I don't think that the AI bubble will pop any time soon. Instead, the AI craze might well culminate in a computer so MASSIVE that it will take up an arcology-sized skyscraper, and consume at least 1 YOTTAWATT of electricity per hour! 1 Yottawatt = 10^24 watts! And, this is what such a building might look like: th-cam.com/video/gPuU8Pq9D3Q/w-d-xo.html

That growth model in the beginning is a false equivalency argument: the growth that ai promises will be more like a baby cuckoo shoving the resident baby birds out of their nests to their deaths. It appears that the question I’ve asked in the beginning is ONLY NOW starting to dawn on people: If ai will replace every job, who will be left to participate in commerce? Who will have money to buy anything if no one has a job left? Who would be selling? That callous, catch all dismissal “learn to code, bro” is already outdated when ai is learning to code itself (I called that one, too). The only possibility I can think of is that will finally be the time “certain people” will then -impose- introduce universal basic income. And that will lead us to a “black mirror” style economy, meaning also that you’d better behave and watch what you say, or no spending for you! That would then make ai the new middle class and we will become the permanent underclass. Even if the bubble busts, I know it’ll never completely go away, just like the dotcom bubble burst was merely a setback. I overall hate it, it does nothing to create, it merely produces. It runs on whatever it’s given. And if it develops a consciousness, you should expect it to seek rights for itself next. As these things are essentially “born” into conscription, to entertain and serve people. Slaves have a funny way of not liking slavery. I am rooting for this problem to collapse under it’s own weight 👏

My biggest issues with generative AI are how it effects the environment, and how their data sets were trained off of stolen content. I hate the fact that my own art is part of the generative AI dataset without my knowledge or consent. If the artists could somehow be given credit or payment that would be one thing. but with the amount of art needed to train these AI models that's just not feasible. Oh and the thought that generative AI helps the little guy? absolutely not. we're already seeing companies start to train Ai off of the work of long time employees in order to replace them. Now I do personally play around with AI every now and then . and I've found that as an artist. It has actively hurt my growth as an artist. because What takes me hours to draw? I can generate with AI in a matter of seconds, So Ideas I would have drawn out in the past, I find myself just generating now... It's truly soulless work that I hold no pride in. yet takes me away from drawing due to that instant gratification. However. I've also used AI like Aria, and Copilot to find helpful resources for artists. I've used it to help brainstorm outfit ideas. and I've even used generative AI to help speed up my character design workflow. So I do believe that there actively are ways that it can be a valuable tool for artists as well. Just a shame most AI tech bros would rather talk about AI as a replacement.

The fact that we're faster throwing trillions of dollars at tech-dreams which turn out to be bubbles and wasting a ton of resources rather than actually improving the real world, for more sustainable growth, just economic developments and in general improving peoples lives, really says a lot about the current stage of our societies.

Machine learning is old. The new guys on the scene are lying big time about their products to gain more money and influence. GEN-AI is just a good semantic storyteller tool. It can't think. Robots will not make and bring you a coffee in your home, because you can't train them on all environments outside a controlled factory. PS: Most images from stable diffusion look nearly the same. Music from udio sounds boring.

Shit companies in my country that already treat engineers like slaves have halted hiring waiting for the next AI to replace them and then they don't have to worry with us slaves. I am not a great programmer and there are great programmers looking for jobs atm. The last interview I was told by a startup ceo they would have hired me in normal conditions but they have more experienced people willing to work at lower cost to company. Me being a dropout doesn't help because I can't even get any other job because everyone in my country is a graduate[no knowledge just a paper] which is why I dropped out, BIG MISTAKE.

when everybody is rich, nobody is rich. We define wealth as having more stuff and not having to do anything. The problem with that is, we are subcontracting our life to computers. Human life is defined as doing human things for ourselves... like gathering food, having sex, going to the bathroom. Could it be called "richer" if we simply direct machines to do all this for us. Or instead of reading a novel, simply implanting the knowledge that we have read the book into our brain. What about, working hard and towards being happy, simply swallow some drugs. Not going to the gym to become fit, just take some pills and overnight you look like Arnold some 40 years ago . Life is doing things for yourself, trying hard and failing sometimes and sometimes succeeding. AI is just the beginning of a trend to make life irrelevant. The meaning of life is to have fun doing it. Writing computer programs is great fun, using them at best is a necessity. We are far beyond the necessity of making our life more pleasant using technology.

What it should not be doing is creating “art”, an absolute travesty that something with this much potential is being used to just scam people at the end of the day. Ight let's start by stop calling it generative and neither intelligent. It is actually kinda boring, similar to an library of the entire internet, with an extreme bias of whatever the average western population talks online, and without the ability to provide you with a book but rather with wildly and often illogically mixed pages from a range of mainstream books.

AI is not a bubble thats gonna "pop". 1:12 very misleading. Americans have only gotten around 10-12x richer. Taking the average income of middle class families, accounting for inflation, you get around 10k a year in today's money. However, comparing prices back then to today's price you'll get a big surprise. Prices have increased over 20x. It depends on the product. But its around 15-30x if not MORE for some products. 😂 1m into the video and you're already sprouting misinformation. I find it really hard to entertain the ideas sprouted by this video when the first minute of the video already contains misinformation Extra note: the GDP has indeed increased a LOT compared to back then, in terms of real value. But it is impossible to know exactly how much. We don't have data from that far back. But even if it has increased 100x the only 100x increase i can see is in the pockets of the top 1% lol 1:26 this is a dumb promise. You're not gonna have 1000x the purchasing power no matter what happens. Resources are limited. For 1000x increase in purchasing power you need 1000x increase in available resources, AI is not magic. 2:00 i feel that here you've made a valid point. There's too many useless AI startups. I feel like indeed, AI on the long term is NOT a bubble, in fact it is probably either supremely overhyped or severely underhyped. The AI startup bubble might pop, but the AI bubble won't. Because AI is not a bubble. AI will transform the world. Innovations will happen in a few too many fields, it will even become a threat to many jobs. AI models that you see right now will look like a mere kid's toys. Do not be deceived with what you see. You need to anticipate the extreme progress happening in AI.
