We're here to talk about video games - the good, the bad, and everything else. We'll cover the stories, gameplay, music, graphics, and more on games both adored and reviled on all systems (as long as they're still around or can be found).
Hopefully, you'll discover some great new titles to play, or be fairly warned before you grab something you won't like. It's kinda like a public service, if you think about it. So come join in the fun (and the occasional misery) as we dive deep into the games that made us who we are.
Oh, and I also take suggestions on games from time to time so feel free to throw them in the comments!

Golgo 13 Is The Hardest Game You've Never Played
The longest running Manga still in print brings an assassin for hire to the NES. Golgo 13, legendary badass and killer of men is in Berlin, chasing down a secret organization and his beloved M-16 at the same time. Is it a great game? Yes! Is it awful and frustrating? Yes! It's both! I'll try to explain.

I had it on a commodore 128, poor little 64 kids lol
there's actually a patch that adds a 2 player mode for the main game, I've tried playing it on a real NES and it actually works, but even without that hack I still prefer the NES version because the gameplay is so much better, the fighting in the SMS just doesn't feel right cause the stun frames are so short
I can imagine any patches would open up the chance of more issues, but anyone putting together new ways to enjoy these games is good in my book
The NES version was the first one I played and stands as my favorite, as it was one of the very first video games I ever played when I was a kid.
It's still a trip down memory lane game for me every time!
I wonder what are your thoughts on thimbleweed park with this game in mind
Thimbleweed Park is an absolute masterpiece in its own right, I loved it. It's hard to draw a direct comparison because MM always had this sense of "I'm about to get caught" that Thimbleweed didn't give me. Maybe it was just in my head, but I think they're both awesome
Oh god, doom was a joke nobody had that everybody played doom but they played it on the pc. Some people never paid for the last two levels and just played the first world but the snes release was just a cash in not a real release. Demon’s Crest pushed the console way beyond what people thought was possible and was one of the games that kept selling it into the n64s lifespan.
I never got into Doom much myself, I know a lot of people still play it and make new levels though so there's clearly enough there to keep the fandom alive. I wish they'd do something like that with games like Demon's Crest
I like Legend of Kage on nes. It was an arcade game and I like arcade games more then nes games trying to have some long story. It’s why I like Atari games so much too. Pick up play and get good.
6/10
What software do you use to make the TV with static & video clips? (Begins at 0:50)

