Homeless in Cape Town
South Africa
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 ธ.ค. 2023
This channel was created to produce a mouthpiece for the more than 14 000 homeless people in the greater Cape Town area. Conversations are had with these often unheard from members of our society as we seek to understand how their situations have become so that they are living on the streets. This is a labour of love that attempts to expose certain systemic issues our society is plagued with and in turn finds answers from listening to others' stories about how to overcome them.

💯🙏Love & Respect
Doing such a beautiful job on your channel with all these beautiful souls may god bless you , hope Lara got a job and is off the street
Hi there thank you so much for the comment, am so happy the content resonates 😊 We did a follow-up interview with Lara and she is unfortunately still on the streets but has been offered some casual jobs here and there so there is hope 💚
Where is their family ? Where is the Muslim community
Please dont do drugs
This guy is not homeless, he lives in a camper van. He's an old Jesus freak, yaaaawn!
Respect for her not giving up her beautiful dog. Her dog is family to her and rightly so.
I have sent an email. xxx
Hi there thank you have received 😊 Will respond asap.
What a precious beautiful soul. 😢 Thank you Lara for sharing your story. May you continue to be blessed abundantly and bring hope to the community you represent. 🙏
An eye-opener! what an incredible woman... she deserves more, so much more! Appreciated her mention of Project Hope and Kevin Alexander. Thank you Homeless in Cape Town 🙏
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad Karen's story resonates!
When she said her son hugged her and said "I love you mom" and her son's girlfriend brought her a blanket,i still can't fathom these people leaving her knowing she will be sleeping in the streets,I can't get my head around it honestly.
The back yard would be better than nothing..
Please can someone help this precious Lara❤❤❤
So sad...I wish her and all the people in distress...that God may bless them with many Blessings.
Another great video! Thank you! Does anyone know the story of the young white person with medium length light brown / blonde hair who hangs around KwikSpar with the pink crocs?
I think you are referring to Jay who is trans? This was posted on the Observatory FB group by a resident: His name is Jason, He was working at my boutique in 2017 by lower main rd, back then and he was fine. But I remember him saying that he was struggling with some family trauma issues as well himself since didn't know he was and wanted to change his gender... Then afterwards stopped working there and I only met him again in 2019, he seems doing great. Then well last year I start seeing him walking around talking to himself I was shocked. He was, is, very sweet and humble person.
@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd, thank you so much for your response. I've see him a lot around the KwikSpar in Station Road and also walking along Albert Road in Salt River / Woodstock. I always feel sorry for him and wanted to know more of his background and if there is a way to support. I've also seen him in animated conversation with himself while walking down the street and realised that something is not quite right. So sad!
There are so many of us that are one or two paychecks away from this lady situation
For sure😮😮😮😮
Is she perhaps related to George Cupido he lives somewhere in summerset west with his father
Lara looks exhausted. I wish and pray she gets somewhere to stay...some care.
Well spoken
Very!
She seems nice, but it still doesn't make sense to me. If my mother or my friend was sleeping on the streets in Cape Town, and I had no space, I would at least buy a mattress and let them sleep on the floor of my flat. I don't understand how her family and friends let her sleep on the streets.
Some people really have horrendous families. My so-called family members would have no issue with me being on the streets if it came to that. Which is why I never judge the homeless because I could have easily ended up like that.
You are an amazing soul. There are sooo many families living in their own bubble, some with entitlement attitudes who will see family in shelters or on the street. When you ask why don't you care their answer is "he/she deserves it they made the mistake" the number of homeless is climbing in SA, and more and more people on the streets are not druggies or alcoholics.
@jacques8290 Exactly! Where there's a will there's a way. Also, like she pointed out how different cultures and communities look after one another, whereas unfortunately with older whites, most of them generally get put in old age homes. It's so sad that Lara, being a very intelligent lady, finds herself on the streets. I hope and pray she gets help with at least finding appropriate accommodation.
OTHERS STORIES ARE NOT MENT TO MAKE SENCE TO YOU
Many people (including the fortunate whites) see the older homeless whites as if "something went wrong there" sort of thing. If you consider the previous government supposed to help it's own and whites were supposed to have been fortunate
People can hate on me as much as they like, but I feel that: if you really want to change your life, start by finding a job instead of begging. It's your own choices that put you in this screwup situation
seem like a very nice person
Thank you for your work Simba. Please contact DreamXChange. They can hook you up with people that can assist with tools etc.
one sided. no one speaking about cause or effect. alcohol or drugs. not saying she is either. but main and root cause are the two above. dont know JP. maybe think of interviewing him alongside this particular video for example.
My advise is to move to the location, and live your life peacefully u can do so with 6000 easily, you might even enjoy it.
I moved away from CT as it was simply too expensive to keep living there.
Thank you Johan...yes ..when you are baptised in Holy Spirit and walk with God, you know His voice. Is wonderlik om jou getuie te hoor, verseker gehoorsaamheid ..ja. Sterkte en Liefde in Jesus❤
There is terrible suffering in the world.. Regardless, if one is religious or not, let us all have hope for a better future.. In the end, we may all become true believers..
That is such a great point! Thank you for commenting ✨️
I agree with your sentiment. Religion didn't save me, but Jesus DID. That's a fact. He is the reason for the season.
No way...
A COUNTRY WITHOUT HEALTHCARE IS A KAFFERSTATE , FUCK MODERN POLITICAL COUNTRIES.
