful. Don't get me wrong, I found the first two Superman movies entertaining, but at the end of the first movie were he flies faster than the speed of light and reverses time is a perfect example of the problem the character has always had. It's also been a problem of DC Comics in general. Their characters and stories were always a bit corny. I've always been more of a Marvel fan. Marvel characters are superhuman, but they're not all powerful. Marvel characters also have human flaws as well. Would it be so terrible if Superman's speed was limited to the speed of light? Couldn't he use some of the Kyptonian technology in his rocket ship or Fortress of Solitude to supplement his powers and do things he couldn't do himself, like travel at warp speed or visit the past? Couldn't he have a library of Kyptonian knowledge in his Fortress of Solitude that would help him build such machines? I just think it would make Superman a more interesting character if he had some limitations on his powers that he has never had. I also think it would make for some more interesting story writing for the character as well.

    As someone who was a teenager around this time. Yes our flip phones were shit but we could still text on them. And some ppl had cool phones like blackberries and sidekicks. It is true that nobody filmed crazy shit tho. I started hs in 08 and finished in 12. By the final year smarthpones (primitive ones) were becoming more common. And ppl were starting to film things although quality much lower than smartphones today.. the difference was that this ability to be filmed was new so instead of being annoyed by being on camera we kind of enjoyed it haha. However before that some ppl did record stuff on super shitty flip phone cameras or enV3 cameras.

    I have Cinemark and I go on Tuesdays most of the time. It's $6 flat. I get snacks from Dollar Tree unless it's popcorn and overall it's a good value to me. The rollover credits are clutch and the points you accrue can be used for $ discounts on snacks or even a free movie ticket. When this subscription was 9.99 last year it was a no-brainer. Considering AMC stubs now but ~$20 a month toward movies automatically triggers my frugality 🤣

    This is the type of video that I'd consider as not belonging to TH-cam but inside the four walls of an academic institution. TH-cam doesn't carry credibility with it, but the structure of your examination of movies and shows is very interesting, introducing ideas I've been looking for, as I try to pull the wool from people's eyes about this notion that we exist and that there is such a thing as "reality." I looked for this video specifically because movies parallel fiction's fiction in the way our expectations of reality parallel something about nothing. It's sort of like Heissenberg's Dilemma: the mere fact of being observed makes films and shows always artificial no matter how mumblecore it gets. Perhaps one could stalk strangers without their knowing and later credit and pay them, and, by some chance, there would be enough "juicy" bits to cut from all the boring filming and turn it into a coherent film with a direction and structures, but would it really be real after escaping the cinema-equivalent of Heissenberg's Dilemma? I'd say no, for the sheer act of editing a movie into a structured, purposeful whole makes it fake (further skewering our expectations of reality, and even without, it would be so astronomically improbable that we'd be better off dismissing the very idea that anything behind a camera can ever be authentic while consistently entertaining, even unobserved. Entertainment and authenticity are as close to an impossibility (much like "two and two don't make four") as it gets for empirical phenomena (as opposed to analytic, such as equations, semantics, or logical principles). My goal is to prove that nothing exists, but this video really scratched an itch I really needed scratched for a very long time, thanks for that.

    I'll give the AMC Movie Pass a slight edge over the Regal Movie Pass. ONLY because there's no surcharges to reserve a seat in app & additional upcharges for 3D/Imax/4D. However, I've had the Regal Movie Pass for almost 2 years. Overall I can state that I'm actually very happy with it. I've done the 4D only 1x just to see what it's like (to quote Cesar in History of the World pt 1: Nice! Nice! Nothing Thrilling but Nice!). And maaaybe a couple of 3D. But overall, I'll take the Regal Movie Pass over the AMC Stubs, mostly because of: 1) I really do get unlimited movies (vs 3 a week with AMC). 2) the advanced showings of movies is a really nice feature and have used that numerous times. 3) 10% off of concessions (yeah I know, still spendy so I dont use it as much). 4) the points. $1=100 points. So I can actually get free concessions by using the points (mostly soda and popcorn). 5) I do like going to see 2 movies during an evening (and have done 3 movies 2 or 3 times in the almost 2 years I've had the Pass). And yes, I DO have a life!!! While I would have liked to do the AMC Stubs, I just happen to have a Regal Theater much closer to me. And getting the Regal Unlimited Movie pass made way more sense.

    If AMC hadn't closed down all of their best theaters where I live I'd have an AMC sub. If regal theaters upgraded their chairs from stadium to lounge reclining I'd have a regal sub. My cinemark theaters are not only cheaper but closer than other said theaters to where I live and they have luxury recliners on top of in theater ordering, full bars and special events every week. I therefore have a cinemark subscription. Just now finishing the video and kind of upset you didn't mention platinum at all. Also it's weird you say 11.99 when I only pay $10.81 including taxes every month
