Goldschmidt is the perfect stop gap for a year or two until Bryce comes along. As you said, great defense, decent power, good on base percentage... all at a bargain price.
Always has hit well in Oracle too. Veteran who’s shown positive leadership stuff, which seems like that the org is pushing for having gotten rid of guys like Joc and Kapler and bringing in Adames, Chapman, and Melvin to build a culture.
Any way the Giants leave Wade at first and sign a guy like Josh Bell who can be first base/dh he has a bit of a higher average than Goldschmidt/Santana? I do like both Goldschmidt and Santana though. Wade could still be used as that lefty bat while upgrading the offense? I’d like the Giants to give Matos a huge chance in Right.
Honestly if they get Goldy I’d imagine it would be as a near everyday player. Due to his age he may need some additional days off or at DH and that’s where Wade could be nice as a bench piece. I just don’t see them making that move with the intentions of platooning them.
Paul Goldschmidt was drafted the same year as Brandon Belt so in terms of age he’s ancient and since we have talked about Wade being slow the same thing is true about Paul. I’m completely on board with Diaz
For as old as Goldschmidt is, he’s still faster than Wade (23rd percentile vs 7th percentile). He also brings a bit of added upside power wise and wouldn’t shock me if he has one more good season in him. I’d still keep Wade as a bench piece and give him some starts at 1B.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS BURNS SIGNING IVE BOUGHT ALOT OF HOUSES AND WENT BACK AND FORTH A COUPLE OF DAYS THIS IS A BIG JOKE GIANTS DON'T GET BURNS THERE GOING TO BE A BIGGER JOKE THAN THEY ALREADY ARE HOPE THEY PULL IT OFF
This is just typical Boras stuff right now. He basically wants the Giants to bid against themselves and I don’t think the Giants believe for one second he’ll go to Toronto. At some point you have to say enough is enough and call their bluff otherwise you’re going to end up spending something ridiculous like $37M AAV for 8-9 years.

Ideally we could go trade for a guy like Yandy Diaz or Andrew Vaughn for that DH spot and sign Carlos Santana to a 1 year deal for that 1B spot.
Vaughn is from Santa Rosa. That's where I am too.

Yaz isn't a platoon at all in my eyes.
I think Buster could get Goldschmidt on a "discount" for a year or two and cut ties with Wilmer (sad) and we can mix and match Paul and Wade Jr at 1st

@ Yup 100% not a platoon role just like you said give goldy some extra rest and lamonte can be a key LH batter too.

Goldschmidt also stole 11 bags the past two years at age 35 and 36..that's quite rare for a 1B
Frankly I agree all three need to be ex Giants.

Lighten up. Baseball is entertainment first and foremost so don’t bust a blood vessel worrying about the business end of it. It’s not your money