Great review and great game. Love it
Religious right? Whoa, slow-down, bro. Censorship has always been the domain of southern democrats. Educate yourself on who was behind the "Hayes Code" in Hollywood, the establishment of "The Comics Code Authority", "Parental Advisory" labels on music, and even the ESRB. Categorically, it was all Democrats. Same for the parent groups such as "Mothers Against Dungeons and Dragons".
such a great game!
the music was top! always kept me on edge while running around that house! :) love this game
1:30 I think it was actually developed by there guys. They had an artist and a programmer at first. The lead programmer worked on the engine at first and but also wrote a scripting language(called the Scumm System) for the game so they wouldn't have to write the whole thing in assembly. After he got the Scumm system working they would bring on another programming to do most of the scripting using the scumm language, while the original programmer kept working on the engine and the scumm system itself.
You can feed the metor to the plant, so four endings. Five if you include the hybrid of giving him the book deal and calling the police.
judh3nschvvin.
The 0nly thing that got me mad about tis game it's Hard as Heck🔥 I never gotten the Final Ending. I never knew there was other Endings?? Until I beat the second time, the Ending was Different🤔 So I try and try I Never Got it! It was the bonus level🤬🤬🤬! This was 0ne Game I left alone & let it turn to stone like the Gargoyle it is.
Although I loved the plots, I was never good at the old Sierra and LucasArts adventure games. I like watching other people play. I get stuck, and then frustrated.
One of my favorite NES games. In my opinion, it is vastly superior to the PC version.
"One of the better SNES games. 6/10"
Quite frankly.. the combat is the only decent thing. The rest of the systems are too much fluff that take away from what is actually fun.
I do think they tried to cater to too many audiences at once, that's fair to say. For an indie I got enough out of it to give it a good score though
Maniac Mansion has not aged well in certain aspects (the envelope puzzle can kiss my ass!), but it is still a great game for the variety of different solutions and endings the game has.
I grew up in the early 2000s, but my mom had a bunch of games for the SNES, including this one. I was never able to be it as a kid, and have been meaning to dig it out and try and beat it, but mostly, I'm glad it seems to be getting more recognition after being released in the virtual console for the Switch.
Be warned, it gets hard af haha
As a kid, because of the name (Goonies II), I assumed there was a Goonies 2 movie that this game was based off of and I had just never seen it.
I've always loved this game but the constant need to access a menu to switch forms or projectiles definitely does detract from the overall game. How Capcom didn't think to map this to buttons like in the Mega Man X series is beyond me.
I agree, the menu was a constant distraction for me, too
In my mind this is actually part of the Mana series, and there are only 3 games in it. Crystalis > Secret of Mana > Chrono Trigger (in chronological order). Hero with a holy sword? check. Evil empire? check. 4heavenly kings/generals? check. Magic and technology? check. Flying fortress of doom? check. It just isn't the same without some combination of the above tropes. This is why other Mana games tend to miss the mark in terms of nostalgia.
Ever thought of the ending where you defeat the reborn at the colosseum, phalanx.
King Arthur in the gold armor vs Firebrand with all his powers. Who will win?
Does Arthur get extra lives....?
Loved and hated this game. It was as frustrating as clock tower
Demon's crest needs a re-release
It is available on the Switch Online SNES games.
@8:51 Lucasfilm censored several elements of the original game. However, Nintendo of America had its own censorship system and did not approve of the game the way it was ported over initially and ordered several changes before they approved and manufactureed the game. However, after manufacturing 250,000 cartridges, Nintendo noticed the microwavable hamster and Jaleco/Lucasfilm had to remove it from any future orders of cartridges. This wasnt a big deal in North America because they never needed to order any more cartridges, but they still needed to place orders for the European market (no microwavable hamster in Europe).
Still my all time favorite OST 🎸
On my top 10, this game is great. Ill accept no hate
I love Demons Crest. It made me want to headbutt my problems like Firebrand does. Also I love the crests changing Firebrand into different versions.
@@loganhayse8771 they just don't make games like they used to...
Ahh yea, the game Crysalis... thing you forgot the T in there homie.
Great review of this under rated gem. One of my favorite games. Played the game boy games and they were fun but nothing like this. Hopefully they would release another game in the near future.
@@songsan807 we can only hope!!
I don’t agree about the music. In a time when videogame soundtracks were all heroic and upbeat, demons crest dared to sound melancholic.
It was certainly an interesting choice. Not my favorite, but I can see the merit in taking a chance.
I friggin loved it
Demon's crest will forever be one of my top 10 favourite games and my absolute favourite SNES game
No why did you make this video xD
@@reginaldd.paperstacks194 same reason you commented
We know it as FF3 but in reality it's actually FF6 cuz of Licensing of Square Enix of Japan wouldn't allow it under it's actual name FF6 so Square Enix of USA gave it the title FF3 Duh!
Spoiler? Omg it's 30 years old... Spoiler warning: the titanic sank
WELL DAMN DUDE. Now I can't even watch that movie, thanks. Next you're gonna tell me Darth Vader is Anakin or something.
And by the sounds of it you never found the difficulty tent thing... theres a place on the map that can change the wilds difficulty but increases their chance for better stats and I think maybe even shiny chance but this also increases their HP, ATK, etc.... youll get stomped i promise you
@richardembree1848 Yeah, I played the pre-release, but I know they had a lot of plans for future additions, as well.
fyi when sealing them you can just use their icons on the top of the screen... click your seal that you wanna use pauses the game (as im sure your aware) then you just go to the top instead of trying to click the monster... this helps drastically especially when shiny hunting and enemies can die within the first couple milliseconds of hitting start lol
Very helpful, thank you!

When you said you have little experience i thought you had little but my god you have none
@zeanone9257 there's a benefit to an outsider's point of view, though. And I told the developers that when they reached out, so consider it from that angle.
It's kinda funny to hear the final verdict be that with a little more effort they could have had something really good, because it sounds like a lack of effort was absolutely NOT the problem here. A surplus of effort leading to a ton of extra modes and advanced things like first person perspective mazes on the NES, but where no element is polished enough to be well-done fun though, that soubds like the issue. Still, if it all ends with me being impressed that they managed to get all this in one cart, I guess gambling on more but less-refined content is a pretty good gamble in the end.
@goranisacson2502 that's a fair take. I guess my point was if they'd focused on the gameplay a little more than making the story as detailed as they did, which they also did kinda poorly, I would have enjoyed it more. If that meant reducing a few modes that would have been fine with me
MM was a staple of my childhood. It brought my siblings together. ❤
@@inoshikachokonoyarobakayar2493 I love to hear those memories!!
interesting game. I don't think we ever got a James bond video game on the NES, or famicom. Theres definitely a lot of variety here. I'm not a fan of mazes, and I really dislike that there is no passwords. Still, this was a great video and described the game as a whole. I liked it a lot.
@SpiritGamesTV heck yeah!! The no passwords part was just cold blooded lol
I love this game! The Mafat Conspiracy is pretty legit too. Same style of game play but, you can duck and shoot in this one!
@tylerbowling ducking and shooting would be a marked improvement lol - I will definitely give it a shot
