United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 พ.ย. 2020
Good afternoon. I am a senior in years but a junior in spirit. Come join me and share the moments of my adventures, my senior moments. I have traveled and adventured for years, mostly sharing snippets of images and videos with friends and family. After Covid-19 changed our lives, I decided to record my adventures and travels so a larger audience could enjoy them. Live young and discover!
Do not buy this bike. Buy this Bike.
I own a 2023 KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle. Instead of a review of the bike, I give you reasons why you should buy this bike; and reasons why you should not buy this bike. At the end of the video, I reveal whether, given the opportunity again, would I buy this bike.

Been up there a few times in that area always really enjoyed my visits I really like it
I also downsized from large sport touring motorcycles- last bike was a Honda ST1300 - to a smaller adventure style motorcycle. After 40 years of riding my age was catching up to me and all the reasons you articulated are the same for me. I ended up with a 2024 Versys 300X. Preferred tubeless tires but the closest KTM dealer is over two hours away, so the Versys won out based on local service. Enjoying catching up on your videos. Cheers from Canada
then l also can do it.. tq Sir

Great review, Bruce, I appreciate your work in making these videos!
Glad you like them!
One of the best reviews ever. Great job my friend.
There’s a great deal on one of these right now at my local dealership. $3k off, but I own a DR650 already, which is pretty close to what the 390 does.
Can't hear shit
This 70 y/o loves my 2023 KTM Adventure. Standing is solved by a riser AND level aftermarket foot pegs. Re: rider confidence -- I think it comes down to the fact that it is extremely responsive to rider input. It's like a well-trained horse responding to the rider's aids. The only thing it's decidedly not for is trying to pass semi-s in high winds on the Interstate. Otherwise, it will do it.
well said
GOOD VİEW
Your organized thoughtful review is appreciated, by another senior rider.
In terms of riding ergonomics KTM bikes are at the top end in their category. Reliability sadly seems a different thing. My 890 is top fun to ride for now 3 years and 19.000 km. No issues so far.
I am a bit weary of buying a KTM at the moment since they have gone into voluntary administration. I will wait until at least the new year to find out the direction of the brand. All the best from the UK.
It is now 100% confirmed that KTM won’t be able to pay the November and December salaries or the bonues, despite what they ahd said literally four days ago. And now the Austrian authority for the stock exchange has put KTM under investigation about whether or not it complied with all the rules when it suddenly changed its guidance earlier on this year. They think it witheld information that would have unveiled the upcoming bankruptcy.
KTM is in very big financial trouble and for that reason I don't dare to buy a KTM anymore. The question is if the company goes bankrupt you will still be able to get parts.
My 2021 model has around 12500 miles on it. It is overwhelmingly reliable except if you're heavier, that suspension sucks for off road and will blow out fork seals since mine has twice. Now that i ride only on road, I love it. The power to weight ratio makes that 44 hp very useful for highest travel. I can cruise 75 easy and more of needed. If you live somewhere where it's windy often, the low weight will toss you around on the open road which is irritating. Overall, it is reliable and it is fun.
CFMoto 450MT will sort out just about all the 'don't buy' issues of your KTM390. And don't compare the weight with the T7, the T7 is so top heavy, the MT carries it's weight very low.
Good to see you again. Very good motorcycle and yes, light. Happy holidays.
Glad to hear that you’d buy the 390 again (I’m one who urged you to when you were in the market). I still have mine (1st year). You can easily fix the tilted foot peg issue by sending some $$$ to Black Dog Motorcycle Accessories. Level, perfect for standing, and the easiest peg “swap” I’ve ever done…
Great video and so “Bruce”! He just does his thing and enjoys being himself and the way he looks at the world is very interesting. Merry Christmas
Bruce, did you try reversing your handlebar risers, to give you more room?
ill look into that
Thanks, Bruce for that. Great video. Yeah, it’s amazing. What’s happening with KTM right now. smaller bites do give us a lot more confidence able to put your feet down easily and handle it. What are your thoughts on the new KTM 390 they’ve done a lot of upgrades to it what do you think? Thank you very much for the video. looking forward to your next one.
The new KTM looks to be more off-road oriented. We will see once it is released - and depending on solvency of KTM.
I think I would pick my Kawasaki versus 300 over that one just because of dealer support and reliability.
Solo picking up an adventure bike- Eastbound Cycle Lift👍fits in a saddlebag or a backpack
I have one that I used with my T7 (a necessity!) but I don't need to take it now. I save the space plus the extra 5 pounds.
What was your reasoning behind a small ADV bike? Why not go with a dual sport? Is it because you wanted/needed to do more highway miles?
I ride 75% pavement and 25% off-pavement. I also carry camping gear so an ADV bike suits my overall purpose better than a dual sport for most of my riding.
I've seen several previous model year 390 Adventures here in South Florida for $5200-$5500, new. It was never really on my radar (can't get past the alien looking headlight)... But at those prices, it is.
Those are great prices, no doubt because of the company feeling cornered. Bought my leftover 2023 in May this year for $5,800 (instead of MSRP $7,499). Love it.
@RYwoodview I've heard it's as reliable as a KTM could ever dream of... Your thoughts? Also highway capability? I can't shake my dream of a coast to coast (mostly road) ride... Highway would be a must to do that.
@@papertiger795 It may be the most reliable KTM Adv currently made. Aside from the electronics, it is a pretty simple bike. Highways? I would ride it on an Interstate, but there are more comfortable (bigger) bikes for that. It is small & light enough that it is susceptible to the wind, also when passing beg vehicles. It's really for twisties & back roads, trails & off road.
@@RYwoodview yeah, I'm stuck in that no man's land of... Bigger bike (more $$$), smaller trip. At least for a while. I was hoping that the 390 would be just enough to get by... But I know that it probably isn't.
Hi Bruce, I'm a retired 62 years old with arthritis through and through and I purchase my 2022 KTM 390 Adventure as a replacement for my 2004 BMW R1150GSA. And for exactly the reasons you stated is why I purchased my the 390 Adv. It is FUN, it's easy to handle, easy to pick up, great fuel economy, good electronic aids, all the performance I would ever need and is much cheaper than my good ol' beemer. I have had my 390 for just over 2 years and have put 10,000 milles on the odometer and have already pulled it out of a ditch by myself (since I ride by alone). It needs tires now and I will replace the original chain and sprockets while I'm at it. The only negative I have about the 390 is it's weak ability to pass other vehicles at higher speeds. But since I don't ride fast it's not a problem. I would definitely purchase this bike again, it has put the fun back into riding a motorcycle for me. Thanks for posting! 👍
Thanks for your comments
Thank you for sharing a honest assessment.
I currently ride a 2021 BMW G310GS. I’ve put 15000 miles on it since new. It’s perfect for my use as a long distance backroad traveler and forest service road bike. I’ve been to southern Arizona twice and the length of the 101 from my home on the central Oregon coast down to Southern California with no major issues. I sometimes wish it had ten more horsepower but I can live with that. My last bike was an Aprilia 1000 Caponord. I don’t miss the weight and bulk. I’m a 65 year old cancer survivor with two major back surgeries behind me. I think that the KTM 390 is a great bike but chose the G310GS. It should be interesting to see where KTM ends up with all the financial troubles and recall issues they are dealing with right now. Great video from a fellow Oregonian 👍😎
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'll be following to see how it all plays out.
tespitleriniz çok doğru bende aynı motoru kullanıyorum güvenlik anlamında harika bir motor.
I have an identical bike. I agree with all your assessments. I would buy it again.
How old are you? Thank you for the video!
He said a while ago that he’s in his early ‘70s.
I am 75
If its great for you thats what matters.. me personally would never buy anything from ktm.. they have gone to crap ever since cfmoto bought them out 10 years ago. That particular model the engine and electronics are made in China and it assembled in India
They merged no buy out
@davidbones8947 that's what want you to believe.. hence the so called bankruptcy
Thought the 390s were entirely made in India by Bajaj.
kTM is going to be out of business soon...
I own a KTM. I’ve heard that they are restructuring the company. That’s not a signal that they’re closing the doors.
@mtkoslowski research it. They are struggling to pay their workers as of last week.
no they are not, their products are too good. They will be restructured

