    I bought a Deauville a few months ago and can I say, it is the worst bike I've owned. Coming from a VFR750, it drinks fuel, is ungodly slow, makes a hateful noise and is not even that comfortable. It is heavy, with a weird weight distribution, the saddle boxes aren't really big enough, and to top it all, it's not even reliable. Mine has full Honda, main dealer service, and already, the carb boots have split, the clutch is slowly but surely on its way out and I had a strange issue where the bike felt like it was brakng itself, when I tried to pull away from some lights, no amount of throttle would get it to move. After a snapping sound and a burnout, it eventually moved and no issues since, but now frightened to take it out, through fear of another shaft drive issues, but god forbid, at high speed! Do not buy one of these, even if yours is reliable, as I know they can be, they are boring, slow, ugly, not overly comfortable and get worse economy than the much faster VFR, with it's intoxicating V4, and the Pan- European with it's creamy engine and touring skills. Dullsville.

      Thanks for watching I’m sorry you didn’t get along with your deauville. Many people ride bikes for many different reasons and not all bikes suit all people. The deauville has always had its critics and always had those that swear by them. The vfr and the pan are both great bikes and have a well earned reputation for reliability and I infact ride a vfr1200 nowadays which I love but I have and always will and always will have a soft spot spot for the deauville.

    I'm looking around to see if any one has made a 3d printable version, as the hardware wouldn't be too hard to source, as of the barrel hex nuts and a bit of threaded rod, or to hacksaw some bolts down to add some locktight. I think I would be able to make those in a afternoon, as to while their being printed to go for a ride to the local hardware. I might have to do it myself, to make up the prints. Why 3d print my own, Approximately AU $75.34 off eBay.. and would take me probably a month + to be delivered. As I said, could probably have them in one afternoon.. and no where near that price. The other flip of the coin to this is.. to make a bracket for an off the shelf mirror, of the 8mm/10mm single bolt variety.. for when your waiting around to get a replacement off a dead bike sent from the bottom end of the world.

    I need to see other video's of people that have original exhaust, this video is cheating me, for knowing how any one else would do with an original. Mine has an ugly paint code.. Seville Blue.. PB-297M.. a can of spray paint on eBay is priced under $60aud.. for 400ml... probably because no one want's to have that colour in a bike or car.. it looks purple than blue.. no Chinese version of a can of that.

    Your bike and your money it goes without saying ... But your bike will love you so much more if you run it on Super-unleaded fuel... Run it for a month on 97/99 octane super-unleaded fuel ..You won't go back to 95 octane regular fuel I promise you...I think it is about 10p a litre more expensive... A mere £1 on a ten litre "Top up"

    Greetings from Latvia! 😉I have NT700VA (2013). 25,000 km. There is a problem with the noise when driving, in any gear, at the moment between load and rolling, there is a clicking noise that all Devilles have when you lift it on the center leg and put it in 1 or 2 gear. I don't know if it's supposed to make a rattling sound while driving, but the noise seems to come from the front of the shaft drive. Oils have been changed everywhere, everything has been monitored, but I have not removed the shaft drive. Now I ordered a wheel damper kit, I will start with its replacement. What do you think, is this a problem? Thank you, have a nice day!😉

    • @biker1k

      All transmission on all Deauville’s are known for being noisy. Specifically for the 700 I can’t comment as I’ve not owned one. If your concerned it might be worth pulling the shaft apart and inspecting the inner splines. Other than that. Can’t hep

    1:14 Apparently my mechanic applied lithium grease instead of MoS2 grease on the splines as the manual recommends when he changed the final drive because of wear. I am planning on using the right grease this time but I got two problems. 1) How much of the final drive should I dismantle to clean the old lithium grease? 2) What is the brand of that grease? I have been checking on the internet and my town but I can't seem to find the right product. It doesn't need to be the exact one you use but I'd like to buy one that I know it's going to work for sure.

