What a blessing you both are, thank you ,you have helped me so much. I almost quit pottery because glazing was so unpredictable. The glaze companies should give you all your glaze.❤
Hey Kim n Todd oh I love that platter first time I have liked muddy waters!! Would love to see making the swirl platter. Love the idea of tumbler in ww LF might do that on a straw tumbler. Nice unload. Nat xx
Ooh I absolutely love the ancient copper and Aurora green combo!! The muddy waters is always soo beautiful!! I’m glad you shared my “mistake” with the Amber topaz! I’m so glad you messed up the glaze combo because it’s definitely one of my favorites now. I also glazed a few pieces with desert dusk which has the base glaze of amber topaz. Cant wait to see how it turns out.
Hi you two! Everything looks great, again! I make my swirl bowls from a slab but I am really looking forward to seeing how you make yours! Do you weight your platters?...and if so, what weights are you using? They are always so flat and beautiful! I am going to try your subscriber's version. That sounds lovely! Have a great Saskatchewan day!
Todd doesn’t weigh the clay, he does have a slab cutter so he uses the same amount of clay each time! I think the secret to the flatness though is slow drying under plastic on sheets of drywall!
Baileys Red reminds me a lot of Copper Float or Ancient Copper. Did you get that off of Glazy? If you don't mind sharing which version you use, I'd love to try it. I like hearing the names of your glaze combos. Thanks for posting the new combo. I'm looking for ways to use the Aurora green that don't look like a petri dish! LOL I think it needs to be on a vertical surface. Did you use any flux on that? Or did it just run where it was over the Ancient Copper? Great pieces guys! Thanks for sharing.
The baileys red 2 recipe was in John Britt’s book exploring mid range glazes! For the new combination it was just ancient copper and aura green! Thanks you for your kind words 😊
Good kiln load as ever. I love all your combinations. Could I ask for some advice. I made a large oval platter at my pottery group. It is put on silica sand when kilned. Unfortunately it cracked into pieces. There was no glaze on the inside of the cracks How do you get your platters so flat. I love them. Going to have another go next week. Any tips would gratefully be received. Jeanette 🇬🇧
Platters can been so frustrating, between cracking and warping! Todd dries them very slow on a piece of drywall, under plastic, the drywall absorbs some of the moisture which helps with even drying!
I do like your glaze combo names, it gives them personality! Oh I always loved prairie storms! I grew up just south east of Swift Current! I like your Glacier combo, do you water down your poured glazes for the poured glazes? Thanks for sharing your prices with us!
I love that, where are you living now? We got snow during the night and the wind is blowing like crazy, so there is 3 feet of snow in some places! I just pour straight from the bottle, if they are too thick, I do think a bit!
Thank you! IT depends, I as the engobe before bisque if it’s a piece that needs a dipping glaze! I apply it to the bisque piece if I’m just hand painting glaze as it doesn’t really matter!
Love the names! + On the muddy waters plater... how many coats and what do you fire to (i.e where in the kiln did it sit)? My muddy waters does not have enough blue and comes out matte (that said my kiln got to cone 7 this time). Much thanks for all your efforts - your glazes are beautiful!
I usually put the muddy waters on the middle shelves and my fitting gets to cone 5.5. With muddy waters you have to make sure you get lots of crystals, I do three good coats!

Oh my gosh thank you, what a huge compliment, so glad we were able to inspire you 😊
I care what you call your combos!! The names are so descriptive!
Thank you 😊
I also love the names you make for your pieces.
thank you for the smiles. Jessica
Thanks for sharing. We are under a snowfall warning that was supposed to start last night but so far nothing but a little rain SE Sask
We have some snow and it is very windy out there, winter has begun!
I love hearing what you call your combos. And I too would love to see a swirl chip bowl demo.
Thank you for sharing! Love the new combo with aurora!
Thank you 😊

@undsethpottery Ok, thanks. I am sure both of those factors make the difference!

@ I grew up in Gravelbourg, now I live in Salmon Arm, BC. Whenever I get back to Sask., I’m definately coming to meet you both! (And shop of course!)
I do care - it helps if I want to order something
Thank you 😊
I love the names for your glaze combos! At what stage do you apply the engobes?
Thank you!
