I’m loving spectrums new floating glazes they are so soft and not a blemish! I also share glaze combinations using amaco mayco and a few of my own glazes! This was a cone 6 slow cool firing! I use M370 plainsman clay unless otherwise stated, Todd likes to use coffee clay by plainsman as well! #spectrum #amaco #mayco #pottery #potteryhandmade #potteryglaze

New glazes are sooo exciting, when I saw spectrums new lineup of floating glazes, I couldn’t help myself and ordered them all! In this kiln load I also did a couple of experiments with glazes I already had! This kiln load was fired to cone 6 with a slow cool schedule! I used plainsman m370 for all the pieces! #potteryhandmade #ceramic #ceramicglaze #pottery #spectrum #mayco

how did u get the new spectrum glazes? i looked them up last night and they are all sold out. then i contacted my supplier who told me they have not been officially released yet. where did u buy them?
how do your trays stay flat? i watch Jas as well and made some trays and they warped. cone 5 2167F
Kim I appreciate your kiln openings so much! Thank you for taking the time to do this and for sharing
You are so welcome!
Hi there, where did you buy the Bailey's Red please?
Baileys red 2 is a glaze recipe in John Brit’s book exploring mid range glazes
@@undsethpottery Okay thank you!
Great kiln opening!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful pieces - thanks for showing us. Can you tell us which company has “mossy birch”?
My mistake, Spanish moss by spectrum
❤️❤️❤️
so how did you get rid of the pin holing? love your mugs :)
The new floating glazes seem to not pin hole and blister! If I do get pinching or blistering though I usually add a layer of honey flux and fire again!
Such beautiful pots!! Just love the tricolored mugs!!!
Thank you 😊
Nice!!!❤❤ love the combinations have a nice cool day!
Thank you 😊
Great stuff! What firing schedule are you using?
Top temp is 2190 hold 10 min drop to 2075 hold 30 min
@@undsethpottery thanks! I do the first hold but think I’ll ad the second and see if I get better results.
Love your glaze combinations Kim😊
Thank you 😊
@@undsethpotteryI want to make some! Green would be so pretty☺️
Hey.. Thank you for the shout out! And I love your pieces! I am going to try the same combo on my platter too.. it’s just stunning! 👏🏼👏🏼
Of course, such a great idea, thank you for sharing 😊
This was so helpful, thanks for showing us the new spectrum floating glazes.
You are very welcome
I love the new spectrum combos! I was surprised to hear that the new ones behaved better than the Kimchi, Sangria, Autumn Purple combo.
For me anyways, other people don’t seem to have problems with sangria but I sure do! I glazed a bunch more that are cooking in the kiln right now and from what I can see, not one ping hole or blisters!
Hi! Love the new Spectrum glazes! I think Bougainvillea is my favorite. We have bougainvillea in our backyard. It's so beautiful! Are the Spectrum glazes user friendly? Do they brush on nicely like Mayco and Amaco glazes?
These new glazes seem better than the previous ones more like amaco and mayco
@@undsethpottery Oh, good! Thank you.
Wow!! What a beautiful kiln load! Everyone is using the new spectrum glazes and I told my self I would NOT buy anymore glazes, I dont NEED them, don’t have the room and don’t need to spend the money. Let’s see how long it takes for all of that to go out the window!! lol.
Thank you! I really do love the new glaze! I just took a sneak peek in the kiln and it looks like another great glaze firing! Trust me, I did not need more glazes 😂
Hi...new subscriber here....its serendipity...I was just looking at the Spectrum glazes and here you are showing them! Thank You. you have a new friend in NJ
Awe, so glad to have you here woohoo 🙌
Thanks for sharing I was thinking about trying them now I know witch ones to try 1st
Awesome, yes I love them!
Hey, you did great with the bougainvillea! Perfect! Those new glazes are so pretty and you paired the colors so well.
Thank you 😊
Love the new spectrum glazes! Promised not to buy more glazes! But man that is hard😂
Yes, I was just going to use all my old glazes as well but I’m so glad I got them!
I love how you layered the new Spectrum glazes! I am so excited to try them!
Thank you 😊
Yes. I live spectrum glazes as well. I have some great glaze combinations. I haven’t experienced a problem With the sangria but I have been useing porcelain mainly. I really like the river rock glaze and that red 2 combo.
Oops!
Are you using midfire glazes? Love seeing your colors but the clay I have access to is low fire.
Yes my clay is a cone 5/6
So gorgeous
Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing! Love the new glazes❤
Thank you 😊
I love the fog vase and the River Rock/ Bailey Mug. I'll try your chip and dip trick. That sounds much better than throwing them together. So excited to try the new Spectrum glazes!
Thank you 😊
BOO GUN VEE YA :)
Thank you 😊
It's pronounced boo-gan-vee-lee-a
Thank you 😊
Hey Kim, I fill the garden flower idea with colourful rocks and water so the bees and butterflies can have a drink...works well and looks pretty
That’s a great idea!
Hi Kim, love those garden flower pieces. Another very informative episode.
Thank you 😊
Beautiful new glaze test
Thank you 😊