    • @biker1k
      @biker1k 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi thanks for your comment 1) The grease you use does not matter so long as it’s 60% molybendium paste. Honda dealers sell 3% molybendium but it’s not sufficient. Search eBay for 60% molybendium paste and you should have some options. 2) it’s the splines at the rear wheel which are prone to stripping if not greased. If you want to go belt and braces you can pull the shaft like I did in the video bits it’s normally just the splines at the rear wheel. Hope this helps

    I have used a screwdriver to hold the universal joints Somewhat straight, I think you call it a cross joint or something like that in the UK.. another way to lube that would be.. pull the boot back, so you can see where are the driveshaft splines mesh with the universal joint. Pull the assembly back just enough to get some EP grease on the splines without pulling the driveshaft completely out of the universal joint. just pull the assembly and the driveshaft back maybe an inch/25 mm, and insert a grease gun hose with a grease needle attachment.. I just bought one of these machines, NT 700 Honda Deauville here in 2023.. it’s a 2010 with 7500 miles on it from the original owner.. when I buy a machine used, I always assume everything has been neglected, from brake fluid to fork oil.. thanks for the video, very useful information.. I also have a Yamaha royal star venture currently, 2008. I have done the driveshaft splines on that. near the swingarm pivot on the Drive shaft tube. There is a hole with a rubber plug in it to give access to stabilize the universal joint so that the driveshaft can be re-inserted… might not be a bad idea to drill a hole in the housing right near the universal joint on this machine to stabilize the universal joint for that purpose.. hey hole just large enough to insert a flat blade screwdriver, maybe 15 mm. I would make sure I could get a plug to fit whatever hole I want to drill before drilling that hole. The Yamaha ventures have that rubber plug that is just about the right size for that task.

    I need to get out there, I have raced motocross since I was 5 until I was 32. I joined Army and got my HGV class 1 licenses and now drive professionally for a fuel tanker company. There is a certain comradery between fellow bikers and HGV drivers and we understand each other I have noticed, especially me being a biker. Long overdue I got my full bike license, with a means to ride with my father who was also a biker naturally and had a Yamaha VMAX. Unfortunately he passed away before our plans to ride to Scotland as father and son. He left me his Yamaha VMAX 1200. I want to ride in his honour now I miss him so much. He really taught me how to ride and race motocross as an ex motocross rider himself and I won many races from his nurturing and teachings. I'm 38 now but I want to keep his VMAX for sentimental purposes but also want another bike. I need to get out there for him. Seeing this video has really gave me the kick up the ass I need. Just bite the bullet and get out there and ride the vmax. If your local to Devon I’ll go out for a ride with you. HGV driving and motorbikes somehow seem to go hand in hand and lots of truckers are bikers too. They way I teach people too drive HGV is so similar to how people are taught to ride bikes as in the forward planning and awareness skills required to survive the other shall we say road users instead of idiots out there. Keep both the bike and the tankers shiny side up and one day I’ll catch you in the flip flop

    As a 21 year old CBT rider (hoping to be on the Deauville 650 I bought by next year) this hits wonderfully, a lovely video of Devon as well, I used to go to Dawlish from Essex at least once every two years when I was a child, you have filled me with excitement to get the A2 course completed and go on some tours with my mates :-) you've made my day.

      @@biker1k you have encouraged me a lot my friend, thank you so much 🙂 I will be booking an A2 the moment I get my TX125 running, as I have been riding a Honda Vision 110 around for nearly 2 years now and I am not confident at all with gears yet.

    I have an year ‘00, I just had all the fairings off to change the spark plugs, I wondered what the spare wiring was for, but why are two of them dedicated for speakers ? Not sure I’m a fan of the indicator beepers, but at least it won’t leave them on 😂 Good job on the LEDs though. Hopefully see you out and about or working on your new matching at some point.

    • @biker1k
      @biker1k 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The extra wiring is for speakers and heated grips officially (yes you could get a stereo for the deauville). Beepers are great for not forgetting but can be annoying sometimes lol Thanks for watching