Awesome awesome awesome! Johan is a true champion for Jesus! Thanks for posting this. Love your channel.
Thank you for the comment. I am greatful the video resonates with like-hearted individuals such as yourself 🙏💚
Thanks for these interviews, very insightful indeed. It would be great if there was a follow up on the people you've interviewed. I know you mentioned nobody can find this guy in particular (which is quite worrying), but follow ups would be great. PS you mentioned you know which hospital they were at, maybe they left a clue there as to where they might be🤔
Hi there thank you for the comment! Yes they were at New Somerset Hospital. Not sure if private information would be shared at hospitals though 😬 Have however recently posted a follow-up for Karen, and filmed a follow up for Lara last weekend and can hopefully catch up with Deon as well. Thank you again for the support and encouraging words 🙏 💙
She will o ly be addicted to drugs if no body cares of show her sum humanity.
If anybody out there cn assist her.wt a job to take care of herself.she luk like a good woman.she needs so.one tht cn just take her under their wing. Help her.
If this one single man can make a very big difference like this,,,,how much whould just 10 more do???
Agreed 👍 Simba is such an inspiration 🙌
Hi,,,have you find anything from Markus in parow?
Hi there we don't drive around looking for people. Please provide an address and a time to meet this person then it will be considered.
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd I apologize,,,,it's been a few years since we saw each other,,,he doesn't have an permanent or actual address,,,but he is usually around parow spar and library,, also English,,I moved to North West province klersdorp so I have no idea how to get in touch with him Or anyone else who watches this channel,,,if u could help in anyway,,,would appreciate it so much 👌
She needs real support. Someone who can take her away from her boyfriend as it seems like he keeps her on this low vibration. Once she is away from the bad engery. She will really flourish. I hope all the best for her ❤
I respect what you are doing Ma'am. Bringing awareness to the public regarding their lives. I will also see if I can go see them by the Grace of God May the Lord help them in the Name of Jesus 🙏❤️
Simba is a legend
ALL THE VERY BEST FOR YOUR FUTURE SIMBA. GOD HAS A GREAT PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE.
With that passion for the marine environment Simba should work at the two oceans aquarium !
Wish you all the best mate💪Stay safe!
He is something else. There's peaceful and free ❤
Awesome dude Simba! All we are and have is by God's grace. SO true.
Someone buy him paint to paint the rocks ?
Great idea! Not sure what the municipality would say though 😅
iim sure he aspires to better than painting rocks. he may be homeless of even on drugs. but still a person.
That would be aw 9:18 @@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd
Even if he can paint and leave things on the on the beach, and makes. Income. God's opened the clouds and blessings are reining over you.. You do not murmur, and God loves those who honour him. You are an inspiration to us all?. 🎉😊
Great guy. We need more of his enthusiasm to make this a successful positive country
Exactly! Such a great attitude 👏
Totally
Why wont the church allow street people in church?thats not what Jesus preached
Catholic don’t follow Jesus they have no clue what love is they will never allow homeless people into their pdf organisation (church )
I would never let my mom go this far... whats wrong with her kids???
It seems the kids are struggling as well 😫
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd Gosh... How sad, I am definitely packing a bag of clothes for her and going to find her. <3
That is so kind thank you so much 🙏💚 If you cannot find her, her son Oliver has said people can reach her through him. He gave us permission to post his number: 065 993 2061
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fdI get that her children are struggling but no one should allow their mom to sleep on the street 😢the one son stays with his GF there is no excuse that a child doesn’t look after their parents it’s heartbreaking 💔
She’s so beautiful ❤
Living in cape town i make it a daily thing to speak to homeoess. Just sad how the rest of cape town think that these humans are nothing. They are indeed a human . The lady giving the interviews thanks for doing this wonderful job to have interviews with these people from all walks of life
Thank you for the comment and your service to humanity! 🙏💚
The elephant in the room that has not been addressed is her addiction to drugs. This poor woman is often openly beaten by her partner and has repeatedly been offered help by the local authorities but due to her addiction refuses the help. The welfare ladies will attest to this. Sometimes one has to get to rock bottom before one accepts help.
What drug is she addicted to? How do you know this information?
I know this lady and her boyfriend . They used to stay just near the Observatory station , a few metres from the offices of the Cape Mental Health society. They are very neat and very friendly. I just hope , they will one day get a permanent or fixed jobs. They have been together for years
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd I doubt these guys are on drugs
I see the couple everyday in Main road. I'm not here to argue that you're wrong. From my intermittent interaction with them, I have not concluded that they are on drugs...
What makes you think they are on drugs?
Such a well spoken lady. Hope she gets help.
To end up homeless is a journey and choice of the person!! Unless one is born on the streets that will be all that the kid knows!!! So what can we do to help?? I think the next generation is the kids!! So any homeless kid who is under 18yrs should be allowed to have a fighting chance in life! With that kids can’t make these important decisions that is why school is needed!! I think to better the situation and decrease people becoming homeless it must start with the street kids!!! Anyone who is under 18yrs and who is not attending school but standing by robot and begging for cash should be taken in by any laws enforcement! They should be taken to a place of safety like a children home where they will have a chance to succeed in life!! By taking the steps by making a law that any minor has a chance to succeed!! And the government should help by improving the system! Yes life is hard living on the streets!!