I am pretty excited. My new Spectrums are in the kiln now. Love the garden flowers! Bummer about the Sangria, again. Nice kiln opening!
Yes I was hopeful for the sangria, I used your firing schedule hoping that would work, it must be how I apply it!
@undsethpottery Maybe, but that doesn't explain why your other Spectrums turn out. It's a mystery!
Gah! How do you have these glazes already!? I am still not seeing them at US retailers.
Im in California and cant get the new spectrum glazes yet. Anyone in Canada want to help me out? I like the bougainvillea (boo-gan-ve-ya) Jessica
Thank you, helps to see it written out like that!
As always beautiful glazing. May I ask what the inside of a mosquito coil holder look like. Wanting to know how the coil is suspended. Thanks
Todd just cuts a metal bar, probably 1/4” thick and spray paints it black! I have seen some people use metal screwers, you can get them off of amazon!
@@undsethpottery thanks for the info
Amazing colors from the new Spectrum glazes. You did great pronouncing Bougainvillea, the L’s are silent, like “veeya” instead of “villa”. I love the purple over the turquoise. I guess it would be shallot over floating turquoise? And I’m wondering if Tampenade would be better over texture and a bit thicker. Hmm, looking forward to getting my hands of a sample pack. Thanks for sharing your results!
Thank you! I was thinking the tapenade would be more of a black color, I have a few more tests in the kiln, and one with that glaze on texture so we shall see!
It's pronounced boo-guhn-vee-yuh, it's a tropical flower bush. But yeah it IS super hard to say!! So fun to see examples of the new spectrums I love them all! Do you find the bougainvillea is much different from sangria??? Thanks!
Thank you, chances are, I still won’t be able to say it 😂 The colour is very similar in my opinion but I have some more tests in the kiln!
Great kiln opening..I love your combinations..thanks for sharing..I can’t pronounce it either, just call it the b word
@@nancy173good idea!
Did the Poppy Fields craze at Cone 6? That's the only problem I've found with firing Jungle Gems at higher temps. I love that Tangelo with it. Gorgeous!
No, I never noticed and crazing
I sponged on 3 coats of tangelo and got a perfect result!
Beautiful decals. Love the blue butterfly on blue and white mug
Thank you 🤗
What if the summer confetti was glazed to cone 5?
I think this glaze load was cone 5.5, so it wouldn’t make much difference
These are so pretty. Just love decals! It looks like the ornaments weren’t cleaned with alcohol before applying. If you use a non shedding cloth to clean the surface with alcohol it shouldn’t leave the holes like that. I was also thinking since the ornaments are flat maybe they got too hot since the entire piece is on the kiln shelf and the piece is so thin maybe it got too hot. Anyway they look great.
Thank you! I was wondering why they did that! I did not take the time to clean them, so that’s probably what happened! I think the water was too warm at the beginning also! Not sure if that would make a difference! Just a few did that! I hung the ornaments so they weren’t flat!
@@undsethpottery The water temp doesn’t matter. If it’s warm they come off the backing easier. You want to make sure to press all the air out from underneath beginning in the middle. Once you’ve got it on you can turn the piece on the light and see if there are bubbles underneath. If there are you can use warm water to get it wet and try again. Glad I could help.
Beautiful work. Would you be willing to do a video on how you apply the over glaze decals?
Thank you! Absolutely, next time I do them I will make a video!
Love the the decal mugs
Thank you 😊
Great kiln opening..ornaments so cute and love the horses
Thank you 🤗
Yes the blue mug and butterflies is gorgeous ! Of course the horse decals too :)
Thank you 😊
Kim, have you tried Magic Water for your handles and attachments. Use instead of slip after scoring. Thanks for your vid’s. #tinyheartspottery Magic Water Water - 1 Gallon Sodium Silicate (Liquid) - 3 Tablespoons Soda Ash - 1.5 Teaspons
I haven’t, I will have to try that! I use vinegar and it usually works very good! The studio is so dry in the winter which I think is the biggest problem!
such pretty glazes!
Thank you 😊
Thank you Kim, how refreshing to hear and see a fellow potter speak of the ultimate potter.
Awe thank you! He is my all in all!
