    One thing to keep in mind if your riding off-road up a steep hill and pitch forward into a road depression, that tall windscreen can hit you in the neck “very hard”. I might know a guy that it happened to😂. I’ve now switched over to the puig adjustable clip on that can quickly be raised for highway and lowered off-road. I’m on an 890 adv r by the way

    Puig also sells windshield spoilers in three widths. These spoilers can be clamped onto the top edge of your windshield with robust, well-designed screw-down holders that stay put and allow adjustment of angle and height. I use a size-medium on my KLR650 windscreen and I benefit from the ability to either deflect that extra "inch and a half" of wind over my head or create a cooling jet of air into my helment zone on hot days. It works for me on my stock KLR windscreen.

    I had put a larger Puig on my 790, so I had the original windscreen to install on my 390...(picked up a cheap '23 leftover on Thursday)
    I'm still getting hit in the helmet by wind, so like you, I may want to go bigger for any long range highway riding...
    BTW, the (black) mounts can had relatively cheaply, so I've purchased one for each windscreen, so it's a one bolt remove and install...super quick and easy...I'll be switching to the original for mainly dirt rides as I've already slapped my helmet into the larger windscreen when I was riding some technical terrain...

    Still a bit of noise. Might try one of those temporary windscreens that fit on top. Dunno if the Puig windscreen has enough whoopie to hold one though. I've run a Madstad on other bikes... windshield really works, but it but has custom mounts. (And is kinda ugly.)

    Like you I am a senior rider. I'm getting back into riding after not having a bike for over 40 years. I have a windshield/fairing. I like it when it's not raining but in the rain I'd prefer to look over the wind screen. In my case the screen is too high. Perhaps I'll install one that is adjustable.

    I was hoping you found an old Vetter Windjammer fairing to bolt on there!

      In the 70's I had a bmw 75/5 with a full Vetter fairing. It was amazing!! Wish I had one for my current ride; r850r bmw.

      My Z-1 900 had a Windjammer on it. Have the bike, not the fairing.

    Talk to Ian at Big Rock Moto. He uses some sort of curtain for neck/helmet area. His audio is fine.

    Still windy. Is your mic inside your helmet? Probably the only way to cut all wind noise

    Another great video thanks. Have you tried the Givi 7710dt? I think it's wider and maybe a bit taller.. I just purchased a 2023 KTM 390 Adventure but it's going to be left in the crate until spring. This is the windscreen I'm leaning towards for now. I'd appreciate your input..

      The Givi requires you to also buy a separate fitting kit for the 390. I wanted a windscreen that used the existing 390 mounting bracket.

      I have the Givi , it does need a separate kit, but it’s worth it because it’s secured in 4 places , less vibration and more secure

    Do you notice the vibrations much compared to Tenere 700

    • @MySeniorMoments
      @MySeniorMoments  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More vibration than the Tenere 700, but acceptable for a single cylinder. I mostly feel it in the grips.

    Agree, 115 is fair for a screen no alterations. does your video editing software have the ability to "normalize" audio levels? I noticed your music overlay is loud VS your narration is very quiet. In "Audacity" you can normalize sound of an audio track, I am sure your video editing software has a the same feature.

    A more effective windscreen is a good idea. The KTM OEM windscreen is likely made of Lexan.
    What is your aftermarket windscreen made of? If it’s not made of Lexan then, like so many aftermarket windscreens it’s likely made of acrylic. If it is, then it’s _no bueno._ This is because, upon impact, acrylic shatters into shards which, in an accident could be deadly for you.
    Did the new windscreen come from China. Even if it’s for Puig, is it aftermarket?
    Your mileage may vary.

    • @MySeniorMoments

      Puig is made in Spain. It is acrylic.

      Well, perhaps you could do some research and confirm what I have told you.

    Good evening! Curious as to your seat height? I looked at a 390gs yesterday and it was a tich over 35 not 32+ as described.
    Dealer said they would try adjusting the height after I purchased it🤔🤪 Hmmm?

    • @MySeniorMoments
      @MySeniorMoments  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Standard height is 33.6 inches. The dealer can install a lowering kit to reduce the height to 32.6, or 1 inch lower.