I am 80 years old and ride an AJP PR7. 1st get a decent GPS (Garmin XT) and zoom in on your routes to see course changes. I notice you are zoomed out (3 or more mile view) most of the time. Zoom in to .5 or .8 miles distance and you will not get confused when multiple roads appear. Even though my bike gets a reliable 200 miles to a tank, I still carry a 1-gallon gas tote on multi-day trips in the outback (Nevada). I empty it into the tank of the bike at 60 miles traveled. Ride with a partner!
Hi ! That road looks nice what part of the north west is there ?! What road is ! Thanks for shearing your experience also appreciate your advice. By the way nice bike
My last bike was the CB500X and I’m looking for a lighter easier to handle bike. I’m currently looking at the CRF300L Rally. Seems like a Swiss Army knife duel sport.
Hi Kindly inbox. I wish to learn how to hook the carriage bags.

Nice adventure
Interesting rural sights, good narration, looks like fun. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see you in Mexico again.
All good. Lot of have and have nots there. Deserted or crowded. Traveled the old country a fair amount. Interesting. Next time.
How cool. Right now I am sitting in my RV, as we hang out with my 93 year old Mom, in Escondido, Ca. Staying away from the rain at home in Gold Beach.
Thanks Bruce for that very informative video. It’s nice to see your adventures for a picturesque, beautiful beaches. I have a question what happened to the second moped that you had did you turn that in? Looking forward to the next video thank you.
Yes, I traded a small moped scooter in for a larger one, then I turned it in when I started traveling to places on highways where I traveled by bus.
LFG, bruce!!
I’m 75 and ride solo. I’m trying to decide if I need the 1500 or 2500. I have a BMW 1200GS, Husqvarna 701 and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. I may be selling the BMW soon.
That road you came back into Oregon on from Seiad Valley, we call that Time Warp. My buddy's and I were riding down there and stumbled on that road. We were amazed at how fast we were back in the Applegate. That's why we call it that. That road is not very good tho. We have found some other routes that are more fun. They go up over Condry Mountain.
Nice ride Bruce👍🏼with some really great scenery. Will you get a chance for another trip before the snow arrives?. Ride safe.
Snow and rain had arrived, so winter trips will be shorter day rides until spring.
Thanks for the great video! I'm almost 70, and started riding at eleven on a Honda 50. I've had several bikes over the years... most street bikes and two Harleys, but I've been thinking about looking at a bike that I could ride on and off road lately. I sold my last bike a few months ago and miss riding so much!!
Enjoyed that, thanks Bruce!
